For a quick nearby transfer, use Quick Share with AirDrop if your Android model supports it. If it does not, Android’s Quick Share QR code lets an iPhone download files over the internet. For photo collections people can revisit or contribute to, use a shared album or photo link instead. The right choice depends on whether you need a saved file, a group album, or a link—and “anything” does not mean every app or file type transfers the same way.
Choose the method that fits what you are sharing
| Method | Best for | Requirements and access |
|---|---|---|
| Quick Share with AirDrop | A nearby, one-time transfer between supported devices | The Android model must be on Google’s compatibility list; the phones must be nearby. The recipient accepts the transfer. Google lists supported devices and instructions. |
| Quick Share QR code | Sending files to an iPhone when direct compatibility is unavailable | Both devices need internet. The recipient scans the code and downloads from a Google webpage; files are available for 24 hours. Google’s QR-sharing instructions and limits. |
| Google Photos shared link or album | Photos and videos people should browse later, or an album they can contribute to | Recipients can use a link across mobile platforms. Anyone with an enabled shared link may be able to view the album. Google Photos sharing options. |
| iCloud Link | An iPhone user’s one-time link for selected photos or videos | The link is available for 30 days. The sender can adjust location-data and format options before sharing. Apple’s iCloud Link instructions. |
Send files directly with Quick Share and AirDrop
Google supports Quick Share interoperability with AirDrop on specific Android devices, not every Android phone. The current supported list includes Pixel 10 and Pixel 9 families and selected Samsung Galaxy, Xiaomi, OnePlus, OPPO, HONOR, and vivo models. Check Google’s live compatibility list before relying on this route: availability can vary by device, carrier, region, and rollout.

- On the iPhone: Open Control Center, touch and hold the network settings tile, tap AirDrop, then choose “Everyone for 10 minutes.” This is the visibility setting Google specifies for the documented Android-to-iPhone flow.
- On Android: Select the item or items, open the share menu, and choose Quick Share.
- Select the iPhone: Tap the recipient shown in Quick Share, then have the iPhone user accept the transfer.
For the reverse direction, start in the iPhone share sheet with AirDrop while the Android device is in Quick Share receive mode. Samsung users may need to enable “Share with Apple devices” in Quick Share settings. Google announced the initial interoperability rollout for the Pixel 10 family on November 20, 2025; later support depends on the current device list, not that launch announcement alone. Use a QR code if direct compatibility is missing
Quick Share’s QR option is a fallback for sending files from Android to an iPhone that cannot be selected through the direct nearby flow. It is cloud-mediated: the sender creates a QR code, and the receiver uses a web download rather than receiving a direct device-to-device transfer.

Both phones need an internet connection; mobile data charges may apply without Wi-Fi. Google says files shared this way are end-to-end encrypted, uploaded to Google servers, do not use the sender’s personal Google Drive storage, and remain available to download for 24 hours. Its stated cross-platform limits are 10 GB per 24 hours, up to 1,000 files in one session, and up to 20 iPhone, iPad, or Mac receivers at a time. These are service limits, not speed or performance guarantees. The recipient should save the files: Google says the download link cannot be shared onward. See Google’s current Quick Share instructions.

A shared link is bearer access: anyone who has it may be able to view the album while link sharing is on. Removing a named person does not block someone who still has the original link. To end that route, turn link sharing off or reset the link; manage people and access in the album’s sharing settings.
iCloud Links for a quick share from iPhone Photos
On an iPhone, select photos or videos in Photos, open the share sheet, and enable iCloud Link to send a URL. Apple says an iCloud Link is available for 30 days, so use another storage or sharing arrangement if recipients need a permanent archive. Before sending, you can turn off location data and choose to preserve the current format or use a more compatible format that may convert files to JPEG or MOV. Apple also documents an “All Photos Data” option for sharing original files with edit history and metadata through certain methods. Check the available options in the share sheet for the method you are using. Apple’s instructions cover creating and managing iCloud Links.

Share a web link, contact, or other app content
For a website address or contact card, use the app’s normal Share action and send the item through a messaging app or email both people use. For a document or file recipients must revisit, use a cloud service’s access-controlled link and check its permissions before sending. There is no single universal Android-to-iOS sharing route established for every app-specific item; the receiving app and file format can affect what opens and how it behaves.

Check access and file behavior before sending
- Choose a saved file or a link deliberately: Quick Share and QR sharing deliver files for the recipient to download; photo links and albums are better for browsing later or collecting contributions.
- Review who can open a link: In particular, treat a Google Photos album link as transferable access while link sharing remains enabled.
- Review photo metadata: iPhone senders can adjust location-data sharing and format in the available Photos sharing options.
- Allow for app differences: The official instructions do not establish that every file type, receiving app, or app-specific workflow transfers identically.
- Check current limits and compatibility: Device support and service behavior can change; consult the linked Google or Apple instructions when a transfer matters.
