On Android, an employer can create an Android Enterprise Work Profile containing managed work apps and data while your personal profile remains separate. On iPhone, Apple uses account-driven User Enrollment or Device Enrollment: a Managed Apple Account and your personal Apple Account can coexist with managed-data separation, but iOS does not create an Android-style second, visible user profile.
The exact method, what your employer can configure, and how work data is removed depend on whether the phone is personal or company-owned and on your organization’s mobile-device-management service. Ask IT which enrollment method your organization supports before changing settings.

Choose the right separation method first
Start with two questions: which operating system is on the phone, and who owns the device? A personal Android phone normally uses a personally owned Work Profile. A personal iPhone normally uses Apple’s account-driven enrollment, if the organization supports it. Company-owned devices may use stricter device-management modes on either platform.
| Situation | Practical route | What is separated | Main dependency |
|---|---|---|---|
| Personal Android phone used for work | Android Enterprise Work Profile | Organization-managed work apps and data are held in a separate profile; the personal profile remains under your control. | Your employer’s enrollment system, policy and supported device. |
| Personal iPhone used for work | Apple account-driven User Enrollment or account-driven Device Enrollment | Managed and personal accounts, apps and data are separated through Apple’s enrollment model. | Your employer must support a Managed Apple Account and an Apple device-management service. |
| Samsung personal/BYOD phone | Knox Manage Work Profile enrollment | A Work Profile can be created for organizational apps and data. | Employer configuration and the exact supported model; Samsung’s documentation does not establish a universal model list. |
| Company-owned Android or iPhone | The organization’s corporate-device enrollment method | Potentially more settings and the whole device, depending on the mode selected by IT. | Ownership, enrollment mode and the organization’s policy. |
These are management arrangements, not merely two mailboxes in one app. Adding a second Gmail, Outlook or calendar account keeps accounts separate inside that app but does not create a boundary for work files, app installation, copy-and-paste rules or device removal.

- 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
- 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
- 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
- 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
- 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)
Android: use an Android Enterprise Work Profile
Android’s Work Profile is specifically designed to separate work apps and data from an employee’s personal data on personal and company-owned devices. Google describes the work profile as a container for organization-managed work apps and data, while personal-profile app use remains private. Work notifications can also be paused or toggled off when you are not working. See Google’s Android work profile documentation.
How the separation appears
- Work apps are installed in the Work Profile and normally display a small briefcase badge, making them distinguishable from personal copies.
- Your employer’s policies apply to the work profile and the apps and data inside it. Intune’s overview explains that apps and data outside the work profile remain personal and under the user’s control; read the Android Enterprise work profile management overview.
- The same app may exist in both profiles. A work copy of a browser, mail client or storage app has its own work data and sign-in, separate from the personal copy.
- A Work Profile is not a second Android user account. It is a managed profile attached to your primary device user.
Enroll a personal Android phone
The labels and screens vary by Android version and management service, so follow the URL or app supplied by your employer rather than downloading a random management app. For Intune-managed devices, Microsoft documents both web enrollment and Company Portal enrollment, with the current path depending on the organization’s tenant.
- Ask IT for the approved BYOD method. Confirm that your phone model and Android version are supported, whether the organization uses a web enrollment URL or an app, which work apps will be installed, and what the privacy notice says the administrator can manage.
- Back up personal information. Enrollment is intended to preserve personal data, but a current backup protects you from an unexpected reset or a mistake during device changes.
- Open only the employer-provided enrollment link or app. Microsoft’s current setup guidance says web-based enrollment is the default for new Intune tenants while Company Portal app-based enrollment is being phased out. The web flow currently requires Chrome, Edge or Samsung Browser, and Microsoft warns that passkey-only authentication cannot complete that flow. Check the current employer instructions at Set up enrollment of Android Enterprise personally owned work profile devices.
- Sign in with your work identity and accept the organization’s enrollment terms. You may be asked to install a management component or create a work profile; approve only the permissions that match the published work-use policy.
- Wait for the profile to finish provisioning. The management service installs required work apps and applies policy. Depending on the organization, you may need to set a work-profile passcode, enable a screen lock or complete a compliance check.
- Verify the boundary. Look for briefcase-badged work apps, a Work tab or work-profile section in Settings, and separate work notifications. Open a work app and confirm that it uses the organization account rather than your personal account.
- Set working-hour controls. Use the Work Profile pause switch or notification controls when available. Pausing stops work apps and notifications without deleting the profile; your employer’s policy may prevent or limit this feature.
Important Android limitations
Support is not automatic on every phone. The organization must have Android Enterprise configured, and the manufacturer and Android release must support the required mode. Android 15’s Private Space is treated as personal and is not supported for Intune management; it is not a substitute for a Work Profile. A phone that can install ordinary Android apps may still fail the employer’s enrollment or compliance requirements.

- SUPERIOR COMFORT — Unlike traditional circular ear buds, the design of EarPods is defined by the geometry of the ear. Which makes them more comfortable for more people than any other ear bud–style headphones.
- HIGH-QUALITY AUDIO — The speakers inside EarPods have been engineered to maximize sound output and minimize sound loss, which means you get high-quality audio.
- BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
- COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
- INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.
What an Android employer can and cannot manage
A Work Profile narrows the management boundary, but it does not mean that every setting is invisible to IT or that every personal action is unrestricted. The employer’s policy determines the actual controls. Typical controls apply to work apps, work accounts, work certificates, work network access and data-sharing rules inside the profile. An administrator may require a screen lock, block copying work text into personal apps, require an approved work app or remove the work profile when employment or access ends.
Android and Intune describe personal-profile app use and data outside the work profile as personal and under the user’s control. That is a platform and management-model statement, not a promise that an employer can never see any device-level information. Enrollment records can still identify the device, its compliance state or the fact that it is enrolled. Read the organization’s privacy notice for the precise inventory and diagnostics collected.
Keeping personal notifications and data out of work
- Use the work-badged version of an app for company files and the unbadged version for personal content.
- When sharing a document, check which profile’s share sheet is open. A work policy may block transfers to personal apps, while allowing approved destinations.
- Keep personal cloud storage, photos and messaging in the personal profile unless the organization explicitly provides a managed work alternative.
- Pause the Work Profile outside working hours if your policy allows it; otherwise mute work notifications individually.
iPhone: Apple’s account-driven enrollment is different
Apple does not provide a general-purpose, Android-style visible “work profile” switch for every iPhone. Instead, supported organizations use account-driven User Enrollment or account-driven Device Enrollment. Apple’s documentation says these methods allow a Managed Apple Account and a personal Apple Account to be signed in on the same device with separation of work and personal data. Read Apple’s account-driven enrolment methods with Apple devices, published 11 December 2024.

The Managed Apple Account is supplied by the organization; your personal Apple Account remains yours. The management service can support work-related apps, settings and accounts while the enrollment model is designed to keep personal information private. Availability is not an iPhone-wide feature: the employer must publish the enrollment service, create or federate the managed account and configure an Apple-compatible management system.
Enroll a supported personal iPhone
- Confirm the organization’s method. Ask whether IT supports account-driven User Enrollment or account-driven Device Enrollment for personally owned iPhones, and request the privacy notice and any restrictions.
- Make sure you have the managed account. The organization must provide the Managed Apple Account or a sign-in process. Your ordinary personal Apple Account is not a replacement for it.
- Open Settings > General > VPN & Device Management. Choose the organization’s “Sign In to Work or School Account” control when it is provided. Exact wording and placement can vary with iOS and management configuration.
- Authenticate to the organization. Complete the sign-in and any multifactor or device-compliance steps required by IT. Do not install a configuration profile from an unverified source.
- Review the enrollment information before accepting. Confirm which apps, accounts and settings are managed, whether the organization can remove managed apps and what happens when you unenroll.
- Check the resulting accounts and apps. Work apps may use the Managed Apple Account or a managed app distribution channel, while personal apps continue using your personal Apple Account. The interface will not necessarily show a separate home-screen profile.
What happens when Apple enrollment ends
Apple documents separate encryption keys for managed data. When you or the management service unenrolls the device, the operating system destroys those keys, making the managed data inaccessible, and managed apps are removed during unenrollment. Personal apps and personal data are not described as being removed by this managed-data process, but the organization’s enrollment mode and policy still matter. Export personal information from a work app only through an approved route before unenrolling; a work policy may prohibit copying it to a personal destination.
Android Work Profile and Apple enrollment compared
| Question | Android Enterprise Work Profile | Apple account-driven enrollment |
|---|---|---|
| Is there a separate visible profile? | Yes, a managed Work Profile with work-badged apps and profile controls. | Not usually as a second user-facing profile; separation is account- and management-driven. |
| Can personal and work accounts coexist? | Yes, work accounts and personal accounts live in their respective profiles. | Yes, a Managed Apple Account and personal Apple Account can be signed in on one device. |
| Where do policies apply? | Primarily to the Work Profile and its apps and data, subject to the employer’s configuration. | To managed accounts, apps, settings and data defined by the enrollment method. |
| What should you ask IT? | Supported model and Android version, enrollment URL or app, required work apps, copy/share restrictions and privacy information. | Supported enrollment type, Managed Apple Account, managed apps, restrictions, privacy information and unenrollment behavior. |
| What is removed at unenrollment? | The managed Work Profile and its work apps/data according to the management service’s policy; confirm the organization’s retention rules. | Apple says managed apps are removed and the separate encryption keys for managed data are destroyed. |
Samsung phones and Knox Manage
Samsung’s Knox Manage documentation lists Work Profile as an enrollment type for personal or BYOD devices. That makes Knox a possible employer-managed route on Samsung phones, but the documentation does not establish a current model-by-model compatibility list. Ask IT to confirm your exact model, Android version and enrollment instructions before assuming Knox will work. See Samsung Knox’s single-device enrollment documentation.

Replacing a phone or ending work access
Before buying a replacement
Buying another phone is usually unnecessary if the current device supports the required enrollment mode. If you are shopping for a replacement, give IT the exact model and regional variant before purchase. Confirm Android Enterprise Work Profile support or the iPhone enrollment requirements, required OS version, authentication method and any employer ban on rooted, modified or otherwise noncompliant devices. No generic privacy app, second email account or screen filter creates the managed boundary described here.
Before unenrolling or handing back a device
- Ask IT which work files must be returned and which records the organization retains.
- Move personal photos, contacts and documents out of work-managed storage using personal services that your policy permits.
- Remove personal accounts from a company-owned phone only after IT confirms the handover sequence.
- Use the organization’s removal command or Settings-based unenrollment path; do not factory-reset a company device unless instructed.
- After removal, verify that work-badged Android apps or managed Apple apps are gone and that personal apps still contain your personal data.
Troubleshoot common enrollment problems
The enrollment link opens but setup cannot finish
Check that you are using Chrome, Edge or Samsung Browser for an Intune web enrollment flow, and that your sign-in method is not passkey-only when Microsoft’s documented limitation applies. Try the exact current link from IT rather than an old bookmark. If the tenant still expects an app-based flow, ask whether Company Portal remains enabled for your organization.
No Work Profile appears after sign-in
Enrollment may have stopped before provisioning, the device may fail a compliance check, or the organization may not support personally owned devices. Look for a briefcase badge and a Work Profile entry in Settings. If neither exists, stop repeating the enrollment and ask IT to check the device record and tenant policy.

Personal apps cannot receive a work file
This is usually an intentional data-transfer restriction. Use the organization’s approved storage or sharing destination, or ask IT whether a managed version of the personal app is available. Do not bypass the restriction by emailing company data to yourself.
The iPhone does not show “Sign In to Work or School Account”
The organization may not support account-driven enrollment, may use a different enrollment method, or may require a newer operating-system version or an invitation link. Ask IT to confirm the supported method and the exact Settings path for your device.
A short privacy checklist before you enroll
- Ask whether the phone is treated as personally owned or company owned.
- Get the exact enrollment method, URL or app from IT.
- Read the privacy notice: identify what device information, compliance state and work data the organization can access or remove.
- Confirm whether work apps can be paused, whether copy-and-paste is restricted and whether screenshots or personal backups are limited.
- Find out what disappears when you leave, replace the phone or unenroll.
- Back up personal data and keep recovery access to your personal Apple or Google account.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I run two completely independent Android users instead of a Work Profile?
That is a different Android feature and may not satisfy an employer’s management requirements. Use the enrollment method IT approves; a second personal user does not automatically receive the organization’s work-app policies or data controls.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Will enrolling a personal phone make my employer the owner of my personal number or personal Apple/Google account?
Enrollment creates a managed relationship for the work resources defined by the organization. It does not transfer ownership of your personal account, but the organization may retain enrollment and compliance records. The employer’s privacy notice is the authoritative explanation of those records.
Can I keep work notifications off permanently?
On Android, a Work Profile can expose a pause or notification control, but the organization may restrict it. Apple account-driven enrollment does not guarantee an equivalent profile-wide pause switch; use the notification controls allowed by your organization and iOS.
The Bottom Line
For Android, request an Android Enterprise Work Profile. For iPhone, ask whether your employer supports account-driven User Enrollment or Device Enrollment with a Managed Apple Account. In both cases, read the organization’s privacy notice, verify what is managed, and use only the official enrollment instructions before signing in.
