CameraFi’s published workflow does not confirm that the app can automatically start at the scheduled time and play a prerecorded video without an operator. If unattended prerecorded playback is essential, verify that capability in the current app documentation before relying on it.
What scheduling does—and does not—do
Scheduling creates a YouTube live event for a future time. In CameraFi Live’s documented flow, you select that event in the app and tap to begin broadcasting. That is different from uploading a video and having it air automatically as a live stream at the scheduled time.

CameraFi’s tutorial, published February 4, 2020, describes bringing a scheduled YouTube event into CameraFi Live; it does not document automatic playback of a prerecorded file or unattended launch. CameraFi’s July 11, 2025 overview likewise does not establish that capability. Check the current CameraFi Live documentation or confirm directly in the app before planning an unattended broadcast.

Check channel eligibility first
YouTube says a channel needs to be verified and must have had no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days to live stream. Check the channel’s status and available features in YouTube Studio before setting an event time. Availability can depend on the account and current product interface.

CameraFi materials give conflicting subscriber guidance: its February 2020 tutorial cautions that scheduled live video might not be available below 1,000 subscribers, while its July 2025 overview says Events are available from 50 subscribers and suggests Go Live Now below that. These are dated CameraFi statements, not a single universal current YouTube threshold. Use the options actually shown for your channel in YouTube Studio and CameraFi Live.
Create a scheduled YouTube event

On a computer, open YouTube Studio and choose Create, then Go Live.

Choose the stream setup and enter the event title, description, audience information, and an optional thumbnail.

Enable Schedule for later, set the intended time, and create the stream/event. Confirm the date and time shown in Studio so the event is not accidentally scheduled for the wrong time zone or day.

Select the event in CameraFi Live and start it

Open CameraFi Live and choose READY.

Choose Events. Use the paper-and-clock icon to locate the scheduled video, select the intended event, then tap Done.

When ready to broadcast, tap GO in CameraFi Live. The documented process requires this operator action; selecting the scheduled event alone does not establish that the broadcast will start automatically at its scheduled time.

These labels come from CameraFi’s February 2020 tutorial and may differ in a newer app version. If a label has moved, follow the current app interface and documentation rather than assuming a similarly named control has the same behavior.

YouTube Help describes a separate control-room route: open Live Control Room, go to Manage, select the scheduled stream, and launch it there. This is YouTube’s workflow for managing a scheduled stream; it is not evidence that CameraFi will automatically play a prerecorded file. For the CameraFi route, create the event in Studio first, then select it in the app as described above.

If you need prerecorded video to air unattended
The available CameraFi instructions establish event scheduling and manual selection/start, but do not verify unattended prerecorded playback. Do not assume the scheduled event will play a video file by itself. Check the current CameraFi documentation for explicit support for uploading or selecting prerecorded media and automatic start at a scheduled time; if that is not confirmed, choose a workflow that explicitly provides those functions.
