To schedule a one-time Slack message, compose it in the channel, direct message, or thread where it should appear, then choose a future send time from the menu beside the send button. On desktop, click the arrow next to the paper-plane icon; on mobile, tap and hold the paper-plane icon. You can find and manage scheduled messages later under Drafts & sent or Drafts & Sent, depending on the platform.

Choose the right Slack option for the job
| Option | Best for | How it works |
|---|---|---|
| Scheduled message | One composed message to send once | Schedule from the message composer, then manage it under Scheduled. |
| Workflow Builder scheduled-message template | Recurring channel posts, such as reminders, daily stand-ups, or project updates | Configure a start date and time, frequency, channel, and message, then name and publish the workflow. You can optionally configure workflow managers and permissions. Slack documents this in its scheduled-message workflow guide. |
| Reminder | A simple prompt for a channel at a chosen date and time | Slack recommends a workflow based on the scheduled-message template for more complex channel messages. Personal reminders can be managed through Later; channel reminders cannot be edited, so delete and recreate one if it needs changing. See Slack’s reminder instructions. |
Schedule a recurring Slack message
For a repeating channel post, use Workflow Builder rather than scheduling the same one-time message again. Select the “Send a scheduled message” template, set the start date and time and the frequency, choose the destination channel and message, then finish setup, name the workflow, and publish it. You can also configure managers and permissions during setup. Slack’s guide is titled Send a scheduled message in Slack.
Check time zones if a time looks wrong
Slack’s time-zone guidance says reminders and notification schedules remain in local time after a Slack time-zone change, while message timestamps use the computer’s time zone. If times appear inconsistent, check both your Slack preferences and your device’s time-zone settings. This guidance does not specify every time-zone conversion or delivery edge case for scheduled messages. See Set your time zone in Slack.
