For either format, capture the account identity, post URL, date and time, and relevant replies or comments—not just an isolated crop. Then open the saved file and confirm it contains the information you meant to preserve.
Choose a screenshot, a PDF, or both

The formats can complement one another. If the post may matter later, keeping both is a reasonable option when one format leaves out useful information.

Capture a full-page screenshot in Firefox
Firefox’s built-in screenshot tool can save a selected region, a page part, the visible viewport, or the full page. For the ordinary browser route:
- Open the post in Firefox and expand any relevant text, comments, or replies.
- Right-click an empty area of the webpage and select Take Screenshot. On Windows or Linux, you can also press Ctrl+Shift+S; on macOS, press Command+Shift+S.
- Choose Save full page to capture beyond the visible window, or Save visible for only the current view.
- Download the image or copy it, then inspect the saved result. Mozilla says a downloaded filename includes the date, time, and page title.
Firefox Developer Tools offer a more advanced route: enable Take a screenshot of the entire page under Settings → Available Toolbox Buttons. The web-console :screenshot helper also has a --fullpage option for content outside the current window. Most people documenting a post can start with the built-in screenshot interface.

Save the webpage as a PDF
On desktop, use the browser’s print dialog and select a PDF destination. Exact labels can vary by browser.
- Windows: Press Ctrl+P, then select Microsoft Print to PDF or Save as PDF in the printer menu and save the file.
- macOS: Press Command+P, then choose Save as PDF from the PDF menu and save the file.
If the print dialog offers Headers and Footers, enable it when useful; these can put the webpage link and date on the PDF. After saving, open the PDF and inspect every page. If the post, replies, or account details are missing, capture additional screenshots or pages rather than assuming the PDF contains the whole website.

Include enough context to identify the post
A useful record should make it possible to understand what was captured and where it appeared. Before saving, check for:

- The complete post or message, including relevant attached or expanded text.
- The post date and time when visible.
- Relevant comments, replies, or surrounding page context.
- The webpage URL and the date and time you made the capture.
Expand collapsed content that matters, and capture the entire relevant page or several consecutive views if one image cannot include it all. Keep a backup copy in a safe place if appropriate; external storage such as a USB flash drive is one option.

Mobile capture varies by browser and version
Guidance reviewed for this article identifies iOS Safari Markup as a way to save an entire loaded page as a PDF and notes a save-to-PDF option in Firefox for Android. Those references do not establish a complete, version-specific walkthrough, and mobile menus can change. Check the controls available in your current browser and inspect the resulting file just as you would on desktop.
What a screenshot or PDF can—and cannot—establish
A capture preserves what appeared during that capture; by itself, it does not prove who authored a post or guarantee that a court will accept it. Tech Safety Canada cautions that screenshots may not always be sufficient and that court evidence may need authentication. If the record could be important, preserve supporting information where available, such as platform account data, and seek advice appropriate to your jurisdiction. If you are saving material because of abuse or monitoring, consider whether someone with access to your device, account, or cloud storage could see the saved file or notice the collection. Think through device and storage safety before capturing it.
