If you’re locked out or your account email was changed, follow Discord’s recovery route immediately—the email undo link is valid for 48 hours.
If you can still log in, secure the account first
Discord’s Help Center article My Discord Account was Hacked or Compromised recommends resetting your password and ensuring MFA is enabled. Work through these steps in order, using a device you trust.

- Change your password. Choose a new, unique password of at least eight characters. A password manager can generate and store one. If you cannot remember the current password, select “Forgot your password?” on the login screen; Discord sends reset instructions to the account email. You may be asked for MFA during a change or reset. See Discord’s password guidance.
- Enable MFA or verify your methods. Discord supports passkeys and security keys, authenticator apps, and SMS. Its guidance recommends security keys. Save the backup codes somewhere secure when setting up MFA; each code can be used only once. See Passkeys and Security Keys on Discord and Discord’s MFA FAQ.
- Remove unwanted app access. Open User Settings → Authorized Apps and deauthorize anything you do not recognize or no longer use. Discord documents the settings route for desktop, browser, and mobile in its compromised-account guidance.
- Check the device you used. If you are concerned that a Windows device may be compromised, Discord recommends running a Windows Defender scan. Suspicious links, files, and social engineering can also put account access at risk.
- Check for an email-change notice. If Discord says your account email was changed without permission, use the recovery link sent to your previous email address; details are below.
Choose MFA with recovery in mind
MFA adds a second step beyond the password. Discord’s options differ in how they work and how you recover if a device is unavailable:

If your Discord email was changed
Search the inbox for the previous email address for Discord’s message about the change. Select its undo or recovery link promptly. Discord says the link expires after 48 hours and that Support cannot issue a new one after it expires. Follow Discord’s article, My Discord Email was Changed and I Want to Undo It.
The recovery flow restores the previous email, asks you to set a new password, and logs the account out of devices. It also removes the phone number and MFA methods on the account. After recovery, add back the phone number and MFA methods you want to use.

If you are locked out of MFA
Try recovery options in this order, as described in Discord’s Locked Out of Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) guide:

- If you configured SMS MFA, try the SMS verification option.
- If you are still logged in on another device, use that session to disable and then re-add MFA.
If none of these options is available, Discord says Support cannot remove MFA or provide replacement backup codes. Do not assume staff can bypass this safeguard.

When to contact Discord Support
If you cannot secure the account, cannot regain access, or find unauthorized transactions, submit a report through Discord’s hacked-account support route. Include transaction details if they are relevant. Discord says staff will not contact you directly through the Discord app about support matters, and it warns that it may be unable to recover an account that was not secured.
For a Discord transaction you do not recognize, Discord cautions against filing a chargeback directly with your financial institution because the account may be suspended while the matter is investigated. For a refund request, contact Discord’s billing team.
