Set the viewport by adding width and height to your ApiFlash screenshot request. For example, use width=1280 and height=720 for a 1280 × 720-pixel viewport. ApiFlash documents defaults of 1920 × 1080 pixels, so specify both values when you need a predictable viewport.
Set width and height in the request
ApiFlash’s screenshot endpoint is https://api.apiflash.com/v1/urltoimage. Add the viewport dimensions as parameters named width and height. The following GET URL illustrates the format; replace the access key and target page with your own values. This example is illustrative, not a tested request.

ApiFlash accepts GET and POST requests. For GET, put parameters in the query string; for POST, send them as form data. Consult the ApiFlash API documentation for endpoint and parameter details.

Understand the viewport limits and defaults
ApiFlash documents width as the viewport width in pixels, with a default of 1920, and height as the viewport height in pixels, with a default of 1080. The documentation gives a maximum of 16,350 pixels for either dimension and a maximum viewport area of 33,177,600 pixels. Both limits apply, so a request must stay within the per-dimension limits and the total-area limit.
For a fixed viewport capture, set both dimensions and leave full-page mode disabled. When full_page=true, ApiFlash ignores height; it therefore does not constrain the full-page output.

Make a valid request
- Include a valid
access_key. - Set
urlto the complete target address, includinghttp://orhttps://. - Provide
widthandheightas pixel values within the documented dimension and area limits. - URL-encode parameter values when needed, especially the target URL in a GET query string.
The viewport determines the page’s available rendering area, which can affect responsive layout. If you are checking how a page adapts, send separate requests with the viewport sizes you want to compare.
Keep viewport sizing separate from render timing
Changing width or height does not make the page finish loading sooner. ApiFlash documents wait_until with a default of network_idle; wait_for can wait for a CSS selector, and delay adds a short wait after page load. Use these timing options when the page content is not ready at capture time, rather than changing viewport dimensions to address a loading issue.

Troubleshoot common request problems
- The layout uses unexpected dimensions: include both
widthandheightexplicitly; otherwise the documented defaults are 1920 × 1080 pixels. - The full-page screenshot does not stop at your height value:
heightis ignored whenfull_page=true. Disable full-page mode for a fixed viewport. - The request is rejected or does not capture the intended page: check that the access key is valid and that
urlincludes its protocol. - A query-string request mishandles a value: URL-encode values as needed, including the target URL.
- Content is missing from the screenshot: adjust page readiness with
wait_until,wait_for, ordelay. These settings affect when capture happens, not the viewport size. - The dimensions exceed the documented limit: reduce either dimension to at most 16,350 pixels and keep width multiplied by height at or below 33,177,600 pixels.
