On a computer, open the court webpage in Google Chrome, press Ctrl+P on Windows or Linux or Command+P on Mac, select Save as PDF as the destination, review the preview, and save. Then reopen the PDF to check that the relevant details are present and readable. A browser-made PDF records a rendered webpage; it is not automatically a certified court copy or proof that the information is legally sufficient.
Save the court webpage as a PDF in Chrome
- Open the exact court website page and wait for the relevant case details to load.
- Open Chrome’s print dialog using File > Print, Ctrl+P on Windows or Linux, or Command+P on Mac. Google documents the print flow and shortcuts in Chrome Help.
- In the print dialog, choose Save as PDF if it is available as a destination. Review the preview and page range before saving.
- Use a descriptive filename that identifies the case or page and capture date. Keep a separate note of the exact source URL and the date and time you saved it.
- Open the saved PDF and inspect it for clipped text, missing case details, unreadable small print, or blank pages. If the preview omitted relevant content, adjust the print settings or use the court’s own document download when available.
Check for the court’s PDF when you need an order or judgment
A print-to-PDF file and a court-provided order PDF preserve different things. The browser printout captures the page as rendered on your screen; the court’s own PDF is the document served by the court. If you need an order or judgment itself, look for that document on the official court service rather than relying only on a printed case-status page.

The Supreme Court of India e-Committee describes the eCourts portal as providing case-related information and daily orders and final judgments searchable by CNR, case number, court number, party name, or order date. The official High Court services portal says to open an order on an exhibit or a copy of a judgment to view orders or judgments in PDF format. Preserve the court-provided file when that is the record you need; you can also save the related webpage separately if documenting what the portal displayed matters.
What a saved webpage PDF does—and does not—establish
A PDF created by printing a webpage is not automatically a certified court copy, and saving it does not by itself establish that it is admissible or sufficient for a formal filing. The eCourts portal advises visitors to cross-check information with the authorities concerned and states: “The information made available here is not meant for legal evidence.” See the eCourts portal notice.

The Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, 2023 addresses electronic records. Sections 61 and 62 make their treatment subject to Section 63, which sets conditions for computer outputs and describes a certificate provision when an electronic record is offered in evidence. Section 63 came into force on 1 July 2024. This is a general statutory pointer, not a determination about whether a particular PDF satisfies the law or a court’s rules. For a formal filing, check the applicable court procedure and ask a lawyer or court office whether a certified copy or certificate is required.
Preserve the file so its origin is clear
- Keep a note with the exact page URL and the date and time of capture.
- Give the file a descriptive name so it can be identified later.
- Keep the captured PDF unchanged if it is meant to document what the webpage displayed. If you need highlighting or annotations, make a separate annotated copy.
- Reopen the saved file and check its contents; a successful save alone does not show that every relevant part printed correctly.
These steps improve traceability and readability. They do not certify the page, its contents, or the PDF.
