Build a Zap with three steps: a trigger starts the workflow, a screenshot action captures the webpage, and Slack posts the result to a channel. Zapier publishes this pattern for daily screenshots using Schedule by Zapier, HTML to Image, and Slack. You can also use an event trigger instead of a schedule when a connected app should initiate the capture.
Build the Zap: trigger, screenshot, Slack message
- Connect Slack. In Zapier, open the Apps area, add a connection, choose Slack, and authenticate in Slack. Review and grant the requested access. Zapier’s help article says a Slack account is required; in a managed or restricted workspace, an owner or admin may need to install Zapier. Zapier’s Slack setup guide was updated October 1, 2026. It also notes a 10-app total limit for free Slack workspaces.
- Choose a trigger. For a recurring snapshot, use Schedule by Zapier and select its Every Day trigger, as in Zapier’s documented daily screenshot template. For event-driven delivery, use an appropriate trigger from an app connected to your Zap instead.
- Add a screenshot action. Select HTML to Image, enter the website URL, and configure the capture settings described below.
- Add Slack’s channel-message action. Choose the destination channel and map the screenshot action’s output into the message step using the fields available in your Zap editor.
- Test in Slack. Run the Zap’s test and inspect the destination channel. The documented workflow establishes the sequence, but does not specify a universal output-field mapping or guarantee whether Slack receives an uploaded image or a link. Confirm what your configuration actually sends before enabling the Zap.
Zapier’s templates, app listings, and available fields can change. Check the current editor for the exact action and field labels during setup.

Choose screenshot settings for the page
Zapier’s HTML to Image integration listing documents a webpage URL, full-page capture, wait time in seconds, and image quality. Set these based on what the Slack channel needs:
- URL: Use the page you want the Zap to capture.
- Full-page capture: Enable it when the complete page matters. Otherwise, a viewport capture may be sufficient.
- Wait seconds: Add time if the page needs extra time to render its content. The listing exposes this setting but does not establish a universally correct value.
- Image quality: Choose a setting suitable for how recipients will view the image in Slack.
Test the page and settings with the actual destination channel. A successful Zap test is useful, but the final check is whether the result is legible and arrives in the form your team expects.

When to use GetScreenshot instead
GetScreenshot is another capture action listed in Zapier. Its app page describes website screenshot and advanced website-element screenshot actions. The element action is relevant when you only need a particular region and know its CSS selector; the listing also exposes controls such as full-page capture, width, and additional wait time. The listing says Zaps with three or more steps require a Starter plan. Since plans and app catalogs can change, verify your account’s current requirements before relying on that detail. Compare capture actions by the needs of your page and workflow rather than assuming a speed, image-quality, or reliability advantage: those comparisons are not established by the listed documentation.

Troubleshoot a Zap that does not deliver the expected screenshot
- Slack is unavailable or cannot be connected: Check that the Slack account is authenticated in Zapier and that the requested access was granted. If workspace app installation is restricted, ask an owner or admin to help.
- The Zap runs but the message has no useful image: Reopen the Slack action and inspect its mapped fields. Run a test and check the result in the channel; the documented template does not guarantee whether the output is a file or a link.
- The capture is incomplete: Enable full-page capture if you need the whole page. If content appears only after rendering, try the wait setting and test again.
- The capture includes too much or too little: Decide whether the channel needs a full page, a viewport, or a specific element. For element capture with GetScreenshot, confirm that the selector identifies the intended page element.
- The Zap cannot be used under your current plan: Check the plan requirement shown in your Zapier account, especially if the workflow has three or more steps and you use GetScreenshot.
