For a comfortable, clear view, adjust the headset and strap until the image is centered and stable, then test its three preset lens-spacing positions. If you wear glasses, use the included spacer according to Meta’s model-specific instructions.
What comes in the Meta Quest 3S box
Meta lists the standard package as the headset with a pre-installed standard facial interface, two Touch Plus controllers with wrist straps and AA batteries, a charging cable, and a power adapter. The headset may need software updates before first use. Meta lists battery life at approximately 2.5 hours; treat that as a product estimate, not a guaranteed runtime for every session or headset condition. Meta’s device comparison lists the estimate.

Set up the headset and controllers
- Prepare the headset. Unpack the headset, controllers, wrist straps, batteries, cable, and adapter. Charge the headset as needed using the supplied charging equipment.
- Start the headset. Put it on and follow the instructions shown in the headset, including any update prompts.
- Use Meta’s current consumer setup instructions. Pairing and setup screens can change, so follow the current Quest 3S Help Center guide for the phone-app pairing sequence and any step-by-step instructions. Meta’s Device Setup documentation is intended for development, debugging, and testing; it directs people setting up without a computer to the consumer Help Center guide.
- Finish the play-area prompts. Complete the headset’s boundary setup before active use, following the current Quest 3S Help Center instructions for the exact prompts and safety guidance.
Adjust the fit and make the image clear
Start with the headset sitting securely and comfortably, with the image centered in your view. Reposition the headset and adjust its strap as needed; a stable fit helps keep the image from shifting as you move. There is no single strap position or facial interface that fits every face.

Test the three lens-spacing positions
Quest 3S has three preset IPD (interpupillary distance) positions rather than the continuous lens-spacing slider Meta lists for Quest 3. Look at a simple, readable screen and try the available positions until the image looks clearest to you, keeping the headset centered while you assess it. Meta’s device comparison lists the three presets; consult the current Quest 3S Help Center guide for the model-specific adjustment instructions.
If the headset shifts when you move your face
If a facial movement, such as smiling, makes the headset lift or the view shift, treat that as a fit problem to troubleshoot rather than a sign that one accessory will work for everyone. Reposition the headset and adjust the strap for a stable, comfortable fit. Meta’s community discussion shows this as an example concern, not an official fit instruction.

Using Quest 3S with glasses
The retail package includes a glasses spacer. Follow Meta’s current Quest 3S instructions for installing and using it; do not guess at the attachment sequence. Check that your glasses do not touch the headset lenses when the headset is in place. Meta also lists optional prescription lenses as compatible with Quest devices, but they are an alternative some glasses wearers may consider, not a required purchase. Meta lists both stationary and room-scale play for Quest 3S. For room-scale use, its device comparison gives a minimum play area of 6.5 by 6.5 feet. Clear the area and complete the headset’s boundary prompts; use the current Quest 3S Help Center guidance for detailed boundary setup and safety directions.

The standard facial interface is included. Meta also lists a Quest 3S Breathable Facial Interface as an optional accessory. It may be worth considering if you have a specific comfort or ventilation concern, but Meta’s listing does not establish that it will improve comfort for every wearer.
