Save an entire Safari webpage as an image
Apple’s current iPhone guide supports a full-page screenshot that extends beyond the screen edge. The documented example is an entire webpage in Safari. The image-saving path is:

- Open the webpage in Safari.
- Take a screenshot using your iPhone’s button combination.
- Tap the screenshot preview and select Full Page.
- Inspect, crop or annotate the captured page if needed.
- Open the save options and choose Save to Photos.

Step-by-step instructions
1. Open the page in Safari
Launch Safari and load the webpage you want to preserve. Scroll or wait until the page has reached the state you want to capture before taking the screenshot. Apple’s full-page example is a Safari webpage, so use Safari for the documented workflow.
2. Take the screenshot
Use the button combination that matches your iPhone:
- iPhone with Face ID: press and quickly release the Side button and Volume Up button together.
- iPhone with a Home button: press and quickly release the Side button and Home button together.
A thumbnail appears temporarily, normally near the lower-left corner. Tap that thumbnail before it disappears to open the screenshot editor. Apple says screenshots with thumbnails are saved automatically to Photos; opening the preview is what exposes the additional full-page controls.
3. Switch from Screen to Full Page
In the screenshot editor, choose Full Page rather than the default screen view. Safari can then include content that continues below the visible display. If you stay on Screen, you will save only the currently visible viewport.
4. Review the captured length
The full-page preview provides a long page view. Drag through it to check that the beginning, middle and end contain what you expect. This is also the point to look for an incomplete load, an unwanted section or a page that ends earlier than expected.

Use the editor’s crop and markup tools when you need to remove an edge or add an annotation. Cropping is useful when a page includes a footer or other material you do not want in the final picture; markup is useful for arrows, highlights or notes.
5. Save the result to Photos
Open the save options and select Save to Photos. This is the choice that produces the image outcome asked for in this guide. Open the Photos app afterward and check the most recent item.
Do not choose Save PDF to Files if your destination must be Photos and your output must be an image. That command creates a PDF in the Files app instead.

Apple documents the separate Safari PDF route in Annotate and save a webpage as a PDF in Safari on iPhone. It is an alternative document workflow, not the image-saving route above.
What to check before saving
- Correct app: the documented full-page webpage example is Safari, not a generic screenshot of any app.
- Correct tab: make sure the screenshot preview belongs to the page you intended to capture.
- Correct mode: verify that Full Page is selected instead of Screen.
- Correct destination: select Save to Photos for an image, or Save PDF to Files for a PDF.
- Page state: if the page has not finished loading, review the long preview before saving so you do not keep a partial result.
Troubleshooting
“Full Page” does not appear
First confirm that you took the screenshot while the webpage was open in Safari and that you tapped the thumbnail to open the editor. The Full Page control is presented in that preview, not on the initial Safari page. If the label is still absent, the page or app may not expose a full-page capture in your current iOS interface; Apple’s guide specifically documents an entire Safari webpage as the supported example.

The screenshot captured only what was visible
That happens when Screen remains selected. Retake the screenshot, open the preview immediately, choose Full Page, and inspect the extended preview before saving.
The thumbnail disappeared
Take another screenshot and tap the new thumbnail as soon as it appears. A normal screenshot may already be in Photos, but it will not contain the full-page extension unless you enter the preview and select Full Page.
I saved a PDF by mistake
Use the screenshot again and select Save to Photos in the save options. Save PDF to Files is intentionally a different output. If you need to annotate a document rather than create an image, the Safari Share → Markup → Save File To workflow is the appropriate PDF path.
The long preview looks incomplete
Return to Safari, let the page finish loading, then capture it again. Review the top, middle and bottom of the full-page preview before committing the file. The built-in workflow does not provide a separate progress report for every webpage, so visual inspection is important.
I cannot find the saved image in Photos
Check that you selected Save to Photos, rather than a Files or sharing action, then look at the newest items in Photos. If you only pressed the screenshot buttons and never opened the preview, you likely saved a regular screen screenshot instead of a full-page image.
