Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsUse the child’s Amazon Kids profile and Parent Dashboard to set a daily screen-time allowance and, in the browser dashboard, control when the profile is available on weekdays and weekends. Amazon documents these access controls as the route for a bedtime-related cutoff, but its help page does not identify a separate “Bedtime” setting or specify the exact time-entry steps. Follow the labels shown in your current dashboard.
Choose the right profile first
For a child, use an Amazon Kids child profile rather than relying on the tablet’s general Parental Controls. Amazon describes those general controls as designed for adult profiles and directs parents of children under 13 to child profiles for managing a child’s use. See Amazon’s explanation of child profile settings and its overview of Fire tablet parental controls.

A child profile can be created at no additional cost on a compatible device. Amazon Kids+ is a separate subscription for premium kid-friendly content; it is not required for the basic profile controls described here. Amazon Kids features vary by device and are available only in select marketplaces, so the controls may differ by device or region. Amazon explains Amazon Kids and its availability.

Amazon Parent Dashboard is available in a web browser and as a mobile app. Amazon says a child profile is required. Open the dashboard, select the child’s profile, and use the controls for that profile. The dashboard interface can change, so use the current labels you see rather than expecting every app version or region to have identical menus. Amazon’s Parent Dashboard instructions describe the available controls.

Set a daily screen-time limit
A daily limit sets the child’s total screen-time allowance for the day. In the Parent Dashboard mobile app, Amazon directs parents to Daily screen time on the home screen. In a browser, select Set up time limits from the Parent Dashboard home page. Choose the allowance and save it using the options shown for the child’s profile. Amazon’s instructions cover daily limits in the app and browser.
Set weekday and weekend access for bedtime
To make the profile unavailable during chosen hours, use the weekday and weekend access controls in the browser-based Parent Dashboard. Amazon describes these controls as “Set access controls for weekdays and weekends.” Set the availability periods so they reflect when you want the child profile to be usable, including the evening cutoff you intend as bedtime.
Amazon’s cited instructions do not name a dedicated “Bedtime” menu or spell out the exact sequence for entering hours. Follow the access-control labels and time options shown in your current dashboard; do not assume a particular button name or tap sequence. Amazon’s Parent Dashboard guidance documents the weekday/weekend controls and screen-time limits.

After saving, return to the child’s profile in Parent Dashboard and check the displayed daily limit and access schedule. Confirm that the weekday and weekend periods are set as intended; the daily allowance and the hours when access is available are separate controls.
Daily limit, access schedule, or display sleep?
These settings solve different problems. Use the first two for a child’s use of the tablet; use display sleep only to control how long an idle screen stays on.
| Setting | What it controls | Where Amazon documents it |
|---|---|---|
| Daily screen-time limit | Total daily use allowance | Parent Dashboard app and browser; Amazon instructions |
| Weekday/weekend access controls | When the child profile is available on those days; use these for a bedtime-related cutoff | Browser-based Parent Dashboard; Amazon instructions |
| Display sleep timeout | How long the display stays on while idle | Fire tablet Settings > Display or Display & Sounds > Display Sleep or Sleep; Amazon instructions |
If you only change Display Sleep or Sleep, the screen turns off after inactivity; this does not set a child’s daily allowance or scheduled access. Amazon lists the timeout under Settings > Display or Display & Sounds > Display Sleep, with labels varying by device. See Amazon’s display-timeout guidance.
