Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesShort answer: do not build an unapproved HTML scraper for Indeed. Start by defining the fields and purpose, then use an Indeed-approved API or partner integration whose documentation permits that use. Indeed’s rules restrict scraping, permanent copies of End User or Job Seeker content, automated queries that replace human input, and attempts to bypass limits or security controls.
People searching for a way to “scrape Indeed jobs” usually need a structured feed of titles, employers, locations, descriptions, posting status, or company fields for recruiting, search, analytics, or a job board. The technical act of downloading a page is easy; obtaining and retaining the data lawfully, accurately, and reliably is the difficult part.
Is scraping Indeed jobs or company pages allowed?
Indeed’s current Terms of Service, API terms, developer terms, and program documentation govern access. Indeed says it can monitor and limit API calls, requests, and users, and can restrict or terminate access. Its Developer Agreement prohibits users from “scrape[ing], build[ing] databases or otherwise create[ing] permanent copies” of End User or Job Seeker content except when required for an approved integration or expressly permitted by documentation.
That means a script that repeatedly crawls job pages, copies descriptions into a permanent database, evades a login or CAPTCHA, or sends algorithmic queries intended to replace a person is not a compliant default. Robots.txt, a low request rate, or rotating IP addresses does not create permission. Do not work around bot controls, rate limits, paywalls, or other security devices.

Indeed’s Terms FAQ is only a convenience guide, not legal advice or a replacement for the binding terms. For a commercial project, have counsel review the current agreement and your intended use.
Define exactly what you need before requesting access
Write a short data specification before choosing an integration. Separate data that is displayed temporarily from data you intend to retain permanently.
- Job-ad fields: title, employer identifier, location, description, employment type, posting or update time, status, and application link.
- Employer fields: canonical company name, employer identifier, ATS identifier, locations, and profile attributes exposed by the approved program.
- Application events: only if your approved integration explicitly covers application or hiring events.
- Profile data: job-seeker information is a separate, more sensitive category; never assume that a public-looking page permits collection or retention.
Record the purpose as well: internal recruiting, an employer’s own listings, an ATS workflow, analytics, or a public search product. The approved purpose controls what you may request, show, share, and store. A project that creates a competing Indeed-like experience or harms users can fall outside permitted use even when individual pages are publicly visible.
Choose an authorized Indeed route
Review the Indeed Developer Portal and current API documentation before writing a collector. Available programs, eligibility, limits, billing, and retention rules vary.
| Route | Typical fit | Questions to confirm |
|---|---|---|
| Employer Data API | Linking jobs to employer and ATS records | Onboarding approval, required identifiers, permitted display and storage, freshness, and deletion rules |
| Job Sync | An employer or ATS sending job information through a documented integration | Who owns the feed, supported fields, update and removal behavior, authentication, and limits |
| Indeed Apply | Receiving applications through an approved Indeed workflow | HTTPS endpoint requirements, privacy disclosures, event payloads, security, and retention |
| Sponsored Jobs API | Managing sponsored-job activity where eligible | Whether active monthly sponsorship spend is required and what charges and quotas apply |
Do not infer that access to one program authorizes another. Approval, documentation, and the stated purpose are part of the authorization.
A compliant collection workflow
- Document ownership and purpose. Identify your organization, the data controller, the users affected, and whether the output is transient or stored. Write down why each field is necessary.
- Apply for the appropriate program. Use the Developer Portal and follow the onboarding process for Employer Data, Job Sync, Indeed Apply, Sponsored Jobs, or another documented route. Keep the approved terms and version with your project records.
- Confirm limits and lifecycle rules. Record authentication requirements, request limits, billing, allowed caching, retention periods, deletion triggers, and the procedure for a disabled or discontinued API. Indeed may change limits or discontinue an API or feature.
- Implement the smallest request. Request only approved fields and only at the cadence your agreement allows. Prefer incremental updates, documented filters, and provider-supplied change or removal signals over repeatedly downloading every record.
- Validate identity. Pair a stable internal employer ID with the correct ATS and employer identifiers. Reject or quarantine records when the identifiers, name, location, or relationship do not match.
- Protect and disclose the data. Publish an accurate privacy notice, restrict internal access, encrypt traffic and storage as appropriate, honor data requests, and document sharing with processors or data providers.
- Monitor and delete. Log status codes, rate-limit responses, authorization changes, and removals. Delete records when the approved retention period ends or the source instructs you to remove them.
Calling your approved endpoint
Indeed’s documentation determines the real endpoint, authentication scheme, parameters, and response fields. The examples below show a safe client pattern without inventing an endpoint. Set INDEED_API_URL to the URL supplied for your approved integration and use the credentials and parameter names in that documentation. Do not point these examples at an undocumented web page.
cURL
curl --fail-with-body --silent --show-error
--request GET "$INDEED_API_URL"
--header "Authorization: Bearer $INDEED_ACCESS_TOKEN"
--header "Accept: application/json"
--data-urlencode "updated_since=2026-09-01T00:00:00Z"
Use the provider’s actual filter name and timestamp format. A successful HTTP response is not proof that your use is authorized; authorization comes from the program and its terms.
Python
import os
import requests
url = os.environ["INDEED_API_URL"]
token = os.environ["INDEED_ACCESS_TOKEN"]
params = {"updated_since": "2026-09-01T00:00:00Z"}
response = requests.get(
url,
params=params,
headers={
"Authorization": f"Bearer {token}",
"Accept": "application/json",
},
timeout=30,
)
response.raise_for_status()
payload = response.json()
print(payload)
Node.js
const url = new URL(process.env.INDEED_API_URL);
url.searchParams.set('updated_since', '2026-09-01T00:00:00Z');
const response = await fetch(url, {
headers: {
Authorization: `Bearer ${process.env.INDEED_ACCESS_TOKEN}`,
Accept: 'application/json'
}
});
if (!response.ok) {
throw new Error(`Indeed API request failed: ${response.status}`);
}
const payload = await response.json();
console.log(payload);
In production, add bounded retries for transient 429 and 5xx responses, honor any Retry-After header, use an idempotent upsert keyed by the provider’s stable ID, and send a correlation ID in your logs. Never log access tokens or entire applicant records.
Employer identity and data-quality controls
The Employer Data guidance at docs.indeed.com/legal-terms/company-data calls for unique ATS and employer identifiers and warns against mismatching companies. Build these checks before publishing records:
- Require a stable provider ID; do not use a company name as the primary key.
- Verify that the ATS ID, employer ID, name, and location agree with your internal mapping.
- Detect duplicate jobs and preserve a source ID so updates replace rather than multiply records.
- Track first-seen, last-seen, updated, closed, and deleted states separately.
- Quarantine conflicting records for review instead of guessing which company is correct.
- Refresh stale fields and remove misleading or withdrawn information promptly.
Indeed warns that incorrect or misleading employer information can damage the job-seeker experience and lead to removal from search results. A clean schema and review queue are therefore operational requirements, not optional polish.
Privacy, security, and retention
Your privacy notice should state what is collected, the purpose, how it is used, who receives it, and how people can exercise applicable rights. Apply the lawful basis and safeguards required in the jurisdictions where you operate. Minimize personal data, separate applicant information from public job metadata, encrypt credentials, rotate secrets, and enforce role-based access.
For Indeed Apply integrations, use HTTPS POST URLs as required by the documentation. Verify signatures or other authenticity controls when provided, reject unexpected fields, and prevent replay of application events. Maintain an auditable deletion process for source removals and user requests. Do not retain a “backup” copy after the approved retention period simply because storage is inexpensive.

When direct HTML collection is not an option
If no documented program covers your purpose, stop and reassess rather than disguising a crawler. Ask whether the employer or ATS can provide a licensed feed, whether a transient display can replace permanent storage, or whether the project can use your own first-party data. Do not bypass a login, CAPTCHA, bot check, rate limit, or other security control. Do not issue automated queries designed to substitute for a human search, and do not copy job-seeker or End User content into a permanent database without explicit permission.
Compare the real options before committing
| Option | Authorization | Coverage | Freshness and identity | Operational risk |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Direct HTML collection | Usually not documented for permanent copying; high terms risk | Whatever appears on pages, with no guaranteed schema | Fragile selectors, uncertain removals, weak identity guarantees | Blocking, legal exposure, maintenance, and access termination |
| Authorized Indeed API | Program approval and current documentation | Only the fields and actions exposed by that program | Documented identifiers and update behavior, subject to limits | Quota, billing, deprecation, and approval dependencies |
| Employer or ATS-supplied feed | Contractual or first-party relationship | Usually focused on that employer’s own jobs and status | Clear ownership; quality depends on the supplier | Onboarding and feed-monitoring work, but fewer scraping failures |
Evaluate each choice against authorization, coverage, freshness, identity quality, retention, cost, reliability, and privacy—not merely the number of pages a script can download.
Troubleshooting common failures
401 or 403 responses
Check that the token belongs to the approved program, has not expired, and is sent in the documented header or parameter. Confirm that the requested resource and purpose are enabled for your account. Do not respond by scraping the public page instead.
429 rate-limit responses
Stop sending requests, honor Retry-After when present, reduce concurrency, and ask Indeed for the documented quota or bulk mechanism. Exponential backoff cannot authorize traffic above your limit.
Empty or partial results
Verify required filters, pagination, field permissions, date formats, and whether the record was removed or closed. Log request IDs and compare a small approved sample with the schema documentation.
Jobs attached to the wrong company
Treat this as an identity defect. Reconcile ATS and employer IDs, pause publication of affected records, correct the mapping, and reprocess only according to the permitted retention and update rules.
Timeouts or intermittent 5xx errors
Use bounded timeouts, retry only idempotent requests, add jitter, and cap attempts. Persist a checkpoint so a retry cannot duplicate records. Escalate repeated failures through the program’s support channel.
Your access is disabled
Stop all calls, preserve logs, review the applicable agreement, and contact Indeed through the documented process. Do not create a new account or rotate infrastructure to evade the decision.

If your immediate need is a visual record of an Indeed page for QA, documentation, or an internal workflow—not a substitute for data permission—ScreenshotNeo can capture a URL with one request. It accepts cookie and consent banners like a visitor, removes more than 60 known consent platforms plus newsletter popups and chat widgets before capture, and reports whether a response was clean, blocked, blank, timed out, failed, or served from cache. Bot checks, CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed. Its MCP server provides take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf tools for Claude, Cursor, and other MCP clients.
See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for options such as full-page capture, CSS-selector elements, device presets, custom headers and cookies, waits, blocking rules, PDFs, signed links, asynchronous jobs, and bulk capture. A simple call is:
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://www.indeed.com -o shot.webp
ScreenshotNeo does not grant permission to copy Indeed content or change Indeed’s terms; use it only for an authorized visual-capture purpose. The Free plan includes 1,000 screenshots per month with no card, and paid plans start at $5 for 3,000. Create a free ScreenshotNeo account.
FAQ
Can I build a job board from Indeed listings?
Only if the specific Indeed program and documentation authorize that display, storage, and business purpose. Otherwise, obtain a licensed employer or ATS feed or redesign the product around data you are allowed to use.

How often should an approved integration poll?
There is no universal interval. Use the cadence, quotas, webhooks, or change mechanisms documented for your program, and make your sync idempotent.
Is the Indeed Terms FAQ legal advice?
No. Indeed expressly says its FAQ is not exhaustive or legal advice and does not replace the applicable Terms.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I scrape Indeed jobs with rotating proxies?
Rotating proxies do not provide authorization and may be an attempt to bypass limits or security controls. Use an approved API or partner integration instead.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
What identifiers should an employer-data pipeline store?
Store the stable identifiers supplied by the approved program, including the correct employer and ATS identifiers, and validate their relationship before publishing jobs.
Can ScreenshotNeo extract Indeed job data for me?
No. ScreenshotNeo captures authorized visual snapshots; it does not grant permission to scrape, copy, or permanently store Indeed content.
