On most Samsung Galaxy tablets, open Settings > General management > Date and time to set the clock. Turn on automatic date and time and, if available, automatic time zone for automatic updates. To set these values yourself, turn the automatic controls off. The same screen includes the 24-hour clock option. Menu labels and availability can vary by model, software version, and region, according to Samsung’s US instructions.
Set the date and time automatically
- Open Settings.
- Tap General management, then Date and time.
- Turn on Automatic date and time. If the option appears, turn on Automatic time zone as well.
Samsung says a phone or tablet connected to a mobile network gets its date, time, and time zone from network settings. Availability and behavior can depend on the tablet model and its connection. Automatic date and automatic time zone are separate controls, so check both rather than assuming one enables the other.

Set the date, time, or time zone manually
To reveal the manual controls, turn off Automatic date and time. Turn off Automatic time zone too if you want to choose a zone yourself. Samsung notes that the manual date and time options do not appear while automatic date and time is enabled.
- Go to Settings > General management > Date and time.
- Turn off the automatic controls you want to override.
- Tap Set date, choose the date, then tap Done.
- Tap Set time, adjust the clock, then tap Done.
- Tap Select time zone and choose the region and zone for the tablet’s intended location.
A manually selected time zone can still account for daylight saving time when the selected zone observes it, according to Samsung’s guidance. For travel, automatic time-zone selection is convenient when available and working; if the tablet does not update to the local zone, select the correct zone manually.

Switch between 12-hour and 24-hour time
On Settings > General management > Date and time, turn Use 24-hour format on or off. This changes how the time is displayed and works whether the tablet’s date and time are automatic or manual.
Fix a clock or calendar that is wrong
Check automatic synchronization
If the displayed date or time is incorrect, Samsung recommends checking the Date and time settings and turning Automatic date and time back on so the tablet can adjust automatically. Account for the Wi-Fi tablet time-zone limitation
Samsung specifically notes that Galaxy Tab Wi-Fi models running Android R may no longer support automatic time-zone services. If you have a device in that category, or automatic time-zone updates are unavailable, choose the zone manually. This limitation should not be assumed to apply to every Wi-Fi tablet or current Galaxy Tab.
Check calendar events after changing the clock
After correcting the tablet’s time, check whether calendar events display at the expected times. Samsung’s troubleshooting guidance recommends checking the events and editing an individual event if needed; it also describes a Calendar option to lock the calendar time zone.

Why the correct time matters
Samsung warns that inaccurate date or time settings can prevent some apps and websites from working correctly and may trigger security warnings. If a setting named in these steps is missing, check the tablet’s model and software version and consult the Samsung support instructions for the relevant device and region.
