Press INPUT on the VIZIO remote, highlight the HDMI input where your device is plugged in, and press OK. The HDMI number on the screen should match the number printed next to the TV’s port.
Switch to HDMI with the remote
- Turn on the TV and the device connected to it.
- Press INPUT on the VIZIO remote to open the input menu.
- Use the navigation controls to highlight the HDMI input matching the port used by the device. For example, a device plugged into HDMI-2 should be selected as HDMI-2.
- Press OK to select that input. On some remotes, you can press INPUT repeatedly to cycle through choices and release the button when the desired input is highlighted.
If your remote or menu is different
VIZIO menus vary by TV generation. The input-menu method is shown in the VIZIO V5-Series manual; an older manual uses MENU > Settings > Input Source instead. These are model-specific examples, not universal menu paths. If the instructions do not match your screen, find your TV’s model number on its label or in system information and consult its manual. Change the input without the remote
Depending on the model, you may be able to press the physical INPUT button on the TV to cycle through sources. Some VIZIO TVs also support the VIZIO SmartCast Mobile app: select the TV from the device list, tap Input, then choose the source. Button and app availability depend on the TV and software version. If HDMI is missing or there is no picture
- Check which HDMI port the device’s cable is plugged into, then select that same numbered input on the TV.
- If the expected input or menu option is not shown, check the manual for your exact model; input labels and menus can differ.
- If the selected input matches the port but the picture is still absent, changing inputs alone may not resolve the connection problem. Follow the model-specific troubleshooting guidance in the TV manual.
