What you need before starting
This guide applies specifically to the COROS PACE 4 Pro GPS Watch. Have the watch, a compatible iPhone or Android phone, an internet connection for the initial app setup, and the included COROS A2 Charging Adapter available. The adapter uses a standard USB-C cable, so you do not need to purchase a separate COROS charging accessory for this setup.

- Install the COROS app from the iOS App Store or Google Play.
- Keep Bluetooth enabled on the phone while pairing.
- Wear the watch in the position you selected during setup. A consistent fit helps the watch maintain contact while it acquires heart rate.
- If you intend to run immediately, charge the watch first if its battery level is low.
The official model-specific instructions are in COROS’s PACE 4 Pro setup guide. The company’s general activity tracking guide also explains the GPS and heart-rate checks made before training.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute1. Install the app and pair the watch
Turn on the PACE 4 Pro
If the watch is off, hold the lower-right Back/Lap button for 2–3 seconds. Release it when the COROS logo appears. The watch will ask you to choose a language and then display a QR code for pairing.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Use QR-code pairing
- Open the COROS app and sign in, or create a COROS account if you do not already have one.
- Open the Profile tab. It is the fourth tab in the app.
- Tap Add New Device.
- Use the app’s scanner to scan the QR code shown on the watch.
- Complete the guided setup prompts, including the hand on which you wear the watch and notification preferences.
The QR code connects the app to this specific watch without requiring you to search through a list of nearby Bluetooth devices. Keep the watch and phone close together until the guided setup finishes.
If scanning does not work
The pairing screen offers manual Bluetooth pairing below the scanner. Choose that option in the app and follow the on-screen instructions instead of scanning. This is the documented alternative when the phone camera cannot read the QR code. The separate COROS device-pairing guide covers the same pairing route.
- Confirm that Bluetooth is enabled on the phone.
- Leave the COROS app open while the pairing request is in progress.
- If the watch is not displaying its setup QR code, return to the watch’s setup flow and keep the phone near it.
- Do not start a run until the app has completed the guided setup and the watch is shown as connected.
2. Learn the controls before you run
Knowing which button does what prevents accidental exits or an unsaved activity when you are moving. The watch’s default security behavior is “Hold to Unlock,” so a press-and-hold may be required when the watch is locked.
| Control | Location | What it does | When you use it on a run |
|---|---|---|---|
| Digital dial | Top right | Scrolls through menus and confirms a selection when pressed | Choose Run, pause, select Finish, and hold to save the workout |
| Back/Lap button | Lower right | Returns to the previous screen; records a lap or rest interval during activity | Mark a lap or rest interval without ending the activity |
| Action button | Lower left | Opens Control Center from the watch face | Open watch controls before or after the workout |
| Action button, held | Lower left | Launches Voice Control | Use only when you deliberately want voice control |
From the watch face, a single press of the digital dial opens the activity menu. During an activity, pressing the dial pauses the session. The Back/Lap button is separate: it takes you back in menus and can mark a lap or rest interval while the activity continues.

3. Charge the watch correctly
Identify the included adapter
The box contents listed by COROS are the PACE 4 Pro GPS Watch and a COROS A2 Charging Adapter. The adapter is supplied with the watch and is designed to connect to the charging contacts on its back. It needs a standard USB-C cable and a USB power source.
Attach the A2 adapter
- Remove the A2 adapter from its silicone case.
- Align its metal pins with the charging port on the back of the watch.
- Press it into place until it snaps onto the watch.
- Connect a standard USB-C cable to the adapter and then to power.
- Leave the watch connected until it has enough charge for the planned run.
If you discover that the battery is low after starting an activity, COROS says charging during a recorded workout does not interfere with, stop, or restart that workout. For a first run, however, charging before you leave avoids having to manage a cable outdoors.
4. Select the running activity
- Return to the watch face.
- Press the digital dial once to open the activity menu.
- Scroll with the dial until the desired running activity is highlighted.
- Press the dial to select it.
The watch opens a Start screen rather than beginning immediately. Use this screen to check the signal and make any optional changes before recording.

Review alerts and shortcuts
On the Start screen, scroll down to the available options. The setup guide identifies alerts and shortcuts as adjustable items. Set only the prompts you understand and want for this first outing; leaving an option at its default is valid if you are not sure what it changes. The important requirement is that you finish these choices before pressing Start, because changing settings while moving is more distracting.

No separate heart-rate strap, foot pod, or other sensor is required by the documented first-run procedure. The watch is expected to record distance, pace or speed, heart rate, and additional activity information after the session begins.
5. Wait for GPS and heart rate before pressing Start
Do not start recording as soon as the activity screen appears. Watch the satellite signal widget and the heart indicator:
- Wait until the satellite widget shows full bars.
- Wait until the heart icon is solid, indicating that heart-rate acquisition has completed.
- Only then press the dial to start the run.
COROS’s general activity guidance also recommends waiting for both GPS and heart-rate acquisition before training. Starting early can leave the opening portion of the activity waiting for a signal, so give the watch time to complete both checks while you are still in place.

What the watch records
Once the activity is running, the PACE 4 Pro tracks distance, pace or speed, heart rate, and other workout data. The exact information visible on the activity screens depends on the activity configuration and the options you selected on the Start screen. The first run is a useful opportunity to observe the screens without changing settings repeatedly: use the dial to move through information and the Back/Lap button when you need to mark a lap or rest interval.

6. Pause, finish, and save the first run
Pause safely
When you stop running, press the digital dial once to pause. Pausing keeps the activity open while you decide whether to resume or finish. If you only need a short break, leave the activity paused rather than choosing Finish.
Finish and save
- While the activity is paused, scroll down to Finish.
- Press the digital dial to highlight that command.
- Press and hold the digital dial to finish and save the activity.
The hold action matters: a normal press pauses or confirms a selection, while holding the dial completes the save command. Wait for the watch to return out of the activity before treating the recording as complete.
7. Sync the saved activity to your phone
- Open the COROS app after saving the activity.
- Go to the app’s first page if it does not open there automatically.
- Swipe down to start synchronization.
- Wait for the latest activity to appear.
After synchronization, the newest run appears on the app’s first page with a detailed activity breakdown. If it is not visible immediately, keep the watch near the phone, confirm that the app still shows the device as connected, and perform the swipe-down sync again. Do not delete or reset the watch while a saved activity is still waiting to sync.

Troubleshooting the setup sequence
The watch will not turn on
Hold the lower-right Back/Lap button for the documented 2–3-second power-on interval. If the COROS logo still does not appear, connect the watch to power with the A2 adapter, verify that the adapter’s metal pins are aligned with the rear charging contacts, and try the power-on action again.

The QR code cannot be scanned
Use the manual Bluetooth pairing option displayed below the QR scanner in the COROS app. Keep Bluetooth on and follow the app’s prompts. The manual route is an alternative pairing method, not a different watch mode, so complete the rest of the guided setup afterward.
GPS is not ready
Remain on the activity Start screen until the satellite widget reaches full bars. Check that you have not already pressed Start and that the watch is still searching. COROS’s activity guidance specifically calls for waiting for GPS acquisition before training; beginning before that point is the avoidable cause addressed by this check.
The heart icon is not solid
Keep the watch on your wrist and wait on the Start screen until the heart icon becomes solid. Starting before heart-rate acquisition finishes can leave the beginning of the activity without the expected heart-rate reading, so do not press Start just to get moving faster.
The run seems to have disappeared
Confirm that you completed the save sequence: pause with the dial, choose Finish, and hold the dial. Then open the COROS app and swipe down to sync. A run that was only paused has not yet been finished and saved.
