Scroll the page—or the specific nested container used by the observer—until each required target enters the observer’s root, wait for the expected content to appear, and then take a full-page screenshot. A full-page capture covers the scrollable page; it does not automatically trigger every observer or wait for the content those observers load.
Why a full-page screenshot can miss content
IntersectionObserver asynchronously notifies a page when a target intersects a configured root or crosses a configured threshold. Sites commonly use it to defer image loading or add items as a visitor scrolls. If the relevant targets never intersect their root before capture, their content may not have been requested or rendered.

The root can be the browser viewport or an element that scrolls inside the page. Scrolling the window will not bring a target into view relative to a nested root if that container itself has not moved. Also, the observer’s initial callback does not mean all targets are visible: a callback entry can have isIntersecting set to false.
A browser’s load event is not a reliable signal that lazy content is ready. MDN explains that it fires when eagerly loaded content has finished loading; content deferred until an intersection can still be pending. See MDN’s load event documentation and MDN’s Intersection Observer API reference.

Workflow: trigger the content before capture
- Load the page to its initial usable state. Navigate to the page and wait for a stable landmark or other condition that shows the initial view is ready. Do not treat the document’s
loadevent as proof that below-the-fold content is loaded. - Find the observer’s scroll context. Determine whether the observed targets use the document viewport or a particular scrollable ancestor. If you do not know, inspect the page’s behavior: scroll the inner panel and see whether its content appears, rather than assuming the window is the right target.
- Scroll incrementally through the relevant area. Move the viewport or nested scroller so targets enter the observer root. After each movement, allow callbacks, requests, and rendering to run. Wait for meaningful evidence—such as expected text or a known element—rather than relying only on a fixed delay.
- Verify required assets and content. For images, check that the image has completed and that it loaded successfully. Repeat the scroll-and-wait cycle for targets further down the page.
- Set a stopping condition, then capture. Stop when the required content is present and the relevant page area is no longer extending or changing. Infinite-scroll pages may not have a natural end: define a final item, count, or other explicit boundary before taking the screenshot.
Playwright example: scroll, wait, and capture
This JavaScript example scrolls the document in viewport-sized steps, waits for a page-specific text condition, and saves a full-page screenshot. Replace the expected text and readiness checks with conditions that actually identify the content needed from your target page. It is an illustrative workflow, not a claim that the code was tested against a particular site.
await page.evaluate(async () => {
const step = Math.max(1, window.innerHeight);
for (let y = 0; y < document.documentElement.scrollHeight; y += step) {
window.scrollTo(0, y);
await new Promise(resolve => setTimeout(resolve, 150));
}
});
// Replace this with a condition that proves the content you need is present.
await page.getByText("Expected loaded content").waitFor();
await page.screenshot({ path: "full-page.png", fullPage: true });
The pause gives the page an opportunity to process each scroll event, but it is only a convenience. A check for the actual text, element, or successful image load is stronger evidence that the desired content is ready. Playwright describes fullPage: true as capturing the full scrollable page; that option controls capture extent, not whether the page has triggered all of its lazy-loading work. See Playwright’s screenshot documentation.

When the page grows while you scroll
The loop evaluates the document height as it runs. If new items are appended after the loop has passed the previous bottom, run another pass until your chosen final-content condition is met. For an endless feed, do not keep scrolling indefinitely: define what counts as complete for your task.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesWhen the observer uses a nested scroller
Scroll the container that acts as the observer root, not just the window. Adapt the page-side scrolling logic to that element, and wait for an expected item inside it. The correct element and readiness condition depend on the target site; a document-level scroll loop cannot guarantee that an unrelated nested panel has moved.

Readiness checks and common failure modes
- Only the top of the page appears. The capture may have happened before off-screen targets intersected their root. Scroll through the relevant area first, then verify that expected content is present.
- Window scrolling has no effect on lazy content. The observer may use a nested scroll container. Move that container and check whether its targets load.
- The page reports loaded, but images are missing. The load event covers eagerly loaded resources, not necessarily images deferred until an intersection. For each required image, inspect its
completeproperty and confirm it loaded successfully; a completed image can still have failed. - Network activity never becomes idle. Do not use generic network-idle as the only readiness test. Playwright discourages it for testing and recommends assertions to assess readiness. A page may keep connections open or perform unrelated background work. Wait for the content that matters instead; see Playwright’s load-state guidance.
- The screenshot cuts off newly appended items. Scrolling may have triggered more content after the first pass. Repeat the pass and wait for a defined final item or stopping condition before capture.
- Content still does not appear after scrolling. Intersection may not be the only gate. The page could require authentication, a consent action, or another application-specific state. Complete that action and wait for its resulting content before capture.

ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server. For an ordinary page capture, a single GET request returns an image or PDF; however, the IntersectionObserver workflow still requires the page’s content to be triggered and ready before capture. ScreenshotNeo’s full-page capture loads lazy images, but page-specific infinite-scroll stopping conditions may still need to be handled by your workflow.
For a basic capture, install Python’s requests package and set YOUR_API_KEY to your ScreenshotNeo access key:

Does Playwright’s full-page option trigger IntersectionObserver callbacks?
It captures the full scrollable page, but capture extent is separate from triggering observers. Scroll the relevant root and establish content readiness before taking the screenshot.
