For a full-page image, use Chrome DevTools: open the page, press Ctrl+Shift+I, then Ctrl+Shift+P, search for Capture full size screenshot, and run the matching command. To capture only what is visible—or a selected area—use a Windows screenshot shortcut instead. If a document is acceptable, Chrome can save a printable version as PDF.
Choose what you need to capture
| Method | What it captures | Output | Use it when |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chrome DevTools full-size command | The entire webpage, including content beyond the visible screen, according to Chrome Community guidance | Image | You need a full-page screenshot |
| Windows+Shift+S | A selected visible area | Screen capture | You need just part of the page currently on screen |
| PrtScn or Windows+PrtScn | The visible screen | Screenshot; save behavior depends on shortcut and device | You want a quick capture of what is on screen |
| Chrome Ctrl+P | Printable page content | PDF document | You need a document to store or share rather than an image |
Take a full-page screenshot with Chrome DevTools
This method is intended to capture a webpage beyond the portion currently visible in the browser. The steps below come from Chrome Community guidance; the exact command label or availability may vary with Chrome versions.

- Open the webpage in Chrome.
- Press Ctrl+Shift+I to open DevTools.
- Press Ctrl+Shift+P to open the DevTools command menu.
- Search for Capture full size screenshot.
- Run the matching command. Chrome captures the full page as an image; check the browser’s download notification to locate the result.
This is different from capturing the visible screen: the full-size command is the relevant choice when the page extends below the browser viewport. Chrome Community guidance is practical rather than a current official Chrome Help procedure, so a changed interface may not show the same wording.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesCapture only the visible screen or a selected area
Select a region with Windows+Shift+S
Press Windows key+Shift+S to open Snipping Tool’s screen-selection interface, then select the visible portion you want. This is useful for a chart, paragraph, or browser area, but it does not turn the capture into a scrolling, full-page screenshot. The exact saving workflow can depend on your Windows configuration.

Capture the current screen with PrtScn
Press PrtScn for a basic screen capture, or Windows key+PrtScn for the direct-save shortcut described in Chrome Community guidance. Keyboard layouts differ: some laptops require an Fn combination, and some keyboards do not have a dedicated PrtScn key. Where the image is saved depends on the device and Windows setup, so check the on-screen notification or your configured screenshot location rather than assuming a particular folder.
Save the webpage as a PDF instead of an image
- Open the page in Chrome and press Ctrl+P.
- In the print options, select a destination such as Save as PDF.
- Choose the available print settings and save the file.
Google Chrome Help documents the print workflow, and its Hindi desktop shortcut help lists Ctrl+P for Windows and Linux. A PDF is a document representation of printable page content, not a screenshot image. Interactive elements or the exact styling of the website may not be preserved.

Keep Chrome manageable on a low-end PC
Start with tools already available in Chrome and Windows rather than installing several screenshot extensions. If Chrome is already sluggish, close tabs you are not using before capturing a long page. Google recommends closing unused tabs and disabling or removing unwanted extensions as general Chrome performance practices. There is no established RAM requirement or measured speed gain for these screenshot methods, and DevTools is not guaranteed to use fewer resources than an extension.
Troubleshoot common problems
- The capture stops at the visible screen: You likely used a regular screen capture. For a full-page image, open DevTools and look for the full-size screenshot command instead.
- You cannot find the DevTools command: Open the command menu with Ctrl+Shift+P after DevTools is open and search for the exact phrase. The label or availability may differ by Chrome version; if it is not present, use Windows capture for the visible screen or Save as PDF when a document is acceptable.
- PrtScn does nothing: Check whether your keyboard requires Fn with the key, or use Windows+Shift+S to select a visible region.
- You cannot find the saved screenshot: Save behavior varies by device and Windows configuration. Check the notification or saving interface associated with the shortcut you used; do not assume every shortcut saves to the same location.
- The page or browser becomes sluggish during a large capture: Close unused tabs and disable unwanted extensions as general Chrome housekeeping. No specific performance improvement for screenshot capture is established.
