To save the webpage you have open, use your browser’s Print command and choose its PDF or Save to PDF destination. If you mean the official Aadhaar document rather than a copy of the portal page, download e-Aadhaar through UIDAI’s MyAadhaar portal or mAadhaar app instead. They are different files for different purposes.
Choose which PDF you need
- A PDF of the portal webpage: This preserves the page as it appears in your browser. Use the browser’s print-to-PDF function.
- Your official e-Aadhaar: This is UIDAI’s digitally signed, password-protected electronic Aadhaar document. Download it through MyAadhaar or the mAadhaar app; printing the portal page does not download or create e-Aadhaar.
UIDAI says e-Aadhaar is equally valid as a physical Aadhaar copy for all purposes. That statement applies to the official e-Aadhaar document, not to a PDF printout of a webpage.

Save the open webpage as a PDF
- Open the Aadhaar portal page you want to keep in a browser. If the page has important information below the visible area, scroll through it first so any content that loads as you scroll has a chance to appear.
- Open the browser’s Print command. Depending on the browser and device, it may be in the browser menu or available through a keyboard shortcut.
- In the print dialog, choose the PDF destination, such as Save to PDF, rather than a physical printer.
- Review the preview. Check that the page content is present and readable, then save the file to a location you can find again.
Exact menu labels and steps vary by browser and operating system, so look for the print dialog’s PDF destination rather than relying on a particular menu sequence. A saved webpage PDF is a snapshot; it does not preserve interactive functions or guarantee that a page will look exactly like the live portal.
Download e-Aadhaar instead of printing the portal page
UIDAI identifies MyAadhaar and the mAadhaar app as ways to obtain e-Aadhaar. Its FAQ says a download can be requested using an Aadhaar number, enrolment number, or VID, with an OTP sent to the registered mobile number. Follow the current prompts on the official service; a legacy UIDAI page describes an older field sequence, and that sequence should not be assumed to be the current universal workflow.

Choose whether to download masked Aadhaar
Masked Aadhaar hides all but the last four digits of the Aadhaar number. UIDAI’s MyAadhaar service listing describes the masked download as free and requiring mobile OTP. Consider whether the recipient needs the full number before choosing which version to share.
Open the downloaded file
UIDAI describes e-Aadhaar as password-protected and digitally signed. Its FAQ says Adobe Reader is needed to view the digitally verified PDF. This is guidance for the official e-Aadhaar file, not a requirement for an ordinary webpage PDF.

Troubleshooting
- The PDF contains only part of the page: Check the print preview, scroll the page to load content below the fold, and reopen Print. Some dynamic or interactive content may not be represented fully in a printout.
- You see a printer selection but no PDF option: Look for a PDF destination in the print dialog. Its name and availability depend on the browser and operating system.
- The file asks for a password: If you downloaded official e-Aadhaar, this is expected; it is password-protected. A webpage printout is a separate file and should not be confused with e-Aadhaar.
- The official e-Aadhaar will not verify or open correctly: UIDAI’s FAQ recommends Adobe Reader for viewing its digitally verified PDF. Use UIDAI’s current service guidance if the download or OTP process itself fails.
