To show a real charity fundraising goal on a live stream, first choose a donation tool that routes contributions through a charity fundraiser, create and publish a campaign with a clear target, then add that campaign’s progress widget or native donate controls to your stream. A generic on-screen goal or creator tip jar is not automatically a charity donation mechanism.
Choose a donation route before building the goal
Pick the charity and a fundraising tool that can accept donations for it in your region. The visible goal should reflect the campaign that actually collects and tracks the contributions—not a separate tally that could mislead viewers.

- Check donation routing and receipts: Confirm where payments go and what receipt, if any, donors receive.
- Check eligibility and geography: Make sure your channel or account and the intended charity are supported where you are.
- Check the viewer journey: Determine whether viewers can donate on the watch page or need to visit a separate campaign page.
- Check progress and alerts: Verify that the route provides a native goal display or a widget you can add to your streaming software.
Twitch distinguishes its charity tools and fundraising platforms from ordinary payments to a streamer. Tips, subscriptions, Bits, gifted subscriptions, and similar creator payments do not become donations through Twitch’s charity system simply because the streamer later gives the money to a charity. Twitch says, “No, currently Twitch has no product that allows for charitable donations via Bits and subscriptions.” Its guidance points fundraisers toward Twitch Charity or platforms that send donations directly to charities and provide receipts where relevant. It lists examples including betterplace, DonorDrive, JustGiving, Streamlabs Charity, and Tiltify; availability and features vary, so confirm that the particular service supports your charity, location, and stream setup. - Choose the charity. Browse the registered charities available in Streamlabs Charity and select the organization you intend to support.
- Create or verify your account. Streamlabs’ instructions allow signup using email and password or a social login; an email address may need to be verified.
- Create the campaign. Choose Fundraise, then enter a campaign name, description, live date, and donation goal. Create the campaign.
- Publish it. Publish when the campaign is ready. Share the resulting charity tip page with viewers so they can donate and see the fundraiser total.
- Add the goal widget. In the Streamlabs dashboard, open All Widgets and select Streamlabs Charity Donation Goal under Goals. Adjust the appearance and save.
- Put it on screen. In Streamlabs Desktop, add the goal through the Sources panel as a widget source. In OBS Studio, copy the widget URL from its settings, add a Browser source, paste the URL, then position and size the source in your scene. Do not show the widget URL on stream.
- Connect alerts if you want them. Link your Streamlabs account to the published campaign, then configure charity alerts in the alert box settings.

Use YouTube Giving if your channel and location are eligible
YouTube Giving provides a native option for eligible channels. YouTube Help lists these eligibility requirements: the channel must be based in an available location, have at least 10,000 subscribers, be in the YouTube Partner Program, and not be designated as made for kids. Location availability and eligibility can change; check the current YouTube Giving FAQs and the setup tool for your channel before planning around it.

YouTube says the fundraiser’s donate button appears after its specified start date. For a donate button in mobile live chat, live chat must be enabled and viewers must see the chat in portrait mode. Made-for-kids settings can remove the button. Test the actual viewing experience and confirm the fundraiser is visible before announcing it.

YouTube’s general Goals feature is separate from YouTube Giving. YouTube Help explicitly says it is “Not a fundraising tool” and advises against using goals to raise money for specific items or expenses. Use YouTube Giving or a charity fundraising service to collect charitable donations; if you show another progress graphic, label it accurately and do not imply that it is the official donation total. Test the fundraiser and display before going live
- Confirm the selected charity, campaign target, description, and live date are correct.
- Open the published donation page as a viewer and make sure its purpose and donation route are clear.
- Check that the on-screen widget shows the campaign you published and fits the scene without covering important content.
- Confirm alerts are linked to the published campaign if you plan to use them.
- Verify current widget availability in your account. Streamlabs’ notice scheduled the separate Twitch Charity Donation Goal widget for sunset on April 12, 2026; that is not the same name as the Streamlabs Charity Donation Goal widget in the walkthrough. Check the live widget list rather than assuming the two are interchangeable. The notice is at Important Update on Select Streamlabs Widgets.
