In the YouTube mobile app, use Create → Live and choose Schedule for later. Scheduling creates an upcoming event that you can share before the broadcast; it does not start the broadcast for you.
Before you schedule
For YouTube live streaming generally, your channel must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. YouTube offers mobile, webcam, encoder, and console streaming methods; choose one based on where you will stream from and what production setup you need. A webcam is needed for YouTube’s webcam method, but not to schedule an event. Encoder setups can use equipment such as microphones, cameras, and preamps.

Choose a streaming method
- Mobile: Stream from the YouTube app on a phone or tablet.
- Webcam: Stream from a computer with a webcam.
- Encoder: Use streaming software or hardware for setups that need overlays or additional audio and video equipment.
- Console: Stream from a supported console workflow.
The scheduling steps below create the event. The method you choose determines how you send video when it is time to broadcast.

Schedule a live stream on a computer
- Open YouTube Studio.
- Select Create → Go Live to open Live Control Room.
- Open Manage and select Schedule Stream.
- Choose Reuse settings to carry over settings from a previous stream, or choose Create new.
- Enter the stream details, set the schedule, and complete the setup. You can edit settings while scheduling.
Start the scheduled stream with an encoder
Scheduling does not connect your encoder or begin the broadcast. When you are ready to stream, connect the encoder using the stream URL and stream key for the event, start the encoder, and wait for its preview to appear in Live Control Room. Check the preview, then click Go live.

Schedule a live stream from a phone or tablet
- In the YouTube app, tap Create → Live.
- Edit the stream details and choose Schedule for later.
- Select the date, enter the stream details, and complete setup.
- When it is time to start, return to Create → Live, tap the calendar, select the scheduled stream, and tap Go live.
Mobile eligibility
Mobile live streaming has additional requirements: at least 50 subscribers, a verified channel, no live-stream restrictions in the previous 90 days, and live streaming turned on. YouTube says a first mobile live stream may take up to 24 hours to become available after activation. These extra mobile requirements should not be assumed to apply to webcam or encoder streaming.
Share the event so viewers can find it
After scheduling, share the event page URL with your audience, including on social media. The upcoming stream may appear in subscribers’ feeds, where viewers can select Notify me to request a reminder when it is about to begin. Appearance in the feed is not guaranteed for every subscriber.

Encoder preflight: prepare before the scheduled start
- Set up the encoder at least 2 hours before the stream.
- Start the encoder at least 15 minutes before the scheduled event.
- Check the incoming preview in Live Control Room before going live.
- Confirm that the event is accessible from your channel and watch pages, including on mobile devices.
- Monitor audio and video quality. If you use failover, test that the backup takes over.
Troubleshooting scheduling and launch problems
The scheduled event is not visible to viewers
Share the event URL directly. YouTube says the stream may appear as upcoming in subscribers’ feeds, not that it will appear for everyone.

The encoder preview does not appear
Confirm that the encoder is connected with the stream URL and stream key for the scheduled event and that the encoder is running. Wait for the preview in Live Control Room before selecting Go live.

You cannot schedule or start a mobile stream
Check the mobile-specific eligibility requirements: subscriber count, channel verification, recent live-stream restrictions, and whether live streaming has been turned on. If mobile streaming was just activated, availability may take up to 24 hours.
The broadcast has not started at the scheduled time
A scheduled event is not an automatic broadcast. Return to the scheduled stream and start it using the chosen method; for encoder streaming, start the encoder, confirm the preview, then click Go live in Live Control Room.
