For a few events, schedule each one in YouTube Studio; for a larger list, use a custom script that reads the CSV and creates YouTube Live API broadcasts. If by “playlist” you mean one live program that plays prerecorded videos in sequence, that is a different job: the official workflow described here schedules events, not a CSV playlist playback queue.
What “YouTube Live playlists from a CSV” can mean
There are two distinct tasks that are easy to conflate:
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
- Schedule a series of live events: create multiple future broadcasts from rows in a CSV, then optionally organize their recordings or highlights into a YouTube playlist after each event.
- Play a playlist of prerecorded videos as a live program: make one live stream that plays videos sequentially. The official YouTube documentation covered here does not establish a CSV-based scheduler for that playback workflow.
The steps below address scheduling a series of future live events. YouTube’s guidance discusses scheduling streams through Live Control Room and organizing archives or highlights into playlists; it does not describe a playlist as a container for scheduling multiple broadcasts. Choose manual scheduling or a CSV-driven script
| Method | Best fit | What it involves |
|---|---|---|
| YouTube Studio | A small number of events | No code; enter and review each event in Live Control Room. |
| YouTube Live Streaming API | Repeated or larger schedules | Build or use a script that validates CSV rows, authenticates, creates broadcasts and streams, and binds them. |
This is a practical comparison of the documented workflows, not a YouTube-published performance or volume limit. The API documentation describes resource requests, not a Studio CSV-import feature or a ready-made CSV template. YouTube Live Streaming API guide · liveBroadcasts.insert reference

Option 1: schedule each event in YouTube Studio
- Open YouTube Studio, select Create > Go Live, then open Manage.
- Select Schedule Stream. Create a new event or reuse settings from an earlier stream.
- Review the title, scheduled start time, privacy setting, and other event details before saving or publishing the scheduled event.
- Share the event’s watch-page link. Viewers can open the event page and opt in to reminders.
- When ready to broadcast, configure the encoder separately and check its preview in Live Control Room before going live.
Scheduling creates the event; it does not itself transmit the live program. YouTube’s encoder guidance covers sending the feed using a stream URL and stream key. Keep the stream key private. YouTube Help: schedule a live stream · YouTube Help: set up your encoder for live streaming
Option 2: use a CSV as input to the YouTube Live API
A CSV-driven workflow requires code or a third-party scheduler that supports the task. In a custom script, each row is input for API requests; the CSV is not uploaded to Studio as a schedule. The API models a scheduled broadcast and its incoming stream as separate resources. The documented sequence is to create a broadcast, create or select a compatible stream, then bind that stream to the broadcast. YouTube Live Streaming API guide

These are example fields for your own CSV, not a YouTube-mandated template. Include any other metadata your script needs, and document how blank or optional values should be handled.
2. Validate rows before making API calls
Check the entire file before sending write requests. The broadcast insert reference requires a title, scheduled start time, and privacy status. Validate that each timestamp includes an unambiguous time zone, each start time is still in the future, privacy values are allowed by the API, required text is present, and duplicate rows are handled deliberately. Reject or report invalid rows rather than silently creating events with unintended details. liveBroadcasts.insert reference
3. Authenticate for the correct channel
Use OAuth authorization for the channel owner or a manager authorized to act for that channel, with the documented API scope. Do not put OAuth credentials or stream keys in the CSV, source control, logs, or a publicly accessible file. A stream key is the credential an encoder uses to send a feed to YouTube. liveBroadcasts.insert reference · YouTube Help: set up your encoder for live streaming

4. Create and bind the resources
For each valid row, have the script create a broadcast with the row’s event details. Then create or select a compatible live stream and bind it to that broadcast. A broadcast represents the scheduled event; the live stream represents the feed that will be sent to YouTube. Follow the API guide’s create-broadcast, create-stream, and bind sequence. 5. Record results and verify before sharing
Save each successful broadcast ID and watch-page link to an output file associated with the original row. Capture API errors in a way that identifies the affected row without exposing credentials. Review every created event in Live Control Room, correct failures, and only then share the resulting schedule. Retry rules, timezone conversion, duplicate handling, and output-file design are implementation choices for your script; they are not defined by a YouTube CSV template.

Scheduling automation does not replace account eligibility or encoder setup. YouTube says first-time live-streaming activation may take up to 24 hours. Its Help guidance says a channel must be verified and have had no live-stream restrictions in the past 90 days to stream. Check the channel before the event date rather than assuming that a successfully created schedule means the channel can transmit immediately. YouTube Help: get started with live streaming

For the actual broadcast, configure the encoder with YouTube’s stream URL and stream key, then confirm the incoming preview in Live Control Room before starting. Those are transmission steps, not CSV scheduling requirements. YouTube Help: set up your encoder for live streaming
What to do with the recordings and playlists
If your goal is a collection of related event recordings, schedule the broadcasts individually, then organize the resulting archives or highlight clips into a playlist. YouTube’s promotion guidance covers playlist organization for archives and highlights; it does not describe a playlist as a schedule for future live broadcasts. YouTube Help: promote your live stream
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsIf instead you want prerecorded videos to play continuously as a live broadcast, do not assume that importing a CSV of video titles or URLs will make YouTube play them in sequence. The official materials cited here do not document that feature. You need a separate playback-and-encoding workflow or a service designed to loop uploaded video to YouTube Live.
Common CSV scheduling problems and fixes
- The date appears at the wrong local time: include a timezone or convert consistently before sending the API request; do not treat an unqualified local timestamp as universal time.
- An event fails validation: check that title, scheduled start time, and privacy status are present and valid, and that the start time remains in the future.
- The API request is unauthorized: confirm OAuth was granted by the channel owner or authorized manager and that the authorization covers the intended channel and API operation.
- The event exists but has no usable incoming feed: verify that a compatible liveStream was created or selected and bound to the broadcast, then check encoder configuration and preview.
- The broadcast is scheduled but cannot go live: check channel verification, live-stream restrictions, activation readiness, and encoder setup; a scheduled event alone does not guarantee transmission access.
- You intended a continuous prerecorded-video stream: a list of scheduled broadcasts is not a playlist playback queue. Choose a separate playback-and-encoding method or cloud looping service.
Or let it run in the cloud
If the real goal is to keep uploaded videos looping as a YouTube live stream, rather than schedule a list of separate events, StreamNeo is a different workflow: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. The cloud keeps the stream running without leaving a computer on at home. Every slot streams uploads as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot; it can automatically recover if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card, one free day per account. Monthly: $9.99 per month. StreamNeo is for YouTube, not camera-based live capture. Start the free day.
