To schedule a text on a Samsung phone, first check which messaging app you use. In Samsung Messages, open a conversation, enter your message, choose Schedule message from the composer’s plus/menu controls, set a date and time, then tap Send. In the Android Messages interface covered by Samsung’s separate guidance, you schedule by long-pressing Send. The menus are not interchangeable, and availability depends on your app and device.

Type the message you want to send later.

Tap the plus or menu control beside the message composer. If you do not see a plus icon, tap the arrow control to reveal additional options.

Choose Schedule message.

Select the date and time, then confirm your choice.

Tap Send. In the interface shown in Samsung’s guide, an image appears beside the scheduled message.
Samsung’s New Zealand scheduling guide shows the scheduling flow. Its text-message support instructions also explain that the plus menu may be revealed by tapping an arrow.

Schedule a text in the Android Messages interface
If your installed messaging app uses the Android Messages interface described in Samsung’s Galaxy guide, type your message and long-press Send. Select a date and time, then confirm. This is a different control from Samsung Messages’ plus/menu route; follow the instructions for the app actually open on your phone. Which app should you use?
Samsung’s US support page says Samsung Messages is available on Samsung devices running Android 11 or older. It also says the app will be discontinued on Galaxy devices running Android 12 or newer starting July 6, 2026, and directs users to Google Messages. Because that date has passed, check the app installed on your phone and Samsung’s current guidance rather than assuming Samsung Messages is available on every Galaxy device. Samsung cautions that “Features and functions may vary by device, carrier, and software version.” (Samsung US support)

If “Schedule message” is missing

Check the app name or interface first. Samsung Messages’ menu instructions do not necessarily apply to Google Messages or another messaging app.

In Samsung Messages, look for the plus icon or tap the arrow beside the composer to expose additional controls.

Check your device, carrier, and software context. Samsung says feature availability can vary across them.

If Samsung Messages is not available on your phone, check Samsung’s current recommendation and the scheduling controls in the messaging app you have installed.

Samsung’s published guidance does not provide an exhaustive compatibility list for individual Galaxy models. It also does not establish a universal scheduling limit or explain whether scheduled messages can be edited or canceled, or what happens if the phone is off or disconnected at the scheduled time. Those details should not be assumed to work the same across apps and software versions.
