Windows Errors? Fix Them Before They Spread
Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallOutdated Drivers Are Slowing You Down
One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchYou can loop a playlist of videos inside a YouTube live broadcast with OBS, but YouTube’s documented scheduling controls do not provide a setting to restart that broadcast automatically every six hours. To repeat on that cadence, you need to arrange separate scheduled broadcasts or use an external automation workflow; the official documentation cited here does not establish a specific reliable unattended setup.
Two separate jobs: looping videos and restarting the broadcast
A playlist repeating after its final video and a live broadcast restarting every six hours are different things. OBS can loop playlist playback within an active stream. YouTube Live Control Room lets you schedule a stream, but the cited YouTube and OBS documentation does not confirm a native six-hour recurrence control or a particular unattended relaunch method.

So first decide which behavior you need: one continuous broadcast with its video playlist looping, or a new broadcast scheduled to start every six hours. The steps below cover the documented parts of both workflows without treating a media loop as a broadcast restart.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?

Loop a playlist inside an OBS broadcast
- Install VLC. OBS requires VLC for its VLC Video source. OBS documents this source for Windows, macOS, and Linux. If VLC is installed but the source is missing, close and reopen OBS after installation.
- Add the playlist source. In OBS, add a VLC Video source, then add the video files you want played as playlist items.
- Enable playlist looping. In the source’s settings, enable Loop Playlist. OBS describes this as restarting the source when it has run out of media files.
- Connect OBS to YouTube. In YouTube Studio, open Create → Go Live, choose Manage, and select Schedule Stream. Create a stream or reuse settings from a previous stream. Connect OBS with YouTube’s Live server URL and stream key.
- Start the broadcast at its scheduled time. Start streaming from OBS, wait for the preview in Live Control Room, then select Go live when the scheduled stream is due.
The VLC playlist will cycle while OBS and the broadcast remain active. It will not, by itself, end and relaunch the YouTube broadcast at the six-hour mark.

Schedule separate broadcasts every six hours
YouTube documents creating and scheduling encoder-based streams, as well as reusing settings from a prior stream. Reuse copies the prior stream’s metadata, settings, and stream key into a new stream; you can change settings after creating it. That can reduce repeated setup, but it does not create a recurring schedule.
- In YouTube Studio, go to Create → Go Live → Manage → Schedule Stream.
- Create the next stream, or reuse settings from a previous one. Check the title, description, visibility, and other details for this event.
- Set its start time, then repeat the scheduling process for each additional broadcast you want on the six-hour cadence.
- At each start, connect the encoder with the stream URL and key, confirm the preview, and select Go live in Live Control Room.
This documented workflow involves separately arranging and starting broadcasts. The cited official documentation does not establish how to automate every event’s creation and launch unattended, nor does it verify a tool that reliably handles six-hour restarts. If you require unattended recurrence, verify that your chosen automation handles stream creation, encoder launch, YouTube’s go-live step, and recovery after interruptions before depending on it.

Choose between one continuous stream and separate events
| Approach | What repeats | What the documented workflow establishes |
|---|---|---|
| One broadcast with OBS VLC Video | The playlist’s media items | OBS can loop a playlist; this does not establish a broadcast restart. |
| Separate scheduled YouTube broadcasts | The scheduled events | YouTube supports scheduling and reusing settings; the cited documentation does not establish a native six-hour recurring schedule or reliable unattended relaunch. |
A scheduled stream may appear as upcoming in subscriber feeds, and viewers can select Notify me. YouTube recommends communicating a consistent live schedule and any changes, so publish the cadence clearly and update viewers if an event moves.

Archive behavior to account for
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. This is an archive behavior, not a six-hour scheduling feature. Plan each scheduled event with its intended duration in mind.

Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is a continuing YouTube channel rather than a sequence of six-hour broadcast events, StreamNeo is a cloud service for looping uploaded videos on YouTube. Upload your recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; it streams your files as uploaded, at any quality up to 4K 60fps for one flat price per slot, and automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. It keeps uploaded videos live rather than broadcasting from a camera, and it does not provide a six-hour event-restart schedule. Start the free day with StreamNeo.
Troubleshooting
- VLC Video is not available in OBS: Install VLC, then restart OBS so it can detect VLC.
- The final playlist item plays and then playback stops: Open the VLC Video source settings and enable Loop Playlist.
- The playlist repeats, but the live broadcast does not restart: That is expected: playlist looping repeats media inside the active broadcast. Schedule another broadcast separately or validate an external automation workflow.
- YouTube shows no preview: Check that OBS is connected with the correct YouTube Live server URL and stream key, and that the encoder is running. Wait for the preview before selecting Go live.
- A scheduled stream is not appearing as an upcoming event: Recheck the event in YouTube Studio’s Manage area and confirm its schedule and visibility settings.
Copyright and channel-policy checks
Only stream videos you have the rights to broadcast. A playlist that loops successfully in OBS does not establish that its contents are permitted or that a channel qualifies for monetization. Review YouTube’s current copyright and channel policies for the material and use case before scheduling repeated broadcasts.
