Use your browser’s full-page capture—not a series of ordinary screenshots—to save a long webpage in one image. For a sharper result, set an appropriate device pixel ratio (DPR), let the page finish rendering, and inspect the saved image at the size where you intend to use it. More pixels can improve rendered detail, but cannot restore detail missing from the original images.
Choose a full-page capture method
Firefox and Chrome DevTools both document ways to capture content beyond the visible viewport. Pick the browser route that matches the control you need.

| Need | Method | Useful controls |
|---|---|---|
| Save or copy a whole-page image with minimal setup | Firefox: right-click an empty part of the page and choose Take Screenshot, then Save full page. | Save to the default download folder or copy to the clipboard. Mozilla Support |
| Set delay, filename, DPR, or capture a specific element | Firefox Web Console: use the :screenshot helper. |
--fullpage, --dpr, --delay, --filename, and --selector. Firefox Source Docs |
| Capture the full page with viewport or device settings | Chrome DevTools: open Device mode, then choose More options > Capture a full size screenshot. | Set the viewport and device pixel ratio in Device mode. Chrome for Developers |
The Firefox keyboard shortcut for opening its screenshot tool is Ctrl+Shift+S on Windows and Linux, or Command+Shift+S on macOS. The Firefox screenshot tool distinguishes the visible area from the full page.

Capture in Firefox with the built-in tool
- Open the page and wait for its content to load.
- Right-click an empty area of the page and select Take Screenshot, or use the operating-system shortcut above.
- Choose Save full page to capture beyond the viewport.
- Choose the save or copy option. A saved image goes to Firefox’s default download folder.
- Open the result and check the top, middle, and bottom for missing or repeated content.
Control Firefox captures with the Web Console
Firefox’s :screenshot helper is useful when you need to control image scale, wait before capture, set an output filename, or limit the capture to an element. For example, enter this in the Web Console to capture the full page at a DPR of 2 after a short wait:

- Easy Plug-And-Play: The Brio 101 works with most video calling platforms, including Microsoft Teams, Zoom and Google Meet—no hassle; it just works
:screenshot --fullpage --dpr 2 --delay 1000 --filename page.png
Replace page.png with the filename you want. The helper also supports --selector to capture a selected element and its descendants; use that when you need one part of a long page rather than the whole page. Avoid reusing a filename unless you intend to overwrite its existing capture.
What the DPR setting changes
DPR is the ratio of physical pixels to logical CSS pixels. A higher DPR asks the browser to render more output pixels for the same CSS-sized content, which can help preserve legibility when the image will be enlarged or displayed at high resolution. It does not add detail to a source image that was already low resolution. Compare the saved dimensions and judge the image at its intended display or print size.

- The adjustable universal clip lets you attach the camera securely to your screen or laptop, or fold the clip and set the webcam on a shelf. You’re always ready for your next video call.
Capture in Chrome DevTools
- Open Chrome DevTools and enable Device mode.
- Set the viewport or device settings for the page layout you want to capture.
- Set the device pixel ratio if you need control over rendered pixel density.
- Open the Device mode More options menu and choose Capture a full size screenshot.
- Inspect the resulting image from top to bottom, especially at page transitions and around dynamic content.
Chrome defines DPR as the ratio between physical screen pixels and logical CSS pixels and uses it when drawing for HiDPI displays. A full-size capture avoids the need to take and manually stitch a sequence of viewport screenshots.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteKeep the saved image clear and complete
- Capture the page at its intended width. Changing viewport width can change responsive layouts and text wrapping, so set the width before taking the full-page shot.
- Let rendering finish. Wait for the page and important images to appear. For Firefox’s console helper, add a delay with
--delayif the page needs extra time before capture. - Use DPR deliberately. Increase it when you need more output pixels, but remember that the page’s original images and content limit the detail available.
- Do not upscale a small screenshot expecting new detail. Enlarging pixels in an image editor cannot recover fine text or image information that was not captured.
- Inspect the entire result. Check the top, middle, and bottom for blank sections, missing images, cut-off content, or unexpected repeated elements. Dynamic pages may not behave identically in every capture.
- Choose an appropriate format and destination. A tall raster image works for sharing a page as an image. If your goal is print, consider whether a PDF suits the task better and inspect the export before sharing; the documented browser instructions do not establish a browser-by-browser print-quality winner.
Troubleshooting common capture problems
| What you see | Likely cause | What to try |
|---|---|---|
| The screenshot stops at the visible viewport | A visible-area capture was selected instead of a full-page command. | In Firefox choose Save full page; in Chrome Device mode choose Capture a full size screenshot. |
| Text looks soft when enlarged | The output has too few pixels for the size at which it is being viewed, or the original content lacks detail. | Capture at a suitable DPR in Firefox’s helper or Chrome Device mode. Do not assume a higher DPR can sharpen low-resolution source images. |
| Images or sections are missing | The page may still be rendering or loading dynamic content when the capture begins. | Wait for the page to settle; in Firefox’s helper, try a longer --delay, then inspect the full output. |
| Content appears repeated or cut off | The page’s dynamic behavior may affect how it renders in a full-page capture. | Try the browser’s documented full-page route again after the page has finished rendering and review the whole image before relying on it. |
| An earlier capture disappears after saving another | The Firefox console helper overwrites an existing capture when the same filename is reused. | Choose a different value for --filename for each capture you want to keep. |
