In OBS, open Settings > Video and set Common FPS Value to 25. That controls OBS’s output frame rate. Your location in India does not change this setting: the cited YouTube guidance does not specify a separate 25 fps requirement for India.
Set the OBS output frame rate to 25 fps
- Open OBS Studio and select Settings.
- Select Video.
- Set Common FPS Value to 25, then apply the setting. OBS identifies this field as the desired output frame rate. See the OBS Studio Overview Guide.
Use the output frame rate that suits your footage and production. YouTube’s live encoder guidance accepts frame rates up to 60 fps, so 25 fps is within its stated ceiling. That does not guarantee every YouTube playback rendition will remain precisely 25 fps.

Choose the resolution separately
In Settings > Video, distinguish the two resolution fields:
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
- Base (Canvas) Resolution is the workspace where OBS arranges sources such as video, graphics, and capture inputs.
- Output (Scaled) Resolution is the resolution OBS sends to the stream or recording.
Choose an output resolution that fits your content and available upload capacity. Changing the canvas resolution alone does not set the stream’s output size. OBS explains these controls in its overview guide.

Set YouTube-compatible encoder options
In the encoder settings used for your YouTube Live stream, choose an accepted video codec and configure the settings to match YouTube’s guidance. YouTube recommends constant bitrate (CBR) and a two-second keyframe frequency; do not exceed a four-second keyframe interval. Its recommended bitrate depends on both resolution and codec. See YouTube’s live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions.
Bitrate at 25 fps: use the table carefully
YouTube’s published bitrate table does not give a separate 25 fps row. As a reference only, its H.264 1080p30 row lists 5 Mbps minimum and 14 Mbps recommended. Those figures are for 30 fps; they are not a YouTube-published 25 fps target. Select bitrate with the table’s codec and resolution guidance in mind rather than treating the 30 fps example as an exact match.

Check upload capacity and test before going live
Your connection needs enough stable outbound upload capacity for the chosen stream bitrate. YouTube’s streaming tips recommend keeping upload bandwidth 20% above that bitrate. This is a recommended margin, not a guarantee that a connection will remain stable.
- Run an upload-speed check under conditions similar to your planned stream, and make sure the available outbound capacity has that headroom.
- Test OBS with representative audio and movement; a static screen may not reveal issues that appear in a more active scene.
- Review YouTube’s stream health during the test and monitor it while live. YouTube’s streaming tips and encoder guidance cover bandwidth, testing, and monitoring.
What the India context changes—and what it does not
The OBS control is the same: set Common FPS Value to 25. The cited YouTube encoder guidance is general and does not establish a special 25 fps rule for streams sent from India, or different treatment by YouTube India. Choose frame rate, resolution, codec, and bitrate for your content and connection rather than assuming one frame rate is universally best for Indian channels.
