To screenshot a URL submitted through Google Forms, use a Zapier form-response trigger and pass the submitted URL answer—not the form’s URL—to a screenshot action. First link the form to a Google Sheet; Zapier says it needs that connection to access responses. Then map the URL answer into the screenshot service’s required URL field and test the result before turning on the Zap.
What you need before building the Zap
- A Google Form with a question for the webpage URL. Make it clear that respondents should submit a complete URL, such as
https://example.com. - A Google Sheet linked to the form to store responses. Zapier’s Google Forms setup guide, updated October 1, 2026, says responses must be saved to a Google Sheet for the integration to work because the form itself cannot be accessed directly without that connection.
- A Zapier account and an available screenshot action, such as Screenshot API, HTML to Image, or ScreenshotOne. Their listed fields and availability may change.
Build the Google Forms-to-screenshot Zap
- Link the form to a spreadsheet. In Google Forms, open the form’s Responses tab and link or create its response spreadsheet. Confirm a test submission appears in the sheet.
- Create the trigger. In Zapier, create a Zap and choose Google Forms as the trigger app. Zapier currently lists New Form Response and New or Updated Form Response. Select the form, connect the Google account, and test the trigger. The test record should include the answer to the URL question.
- Add a screenshot action. Choose an available screenshot app and its website-capture action. For the Screenshot API listing, the action is Take Screenshot; it requires URL or Website and Output Format inputs.
- Map the answer, not the form link. In the action’s URL field, insert the dynamic response value corresponding to the form’s URL question. Do not use the Google Form URL or the response-sheet URL: those identify the form or its records, not the page the respondent asked to capture.
- Set capture options and test. Choose an output format and decide whether you need a full-page image or only the visible viewport. Configure any available size, delay, or load controls based on the action and page, then test with a URL you are authorized to access.
- Check what the action returns. Inspect the test result for an image, image URL, or other output. If you need to keep or deliver the capture, add a subsequent Zap step to send the returned output to a suitable destination, such as storage, email, or a record field.
- Turn on the Zap. Before enabling it, confirm the tested trigger contains the submitted URL answer, the screenshot action uses that answer, and the output is usable in the next step.
Choose the screenshot action and configure it
Zapier’s integration listings describe different controls and outputs. Treat them as available options, not as proof that a service is faster, cheaper, or more reliable than another.

| Zapier-listed action | Controls or outputs described in its listing | What to verify in your Zap |
|---|---|---|
| Screenshot API — Take Screenshot | Required URL or Website and Output Format inputs; settings include full-page capture, delay, load event, width and height, and extraction options. | Confirm the URL field uses the form answer and that the selected format and dimensions produce an output your next step can use. |
| HTML to Image — Convert URL to Image (Screenshot a Website) | Full-page capture, wait time, image quality, and generated image URL options. | Check whether the action returns an image URL and whether the destination step can access it. |
| ScreenshotOne — website screenshot action | Full-page, viewport, delay, and wait controls. | Check whether the available output suits the destination you chose. |
The integration listings do not establish a universally correct wait duration or guarantee that every site will render. For a slow or dynamic page, adjust the action’s available delay or wait controls and test again. Use full-page capture when content below the fold matters; use viewport capture when only the initial visible area is needed.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Test carefully: submitted URLs are input data
A working trigger and successful test capture do not establish that every submitted page will load. A URL may point to a page that requires login, blocks automated access, redirects, or renders content only after scripts run. Site behavior and screenshot-action settings affect the result.

- Test with a page the Zap owner is authorized to access.
- Use a representative URL and inspect the captured image rather than relying only on a successful Zap test status.
- If URLs come from people you do not control, consider how your workflow handles unexpected destinations before allowing the capture step to process them.
- Do not promise respondents that all pages will be captured successfully; access restrictions and page behavior can prevent a usable image.
Common problems and fixes
The Google Forms trigger has no response data
Confirm the form is linked to a Google Sheet, reconnect the Google account if needed, and run the trigger test again. The Google Sheets connection is a prerequisite in Zapier’s documented setup.
The screenshot action captures the wrong page
Inspect the mapped value in the test record. Replace the form or spreadsheet link with the dynamic answer to the URL question, and check that the submitted value includes the intended webpage address.

The action rejects or cannot load the URL
Check that the answer is a complete, valid webpage URL and that the Zap owner can access the target. A login wall, automated-access restriction, redirect, or site-specific behavior may prevent capture; the listed integrations do not promise universal compatibility.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteThe image is incomplete or blank
For pages that populate content after initial load, try the action’s available delay, wait, or load-event controls and test again. If only the top portion appears, check whether full-page capture is enabled. No single wait setting is established as correct for every site.

The next Zap step cannot use the result
Review the screenshot action’s test output. Some listings describe a generated image URL, while output details depend on the chosen action. Map the actual returned image or URL into the destination step and test that step independently.

No. Zapier’s setup guide says responses must be saved to a Google Sheet for the integration to work.
