Create the event in Live Control Room, send your prepared video and audio through an encoder using YouTube’s stream URL and key, then start the event after checking its preview. For continuous broadcasting, the encoder, source feed, network connection, and monitoring must also stay operational.
Before scheduling: check eligibility and prepare the stream
YouTube’s current general guidance says a channel must be verified, have no livestreaming restrictions within the past 90 days, and be operated by someone at least 16 years old. Review YouTube’s livestreaming requirements before setting an event time.

Prepare the meditation video and audio you intend to broadcast, along with a software or hardware encoder. A static visual with licensed audio may not need a professional hardware setup; choose based on production needs, continuous-operation requirements, and who will monitor the stream. YouTube supports encoder workflows and describes professional-grade hardware encoders as suitable for higher-production events, but does not endorse a specific encoder for this use.
Check sustained upload bandwidth and leave headroom rather than planning around a connection’s peak speed. Test the complete setup, including the watch page and playback on mobile. A backup encoder can be part of a reliability plan, but test it; having one does not guarantee seamless failover.

Schedule the event in YouTube Studio
- Open Live Control Room. In YouTube Studio, select Create > Go Live.
- Start a scheduled event. Open Manage, then select Schedule stream. You can create a new stream or reuse prior settings.
- Set the event details. Enter the title, description, visibility, and schedule. If you reuse settings, review the metadata and stream key so the new event uses the right configuration.
- Share the watch page. Scheduled streams may appear as upcoming in subscriber feeds, and viewers can select Notify me. Share the event page with your audience before it begins.
- Plan setup time. YouTube recommends setting up at least two hours ahead and starting the encoder at least 15 minutes before the event.
These steps create an upcoming broadcast and a page viewers can find. They do not start a feed or make it run indefinitely.
Connect the encoder and go live
- Configure the encoder. Copy YouTube’s Live server URL and stream key from the event’s encoder settings into your encoder. The stream key works like a password for the stream: keep it private, and reset it if you think it has been exposed.
- Send the prepared feed. Start the encoder so it sends the video and audio to YouTube. YouTube’s encoder guidance for RTMP/RTMPS specifies H.264, constant bitrate (CBR), and a recommended two-second keyframe frequency. Follow the settings supported by your encoder and the current YouTube encoder guidance; HLS is supported for some cases, but has higher latency than RTMP because it sends segments rather than a continuous stream.
- Check the preview. In Live Control Room, wait for the incoming preview and verify the picture, sound, and stream health before starting the event.
- Start and monitor. Select Go live in Live Control Room at the scheduled time. Monitor stream health and audio/video quality throughout the broadcast.
- End deliberately. To finish an event, select End Stream and stop sending from the encoder.
What 24/7 means for scheduling and archives
Scheduling is not a native automatic, indefinite broadcast mode: the event still needs an encoder to send a feed, and YouTube’s scheduling instructions describe starting that feed and the event. For a 24/7 service, arrange for the encoder and source feed to keep operating and have a person or process monitor them.

YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That statement does not promise one automatically archived file for a continuous event longer than 12 hours, and YouTube’s guidance does not establish a complete archive strategy or guarantee uninterrupted uptime for a 24/7 broadcast. Treat keeping the stream live and preserving recordings as separate operational needs.

Before going live, verify that you have the necessary rights to use every visual, recording, voice track, and sound in a livestream, including relevant music rights from artists, labels, publishers, and other royalty participants. “Meditation” or “royalty-free” alone does not establish that a particular use is cleared; check the licence terms for the recording and the territories where you plan to broadcast. YouTube also requires compliance with its Terms of Service and applicable policies and laws.

Troubleshooting a scheduled meditation stream
- The event is scheduled, but no preview appears: Confirm that the encoder is running, that it has the correct Live server URL and stream key, and that the channel is eligible to livestream. Allow time for the feed to connect.
- The preview appears, but viewers cannot hear or see the intended feed: Check the encoder’s selected video and audio sources, then verify the preview before choosing Go live.
- The feed drops or becomes unstable: Check sustained upload bandwidth and stream health, reduce avoidable network load, and test the encoder and connection before relying on them for continuous operation. A backup encoder should be tested in advance.
- The event does not appear as expected: Check its visibility and schedule in Manage, and share the scheduled watch page with viewers. Scheduling gives viewers an upcoming event and reminder option; it does not send the live feed.
- The stream key may be compromised: Reset it in YouTube’s live settings and update the encoder with the replacement key.
