Choose Photo Library, select a photo or video, and tap Done.

Address the email, add a subject and message if needed, then send it.
The photo may appear inline in the message or as an attachment control at the end, depending on its file size. Both are normal ways for Mail to display an attachment. Apple’s Mail attachment instructions describe this workflow.

Send one or more photos from Photos

For one photo, open it in Photos and tap Share.

For multiple photos, view the thumbnails, tap Select, and choose the photos you want to send. Tap Share.

Choose Mail from the sharing options. Use Show Selected if you want to review or change the selection before sharing.

Complete the email’s recipient, subject, and message, then send it.
This route is useful when you are already browsing or choosing pictures in Photos. Apple documents the selection and sharing steps in its iPhone photo-sharing guide.

Which method should you use?

What to do if the photos are too large
The maximum attachment size depends on your email service provider and account. If a file exceeds the maximum allowed by the account, Apple says Mail will show instructions for sending it with Mail Drop. Follow the on-screen prompts rather than assuming one attachment-size limit applies to every email provider. See Apple’s Mail instructions.

Check photo privacy and file format
When you share photos or videos, associated metadata can include the date and time, location, device, and captions. If you do not want to share that information, review the Photos sharing options before sending. Those options also let you choose a file format: Automatic selects a format for the destination, Current avoids format conversion, and Most Compatible may convert the item to JPEG or MOV. Apple explains these controls in its photo and video sharing guide.
