Save a web page as a PDF on a computer
For desktop browsers, the print preview is usually the place to create a local PDF. Check the preview before saving: page size, margins, scaling, orientation, backgrounds, and page ranges can change what appears in the file.

Google Chrome
- Open the page you want to save.
- Choose File > Print, or press Ctrl+P on Windows or Linux, or Command+P on Mac.
- In the print window, select Save as PDF as the destination and adjust any print settings you need.
- Choose the file name and location, then save. Google’s Chrome Help documents this desktop print workflow.
Saving locally as a PDF is distinct from choosing Google Drive as a print destination; the Drive route depends on the relevant Google Drive setup.

Mozilla Firefox
- Open the page and open Firefox’s print preview.
- In the destination drop-down menu, choose Save to PDF.
- Review the preview and settings, then save the file.
Mozilla’s Firefox printing help describes saving the displayed preview as a PDF. An add-on for editing page content before printing is optional and not required for this basic process.

Microsoft Edge
- Open the page’s print controls using Settings and more > Print, press Ctrl+P on Windows or Command+P on Mac, or right-click the page and choose Print.
- Inspect the destination or printer selector in the print dialog for a PDF option. The available destination and its wording depend on the print dialog and system setup.
- Check the layout, then save or print to the selected PDF destination if one is available.
Edge’s print help covers orientation, paper size, margins, scale, background graphics, page ranges, and system print-dialog options. For a less cluttered result on supported sites, Microsoft suggests Immersive Reader as a printing workaround.
Save a web page as a PDF on a phone
Chrome on Android
- Open the page in Chrome.
- Tap More > Share > Print.
- Expand the print options if needed and choose Save as PDF.
- Select a save location and save the file.
This is the route documented in Google Chrome Help for Android. The print dialog may require expanding its options before the PDF choice appears.

Safari on iPhone
- In Safari, tap More, then Share. Depending on the tab layout, the Share control may already be visible.
- Tap Markup. You can annotate the page before saving if needed.
- Tap More, then Done.
- Choose Save File To, name the PDF, and tap Save.
Apple’s iPhone Safari instructions describe this Markup-based save flow.
What to do if you cannot find a PDF option
- Open the print destination or printer selector and check its available options; the choices can depend on your operating system and installed print services.
- Review the print preview before saving. If the page is cut off or too small, adjust settings such as margins, scale, orientation, or paper size where available.
- If you need a cleaner article-style page, check whether your browser offers a reading view. Microsoft documents Immersive Reader for supported Edge pages as a clutter-reduction workaround.
There is no single recovery sequence that applies to every browser and device. If the PDF destination is absent, the operating system’s print dialog or available print services may determine which options are shown.

What a saved PDF does—and does not—preserve
A PDF is useful as an offline snapshot of a page’s printable layout, but browser help for these workflows does not guarantee that dynamic elements, gated content, or live links will behave exactly as they do on the original site. Inspect the saved file if layout or content matters. On a Mac, Safari’s documented File > Save As options include Web Archive and Page Source; neither should be confused with a PDF export.
