You can connect Apify’s Google Drive integration to a website screenshot Actor or saved task so successful runs send results to Drive. But do not assume that this always uploads the screenshot image itself: some screenshot Actors store image files in a Key-Value Store and put only links or metadata in the dataset. Run a test and verify the actual image file appears in Drive before relying on the workflow.
Set up automatic uploads with Apify’s Google Drive integration
The native integration is the simplest route when the output you need is included among the Actor run results that Apify sends to Drive. It connects to a Google account, lets you configure a filename and format, and uses an Apify Uploads folder as its destination. Successful runs trigger the integration by default. See Apify’s Google Drive integration documentation for the current setup details.

- Choose a screenshot Actor. Configure its input with the website URL or URLs you want to capture. Device choices and output formats depend on the Actor and its version; check its input schema and documentation rather than assuming every Actor offers the same options. Apify’s website screenshot tutorial demonstrates configuring a URL, device, and output format.
- Save a task if you want to reuse the configuration. A task stores the Actor configuration for repeat runs. Apify supports running Actors and tasks on schedules, so this is useful for recurring captures. See Apify’s documentation on running Actors.
- Configure the Drive integration. Open the Actor or task’s Integrations tab and select the Google Drive upload integration. Connect the Google account, set the filename and format, and save and enable the integration. The documented destination is the
Apify Uploadsfolder; successful runs trigger the upload by default. - Run a test capture. Check that the Actor run completed successfully, then open Drive and confirm that the expected screenshot image is present—not just a dataset export, link, or metadata file.
Check whether Drive received the screenshot image
Apify Actor outputs can be split across storage types. A screenshot Actor may save the image binary in an Actor Key-Value Store while placing a link and related metadata in a dataset. A dataset entry that points to an image is not itself the image file. The screenshot Actor documentation describes this separation; check the chosen Actor’s output details at Apify’s screenshot Actor page.
- If the Drive folder contains the image in the format you expect, the native integration is doing what you need.
- If it contains only dataset data, a link, or metadata, the image may still be in the Actor’s Key-Value Store. Do not treat a successful dataset export as confirmation that the binary was copied.
- If the image is missing, use a downstream integration-ready step or build a workflow that retrieves the Key-Value Store file and uploads that file to Drive.
Apify supports integrations that react to Actor run events, and external integrations can use the Apify API and monitor runs. The exact implementation depends on the screenshot Actor, the file’s storage key, and the workflow platform. Review Apify’s integrations documentation and test the specific file-level behavior you need.

Choose between the native integration and a custom workflow
| Consideration | Native Google Drive integration | API, webhook, or downstream step |
|---|---|---|
| Setup | Configure on an Actor or task and connect a Google account. | Requires configuring an integration-ready step or implementing a workflow with the Apify API/webhooks. |
| What gets transferred | Uploads run results; verify whether that includes the screenshot binary or only dataset output for your Actor. | Can be designed to retrieve and upload a specific Key-Value Store file; implementation depends on the Actor and workflow platform. |
| Scheduling and run events | Can be used with scheduled Actor/task runs; successful runs trigger Drive upload by default. | Can react to run events such as completion, with success and failure handling defined by the workflow. |
| Filename and format | Filename and format are configurable in the integration. | Controlled by the downstream workflow and the screenshot Actor’s outputs. |
| Google authorization | Connect the Google account in the integration configuration. | Managed by the integration or workflow platform used for the upload. |
Make captures recur and handle failures
For routine captures, schedule the Actor or saved task, then use the Drive integration for successful runs. If another workflow step is responsible for transferring the image binary, trigger it from the Actor run event and have it distinguish completed runs from failed ones. Apify documents scheduling and Actor integrations in its run documentation and integration documentation.
Before depending on a recurring workflow, test at least one normal run and one failure case. Confirm which file was uploaded, its filename and format, and what happens when capture or transfer fails. The available behavior can vary by Actor and integration configuration.

Troubleshoot missing or unexpected files
- The run succeeded, but the screenshot is absent: Check the Actor’s Key-Value Store and dataset separately. The dataset may contain a link rather than the binary. Configure a downstream step to retrieve the stored file and upload it if needed.
- Drive contains a dataset export instead of an image: Confirm the integration’s selected format and inspect the Actor’s outputs. A successful run-results upload does not, by itself, prove that a separately stored screenshot binary was transferred.
- Nothing was uploaded after a run: Confirm the integration is saved and enabled, the Google account is connected, and the run completed successfully. Successful runs are the documented default trigger.
- The filename or format differs from what you expected: Reopen the integration’s filename and format settings, and confirm that the screenshot Actor supports the intended output. Available capture options vary by Actor and version.
- A recurring upload stops after a failed capture: Check the run status and workflow event conditions. A success-triggered upload will not establish that failed runs should also be transferred; define failure alerts or recovery steps in the workflow if you need them.
Or skip the browser setup
If you need a clean website capture without configuring an Apify browser workflow, ScreenshotNeo returns a screenshot or PDF from one GET request. For example, save a PNG from a target page with cURL:
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minutecurl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://example.com -o shot.webp
See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for request options. ScreenshotNeo accepts cookie and consent banners and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; each of those steps can be turned off. Bot checks, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed, and responses identify the page verdict and billing status in headers. Its MCP server includes tools for AI agents to take screenshots, inspect page information, and capture PDFs. The Free plan includes 1,000 screenshots per month without a card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 screenshots.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use a saved Apify task for recurring screenshots?
Yes. Apify supports scheduled task runs; configure the task with the screenshot Actor and the integrations you want to run with it.
Does a dataset link mean the screenshot image was uploaded to Drive?
No. A dataset can contain a link or metadata while the image binary is stored separately in a Key-Value Store. Verify the file in Drive.
