Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →To save a speed-test image in Pictures, capture it with Snipping Tool, then choose Save or Save As and select the Pictures folder. A capture is not always a saved file: if you used Windows+PrtScn, look in Pictures > Screenshots; if you used another shortcut or a browser tool, follow that tool’s save steps.
Save the speed-test result with Snipping Tool
This is the most direct method when you want to choose the exact folder and filename. Microsoft’s instructions cover Windows 10 and Windows 11: Snipping Tool offers capture modes for a region, window, or full screen, and the captured snip appears in the app, where you can save it. Microsoft’s Snipping Tool guide explains the capture and save controls.

- Open the speed-test result you want to keep.
- Open Snipping Tool and choose a capture mode that includes the result. Capture the speed-test area or the full screen, as needed.
- When the snip appears in Snipping Tool, select Save or Save As.
- In the save dialog, choose Pictures, enter a filename, and save the image.
To change whether Snipping Tool saves captures automatically or which Screenshots folder it uses by default, open Snipping Tool’s Settings. For a one-off image that must go in a particular folder, using Save or Save As and selecting Pictures is the clearest option.

Check where Windows+PrtScn saves the screenshot
If you captured the result with Windows logo key + PrtScn, open File Explorer and check Pictures > Screenshots. Microsoft documents that location for screenshots taken with this shortcut in Windows 10 and Windows 11. Microsoft’s Print Screen shortcut guide also lists Fn + Windows logo key + Space bar as an alternative on devices without a PrtScn key.

- Memory: 32GB DDR4 Ram
- Storage: 1TB Solid State Drive (SSD) Fast Boot + Storage

If the Screenshots folder is empty, the shortcut may not be the one you used, or the expected folder may have been moved or redirected. Check the actual Pictures location in File Explorer rather than assuming it is unchanged.
If you used PrtScn or Windows+Shift+S
Some capture actions put an image on the clipboard or open it in a capture app without creating a file in Pictures. First check whether the image is visible in Snipping Tool or another app. If it is only available to paste, paste it into an image editor, then use that editor’s save control to save a file in Pictures. The exact result depends on the shortcut and Windows version, so do not treat a successful capture as proof that a file was saved.

If you took the screenshot in a browser
Use the browser’s own save control. In Microsoft Edge, the screenshot overlay offers an option to copy the image or save it to files. Microsoft notes that this feature’s availability can vary by device, market, and browser version. See Microsoft Edge’s screenshot feature information.

When the screenshot still seems missing
- Identify how you captured it: Windows+PrtScn, PrtScn, Windows+Shift+S or Snipping Tool, or a browser feature.
- Check the capture app and, for Windows+PrtScn, inspect Pictures > Screenshots.
- For Snipping Tool, open the snip and save it explicitly to Pictures; review the app’s Settings if automatic saving or its default folder is relevant.
- If the expected folder is empty, check whether Pictures or Screenshots has been moved or redirected. A Microsoft community post describes a moved or disconnected destination as one possible cause, but it does not establish that this is what happened on your PC. See the Microsoft Q&A discussion.
A Microsoft community discussion also raises questions about where Snipping Tool saves images, but community reports cannot determine the cause on an individual computer. See the community discussion. Avoid registry edits as an initial fix; the official shortcut instructions direct users to the Screenshots folder and do not prescribe registry changes.
