To set a stock price alert, open the security’s quote or your platform’s alert manager, choose a supported trigger, enter its threshold and direction, then save. Set notification delivery separately, and check the alert list afterward to confirm the condition and where alerts will appear. The exact controls—and whether an alert repeats—depend on the platform.
Choose the condition you want to monitor
First confirm the correct security, including its ticker and exchange where shown. Then decide what event should trigger the alert. Depending on the platform, choices may include:

- Target price: a specified price level.
- Price direction: a move above or below a target.
- Percentage change: a move by a set percentage, sometimes measured against the prior close.
- Technical or range event: a new 52-week high or low, or a cross of a specified moving average.
Available conditions vary by service and security. Choose the trigger that matches the event you actually want to notice; a target-price alert and a percentage-move alert are not interchangeable.
Set an alert in Yahoo Finance
Yahoo Finance for Android: create a target-price alert
- Look up the stock and open its quote.
- Open the Summary tab and tap Alerts.
- Tap Create new price alert, enter the target price, and tap Done.
- Return to the quote’s alert controls to view the alert you created.
Yahoo Help says a push notification will be sent when the target is met. See Yahoo’s Android price-alert instructions.

Yahoo Finance for iOS: control push notifications
To change the app’s alert-notification preference, tap Menu, then Settings | Notifications, and toggle alerts on or off. This controls push notifications; it is separate from creating or changing a particular stock’s price condition. See Yahoo’s iOS notification instructions.
Set and manage an alert in Schwab Mobile
Create a target-price alert
- Open Markets, search for the desired symbol, and select it.
- Tap Set an Alert, then choose Target price.
- Select the price type and direction, enter the threshold, and tap Set Alert.
Review or edit alerts
Open your profile and go to Stock Alerts to inspect or edit open alerts. Use the Triggered alerts tab to review alerts that have fired. Schwab says successfully triggered Schwab Mobile alerts are retained for up to 30 days. Its mobile alerts do not synchronize with alerts in thinkorswim or on Schwab.com, so check the platform where you created the alert. See Schwab’s Schwab Mobile alert guide.

Set alerts in Fidelity tools
Trader+ Desktop
In Fidelity Trader+ Desktop, go to Tools > News & Research > Set Alert. The documented conditions include price movement in dollars or percent, a new 52-week high or low, and a cross of the 20-, 50-, or 200-day exponential moving average (EMA). See Fidelity’s Trader+ Desktop alert guide.
Active Trader Pro and alert lifecycle
Fidelity’s Active Trader Tools help describes alerts for stocks, ETFs, options, and mutual funds. Price-movement alerts above or below a target, and percent-change alerts measured since the prior close, leave the active list after triggering. Alerts for a 52-week high or low and EMA crosses can remain active and notify you more than once until you delete them.

Fidelity delivers alerts to the Price Alerts tab in Message Center. Additional destinations include Active Trader Pro or ActiveTraderPro.com, email, and a mobile device; wireless-provider fees may apply to some device delivery. Triggered alerts remain in Message Center until the following day. Choose where notifications appear
Creating a condition and choosing its delivery destination are separate tasks. Review the platform’s notification settings and, if you want push notifications, confirm that notifications are allowed for the app in your device settings. The documented options differ:

- Yahoo Finance: the cited Android instructions describe a push notification for a met target; its iOS instructions provide an app-level notifications toggle.
- Schwab Mobile: use Schwab Mobile’s alert screens to review the mobile alerts you created; they do not synchronize with the named Schwab website and thinkorswim destinations.
- Fidelity Active Trader Tools: alerts appear in Message Center, with optional desktop/web, email, or mobile delivery as described above.
Do not assume that an alert will arrive instantly or through every channel. Delivery depends on the platform and your notification configuration; the cited instructions do not establish a universal delivery time. Menu names can also vary by app version, region, device, or security, so consult the provider’s current help page if a label differs.

After saving, reopen the platform’s alert list and confirm the security, threshold, direction, status, and delivery destination. Also check whether that particular alert is one-shot or stays active. Fidelity’s documented behavior differs by trigger type, while Schwab provides a separate triggered-alert list and Yahoo’s cited Android page describes a target-price push notification. Do not infer a repeat or expiry rule across all alert types from one example.
A price alert reports that a condition has been met; it does not place a buy or sell order. The provider instructions cited here describe notifications and alert management, not automatic trade execution. A notification is not a guarantee of an execution price or trade.
