Meta describes Home as the discovery-oriented destination and Feeds as the place to see recent posts from connected sources.
Why Facebook’s Home feed looks different
Facebook separates two destinations that can be easy to mistake for one another. Meta’s description of Home and Feeds says Home is designed for discovering content, including recommendations, while Feeds is for recent posts from sources you’re connected to. If Home is showing unfamiliar suggestions, switch to Feeds rather than expecting Home itself to be a purely chronological stream.

Meta’s December 9, 2025 announcement described a refreshed menu, cleaner tab notifications, and changes to the tab bar and Feed presentation. It did not say the recent-posts feature in Feeds had been removed. The exact navigation layout can differ across accounts and devices, so the shortcut may not be in the same place for everyone.
How to open Feeds and see recent posts
- Open Facebook’s navigation. In the app, use the navigation area or tap Menu if that is how your version presents it.
- Find and open Feeds. Look for Feeds in the available destinations. Facebook’s interface can vary, so if it is not immediately visible, check the Menu or the navigation customization options available to your account.
- Choose a source filter. Select Friends, Favorites, Pages, or Groups when those filters are offered. Meta’s product explanation describes Feeds as showing recent posts from connected sources.
Facebook Help Center guidance also points to Feed Preferences and a way to see the most recent posts. If the wording in your app differs from these instructions, follow the current labels shown in your version of Facebook.
Home and Feeds: which one should you use?
| Destination | What it is for | Useful when |
|---|---|---|
| Home | Discovery-oriented browsing, including recommended content, according to Meta. | You want Facebook to surface content beyond the sources you already follow. |
| Feeds | Recent posts from connected sources, according to Meta. | You want to check recent posts from friends, Favorites, Pages, or groups. |
Feeds is a recent-post view, not a guarantee that you will see every post ever published by those sources or a stream with no ads. Launch-period reporting on the feature noted that ads could appear in Feeds.
Use Feed Preferences to tune what appears
If you want to adjust what Facebook shows across your experience, Feed Preferences provide controls separate from opening Feeds. Meta’s Feed customization announcement describes options including Favorites, snoozing or reconnecting with sources, and choosing to see more or less of particular content or sources.

Use those settings to fine-tune what appears; use Feeds when your immediate goal is to browse recent posts. Preferences do not replace the Feeds destination.
What if you want a friends-focused view?
Facebook also began rolling out a distinct Friends tab in 2025, described at the time as a place centered on friends’ posts. Its availability should not be assumed for every account. If you see a Friends tab, it can offer another friends-focused route; otherwise, open Feeds and choose Friends if that filter is available.

The available Meta descriptions explain how to open Feeds, but do not establish a universal setting that permanently makes it the default destination instead of Home. The reliable approach is to open Feeds from navigation whenever you want recent posts, rather than expecting Facebook to remember that choice on every visit.
