Google Calendar for Android now includes a full-screen view for browsing and organizing your Google Tasks. That list view is separate from the calendar grid: a task appears on the grid only when it has a date and the Tasks layer is enabled.
Two ways Calendar shows tasks

The current Google Play description for Calendar says you can access and organize task lists in a full-screen view. Google’s Android help separately explains the requirements for showing tasks on the calendar grid.
How to add a task in Calendar
- Open Google Calendar on your Android phone or tablet.
- Choose any of these supported entry points:
- Tap an empty slot on the calendar and select Task.
- Tap Add, then choose Task.
- Tap Tasks at the top right and choose Add task.
- Enter the task details. Add a date if you want it placed on the calendar grid, and add a time when you want a timed notification.
- Save the task.
Make a task appear on the calendar grid
- Create or edit the task and assign it a date.
- Open the Calendar app menu.
- Make sure Tasks is checked in the list of calendars or layers.
A task without a date can remain in your task list but has no day on which Calendar can draw it in the grid. If the layer is hidden, dated tasks are also omitted from the grid until you enable it.
Find overdue and unfinished tasks
Open a day’s schedule and tap Pending tasks. Google describes this list as showing uncompleted tasks from the previous 365 days. This is the quickest Calendar view for checking work that was scheduled but not completed.

Understand task notifications
- A task with a date and time can notify you at that scheduled time.
- A task with a date but no time notifies at 9 a.m. local time, according to Google’s Android help.
- A task with a deadline receives a deadline-day notification at 9 a.m. local time.
Edit, complete, repeat, or delete tasks
Calendar’s task controls let you change task details, mark an item complete, delete it, create repeating tasks, and hide completed tasks. Repeating tasks that contain subtasks are not supported. Google also notes that only a limited number of upcoming instances of a repeating task are displayed on the calendar grid at one time, so the grid is not a complete forecast of every future occurrence.

Google announced on October 2, 2020, that people could create and view tasks in Calendar’s Android and iOS apps. That announcement described a gradual rollout of up to two weeks for G Suite customers and personal Google Accounts.

It does not establish when the newer full-screen Android task-list view first rolled out. Google’s current materials confirm that the view is available, but they do not provide an original launch date or an account-eligibility schedule for that specific screen.
Google’s September 20, 2022 Tasks integration announcement provides additional context: Google planned to migrate Assistant and Calendar reminders to Google Tasks so tasks could sync across services such as Gmail, Calendar, and Chat. It is not a dated announcement for the full-screen Android list view.
