Rest two fingers on the touchpad and move them down to move down the page; move them up to move up. Moving both fingers left or right scrolls horizontally. Google describes this general Chromebook gesture in its touchpad instructions.

Scroll with the touchscreen
If your Samsung Chromebook has a touchscreen, drag one finger down the screen to move down the page. Dragging up, left, or right moves the page in that direction, as described in Google’s Chromebook touchscreen instructions.

Change the touchpad’s scroll direction
If two-finger scrolling feels reversed, change the Reverse option in touchpad settings. The menu wording may vary with ChromeOS version.

- Select the time in the bottom-right corner of the screen.
- Open Settings.
- Under Device, select Touchpad or Touchpad and mouse.
- Change the Reverse scrolling option. With Reverse off, swiping up moves the page up; with Reverse on, swiping up moves the page down.
If those exact labels are not shown, look in the current device or touchpad settings for the scroll-direction control. Google’s touchpad help page documents the setting.
If the touchpad does not respond
Try these basic checks in order:
- Wipe away dust or dirt from the touchpad.
- Press Esc several times.
- Drum your fingers on the touchpad for ten seconds.
- Restart the Chromebook.
Google also lists a factory data reset as a possible troubleshooting step. Because a reset is disruptive, consult Google’s current touchpad guidance before trying it. If the touchpad still fails, contact the Chromebook manufacturer.

Other ways to scroll
A mouse with a scroll wheel is an optional alternative if you prefer a physical wheel or need another input method. Google lists wired, wireless, and Bluetooth mice among peripherals Chromebooks can connect to; check compatibility for a particular mouse before buying it. See Google’s Chromebook device and peripheral guidance.
These gestures and settings describe Chromebook behavior generally. Since no Samsung model is specified, the exact hardware and menu labels on your device may differ.
