What this server setup requires
MineColonies is an interactive building mod for creating and managing a settlement. Its official installation guidance requires Forge, and the project is marked for both client and server use. A working multiplayer installation therefore has two matching sides: a Forge 1.19.2 server and Forge 1.19.2 client profiles containing the same compatible mod set.

Choose and pin a compatible release set
Pick the exact MineColonies file before installing anything else. CurseForge lists minecolonies-1.19.2-1.1.628-BETA.jar as the current 1.19.2 Forge entry, uploaded on August 11, 2024. A separate detailed 1.19.2 release page documents version minecolonies-1.19.2-1.1.516-BETA.jar and gives minimum dependency versions. Those are release records, not evidence that arbitrary combinations are interchangeable.

Why pinning is safer than collecting “latest” files
“Latest” can mean latest for a different Minecraft version, a different loader, or a different MineColonies branch. Record the filename of every JAR you install. If you choose the 1.1.516 release, treat the minimums above as a floor and verify compatibility for any newer library. If you choose the 1.1.628 entry, use the dependency versions displayed for that release rather than copying the 1.1.516 list without checking. A pinned manifest makes a rollback or a second player installation reproducible.
Prepare a clean Forge server directory
- Create a dedicated directory. Use a new folder for this server rather than placing Forge files in an unrelated vanilla world or another modpack. Keep the directory writable by the account that will run the server.
- Obtain the Minecraft 1.19.2 Forge installer. The MineColonies manual links to the official Forge download page. Select the installer that targets Minecraft 1.19.2.
- Run the installer in Server mode. Choose the server installation option and select the clean directory. The installer generates the Forge server files and the libraries it needs.
- Start the generated server once. Use the launch script or server files produced for your operating system and deployment. The exact command is environment-specific, so follow the files generated by the selected Forge installer rather than copying a command intended for another build.
- Handle the EULA prompt. The first run normally creates the server files and stops for the Minecraft EULA. Follow the prompt in the generated server directory before attempting normal operation. The MineColonies installation pages do not prescribe a universal EULA command or launch script.
Do not add MineColonies until the unmodded Forge server has generated its expected structure. This gives you a clean baseline for distinguishing a Forge installation problem from a mod dependency problem.

For a manual server installation, download the primary MineColonies Forge JAR and each required library individually. The MineColonies downloads guidance notes that launcher-based installations can bundle dependencies automatically, but a server’s mods directory still needs the actual compatible files.

Before copying anything, inspect each download’s supported Minecraft version, loader, and dependency declaration. A similarly named file for 1.20.x, Fabric, or another branch is not a substitute.
Install the JARs in the server
- Open the Forge server directory and locate or create its
modsfolder. - Copy the MineColonies JAR and all four dependency JARs into that folder.
- Leave every file as a
.jar. Do not open an archive and do not extract its contents. The official manual explicitly instructs users to copy the downloaded JARs and says not to extract them. - Remove accidental duplicates, older copies, and files for another Minecraft version. Two versions of the same library can produce confusing loading failures.
- Keep a text manifest containing each exact filename. For example, record the MineColonies filename, the four dependency filenames, and the Forge installer/build used to create the server.
The server should now contain a normal Forge directory plus the five mod archives. Do not rename files unless the download itself supplied an unusual name; filenames help you identify which release is actually installed.
Start and verify the modded server
- Launch the Forge server using its generated script or the host’s documented start control.
- Watch the console and log from the beginning of startup. Look for the Forge loading phase and the mod list rather than assuming that a window remaining open means success.
- Check for messages naming a missing dependency, an unsupported Minecraft version, an incompatible loader, or a duplicate mod.
- Wait for the normal server-ready state in your environment before connecting a player. No universal startup time or successful launch can be guaranteed across operating systems and hosts.
- Stop the server cleanly, make a backup of the newly generated world and configuration, and then restart once more if you changed files during diagnosis.
A clean startup is the point at which you can begin testing MineColonies gameplay. If the server stops during mod loading, fix the first dependency or version error in the log before changing several files at once.

Set up each player’s Minecraft 1.19.2 client
Every player needs a Minecraft 1.19.2 Forge profile and the same pinned mod set. Copying only MineColonies is insufficient because its required libraries participate in loading and gameplay.
- Create or select a Forge profile targeting Minecraft 1.19.2.
- Install the same MineColonies release used by the server.
- Install matching Structurize, Domum Ornamentum, BlockUI, and Multi-Piston JARs.
- Compare filenames against the server manifest before launching. If a launcher manages dependencies automatically, verify that it selected the same versions rather than silently choosing a newer or different branch.
- Launch the client once in single-player or at the title screen to let Forge build its local configuration, then connect to the server.
When a client cannot connect, compare the complete mod list and versions first. “Minecraft 1.19.2” alone does not prove that Forge and the five mod files match.
Self-hosting versus a managed host
You can run the Forge directory on your own computer or use a managed Minecraft host that permits custom Forge files. The software setup is the same, but operational responsibilities differ.

Before paying for a managed plan, confirm all of these points in writing: Forge 1.19.2 support, custom JAR upload, file access, backups, restoration, Java controls, and the total recurring price. No particular host is guaranteed by the MineColonies documentation.

“Missing dependency” or a named library cannot load
- Check that Structurize, Domum Ornamentum, BlockUI, and Multi-Piston are all present in the server
modsfolder. - Check the client separately; a library missing only from a player’s profile can still prevent a connection.
- Compare the dependency’s Minecraft version and Forge target with MineColonies.
- For the documented 1.1.516 release, verify the minimums: Structurize 1.19.2-1.0.649-BETA, Multi-Piston 1.19.2-1.2.21-ALPHA, BlockUI 1.19.2-0.0.102-ALPHA, and Domum Ornamentum 1.19-1.0.141-BETA or newer.
- Do not solve the message by adding several random versions. Remove duplicates and return to the pinned manifest.
Wrong Minecraft version or loader
A 1.19.2 Forge server cannot use a Fabric build or a file made for another Minecraft release. Replace the incorrectly targeted file on both sides, then restart the server and client. The MineColonies project being marked Client & Server does not remove the requirement that both sides use the same loader and game version.
The server starts, but a player is rejected
- Compare the player’s Minecraft version with the server’s 1.19.2 version.
- Compare the Forge profile and build.
- Compare MineColonies and all four dependency filenames.
- Remove client-only extras or old copies that change the effective mod list.
- Read the client and server logs for the first mismatch named during the connection attempt.
Startup fails after replacing a mod
Stop the server, restore the last known-good manifest, and use a backup of the world and configuration before trying another release set. Change one version at a time and retain the complete log from each attempt. A world created with one mod version should not be treated as disposable just because a newer JAR exists.
No clear error appears
Capture the full startup log, the exact filenames in the server and client mods folders, the Forge and Minecraft versions, and the point at which startup stops. The official MineColonies manual directs users to its support channels when installation problems remain. Environment-specific questions about Java major version, memory, firewall rules, port forwarding, and launch scripts must be answered by the host or operating system documentation; the cited MineColonies pages do not publish universal values for them.
Backups and version changes
Back up the world and configuration before changing MineColonies, Forge, or any dependency. Use the backup facility provided by your host or operating system, and verify that you can restore the files rather than merely creating an archive. Keep the old JAR manifest beside each backup so you know which release set created it.

- All required files remain unextracted JARs in the server
modsdirectory. - The server has completed startup without missing-dependency or version errors.
- Each player has an identical Forge and mod set.
- A world and configuration backup exists before the first serious build or version change.
- If using a host, Forge 1.19.2, custom JAR upload, backups, restoration, and Java controls have been confirmed.
The Bottom Line
A reliable MineColonies 1.19.2 server is a pinned Forge installation with all four required libraries, unextracted JARs, and exact client/server parity. Treat the release set and its backups as a single unit, and use the startup log to resolve any mismatch before players join.
