Use Starlink’s built-in Guest Network when it appears in your app: open Settings → Add Network, give the network a different name and password, switch on Guest Network, then save. Starlink says Guest devices cannot communicate with one another or access the local network, and they cannot access the Starlink app. That makes native Guest mode the simplest option for giving visitors internet access without sharing the household Wi-Fi.

- 📶 Optimized Performance: Best placed within two rooms of the main router; avoid obstructions like concrete walls and metal appliances.
- 📱 Mesh Compatibility: Compatible with Starlink Gen 2 Router, Starlink Gen 3 Router, Starlink Mini Router, and Starlink Mini Kit. Not compatible for wireless mesh networking with Starlink Gen 1 routers or third-party mesh systems.
Changing a Wi-Fi name or password disconnects devices using the network whose credentials changed; those devices need to reconnect with the updated details. Take care to change the guest network rather than the main network if you only mean to update visitor access.
Check that visitors can connect
Connect a phone or other test device to the new guest SSID and confirm it can reach the internet. You can also check that the device cannot access the Starlink app, which Starlink identifies as part of Guest-mode isolation. This is a practical check after setup, not a separate procedure required by Starlink.

Starlink says Guest devices are isolated from each other and the local network. Its Help Center puts the app restriction this way: “Devices on the Guest network also can’t access the Starlink app, so your network settings stay protected.” See Starlink’s Guest Network guidance. The documentation does not establish that Guest mode includes bandwidth limits, a captive portal, or a particular security certification.

If Guest Network is missing or does not meet your needs
Starlink’s documentation does not provide a complete router-generation matrix for Guest mode or specify a minimum app version. If you cannot find the option, check current Starlink help for your exact kit and router rather than assuming another separate SSID has the same isolation behavior.

Use a third-party router
A separate router is an alternative if you need its own guest-network controls. Follow that router maker’s instructions, and verify both the guest feature’s isolation behavior and Ethernet compatibility with your Starlink kit. Starlink’s third-party router guidance describes kit connection requirements but does not endorse a particular router.
The connection hardware depends on the kit: the Standard Actuated kit needs a Starlink Ethernet Adapter for a wired external-router connection, while Starlink Standard has Ethernet built into its power supply. Check the instructions for the specific hardware you own before buying an adapter or router.
Understand bypass mode before enabling it
When an external router is taking over Wi-Fi control, bypass mode may be needed for the applicable setup. Bypass disables the built-in Starlink router’s Wi-Fi. Starlink says Router 3 can be put into bypass through the app and connected to an external router by Ethernet; its instructions say a factory reset is needed to leave bypass. See Starlink bypass-mode instructions. Do not enable bypass as an initial fix when the built-in Guest option already does what you need.
