Open the webpage’s print dialog, choose a PDF destination, and check the preview before saving. If the page’s background artwork or colors are missing, enable the browser’s print-background option where available. These steps can help, but no background setting guarantees that every inline, delayed, or dynamically loaded image will appear. Inspect the saved PDF, too.
Save a webpage as a PDF on a computer
Google Chrome
- Open the webpage you want to save.
- Choose File > Print, or press Ctrl+P on Windows or Linux, or ⌘+P on Mac.
- Select the PDF destination, usually Save as PDF, and adjust the available settings.
- Check the preview for missing images or backgrounds, save the PDF, then open the saved file and inspect it.
Mozilla Firefox
- Open the print dialog and choose Save to PDF in the destination drop-down.
- Expand More settings to adjust paper size, scale, margins, headers and footers, or Print backgrounds.
- If you need backgrounds, use the original page format: Firefox does not make the print-background setting available in Simplified format.
- Review the preview, save the PDF, and check the saved file.
Microsoft Edge
- Open the page’s print dialog and expand More settings.
- Turn on Background graphics if the page’s background artwork or colors matter.
- Review the preview, save the PDF, and open it to check the result.
Background controls apply to page backgrounds; they are not a promise that every ordinary image or interactive page element will print.

Save a webpage as a PDF on a phone
Chrome on Android
- Open the webpage in Chrome and tap More > Share > Print.
- At the top of the print preview, choose Save as PDF.
- Choose where to save the file and tap save.
Safari on iPhone
Apple’s instructions for iPhone describe this route: open the webpage in Safari, tap the page menu and Share, then tap Markup. Tap Done and choose Save File To. Labels and availability may differ on other Apple devices or iOS releases.

What to do if images are missing
- A background or page color is missing: Enable Background graphics in Edge or Print backgrounds in Firefox. In Firefox, switch away from Simplified format if you need that control.
- An ordinary image is missing: Check the print preview and then the saved PDF. A webpage’s print layout may omit or rearrange content that appears on screen; a background setting does not force every image into the PDF.
- An image appears only after scrolling or waiting: The page may load content dynamically. The browser print controls do not promise to capture every delayed element. If the image is essential, verify that it is present in the final PDF.
- You only need one image: Chrome documents right-clicking the image and choosing Save image as. That downloads the image itself, not the complete webpage as a PDF.
There is no universal repair established for a particular site that omits an image during printing. The result depends on the page and browser, so check the actual output rather than assuming a setting will fix it.
