One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchYes, you can run Sentry alongside Coolify, but not by importing Sentry’s official Compose file into a Coolify application. The practical route is to install Sentry’s self-hosted stack on the server with Sentry’s install.sh, then use Coolify as the public reverse proxy for Sentry’s web container on port 9000. Plan for at least 4 CPU cores, 16 GB RAM, 16 GB swap and 20 GB of free disk; a reported idle test used about 12 GB RAM and 6.5 GB swap, so a 16 GB machine leaves little headroom.

What the Coolify deployment actually looks like
Coolify is not running Sentry as a single application container. Sentry’s self-hosted distribution is a multi-service Docker stack containing the web application, workers, scheduled jobs, a database, Redis, Kafka-related services and supporting components. Coolify’s role is the edge layer: it terminates HTTPS for your domain and forwards requests to Sentry’s web service.

Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →The resulting arrangement is:
- Sentry’s official
getsentry/self-hostedrepository andinstall.shcreate and configure the stack on the server. - Docker Compose starts the Sentry services, including the web service listening on port 9000 by default.
- Coolify publishes a domain, obtains or manages the TLS certificate and proxies that domain to port 9000.
- Background processing and data services remain internal to the Sentry Compose project rather than being individually exposed through Coolify.
This separation matters. Coolify’s application parser is designed for ordinary Compose applications, while Sentry’s file is unusually large and uses YAML anchors. A third-party report describes the file as 839 lines defining 64 services and says Coolify rejected it during parsing. Coolify’s catalog also reportedly had 339 service templates without a Sentry template. Those are single-source observations, not guarantees about every future Coolify release, but they explain why a direct “paste the Compose file” deployment is unreliable.
Check capacity before installing
Sentry’s current self-hosted documentation lists a minimum of 4 CPU cores, 16 GB of RAM, 16 GB of swap and 20 GB of free disk space. The figures are published in the official documentation at https://develop.sentry.dev/self-hosted. Because the documentation and Sentry releases change, confirm the requirements for the release you intend to install immediately before deployment.

| Resource | Published minimum | What the reported Coolify test indicates |
|---|---|---|
| CPU | 4 cores | The test used 4 vCPUs; this is a floor, not a performance target. |
| Memory | 16 GB RAM | About 12 GB RAM at idle with the complete stack running. |
| Swap | 16 GB | About 6.5 GB swap used at idle in the reported test. |
| Disk | 20 GB free | Minimum only; event retention, symbols, attachments and database growth require additional capacity. |
| Containers | Not specified by Sentry’s minimum | 65 containers were running in the reported test. |
The idle measurements came from one third-party test using Sentry release 26.7.2, Coolify 4.1.2, Ubuntu 24.04 and a 4-vCPU/16-GB server. They are useful for planning but are not an Sentry benchmark. A 16 GB host may boot successfully while remaining vulnerable to out-of-memory kills during migrations, spikes or maintenance. The same report suggests 32 GB RAM for a more comfortable setup; treat that as a recommendation rather than an official requirement.
Choose a suitable operating system
Use a Debian- or Ubuntu-based distribution when possible. Search-result summaries for the official guidance note installation issues on RHEL-family systems such as CentOS, Rocky and Alma. If your Coolify host uses one of those distributions, validate the complete Sentry installation on a disposable server before placing production data on it.

Verify Docker and Compose versions
The official documentation is reported as asking for Docker 19.03.6 and Docker Compose 2.32.2. Older tutorials that specify Compose 1.28 describe a previous generation of the stack and should not be used as the compatibility baseline. Check the current Sentry documentation and your installed versions before running the installer; do not downgrade a working Coolify host solely to match an old guide.
Why importing Sentry’s Compose file into Coolify fails
Coolify can deploy many Compose projects, so the failure is not caused by Compose itself. Sentry’s self-hosted file has an unusually broad service graph and relies on YAML anchors. The reported Coolify-specific failure is a parser rejection, not evidence that Sentry’s file is invalid for Docker Compose.
There are three practical consequences:
- Do not remove services just to make the file fit Coolify. Dependencies are part of Sentry’s supported architecture, and an incomplete stack can fail later during migrations or event processing.
- Do not expose every service through a Coolify domain. Only the web endpoint needs public HTTP access; databases, queues and internal workers should stay on the private Docker network.
- Do not assume a future Coolify release has the same parser limitation. Re-test the native route after upgrades, but use the host-side installer when you need a dependable deployment today.
Prepare the server and Coolify
- Back up the host. Sentry’s installer creates persistent databases and service volumes. Confirm that your server snapshots or volume backups can be restored before collecting production events.
- Reserve resources. Keep the official 4-core/16-GB-RAM/16-GB-swap/20-GB-disk minimum available to Sentry in addition to Coolify, its proxy and any other applications on the host. On a 16 GB machine, avoid scheduling unrelated memory-heavy workloads.
- Confirm administrative access. You need shell access with permission to clone the Sentry repository, run the installer and execute Docker Compose commands on the host.
- Check firewall policy. The public domain needs HTTP/HTTPS reachability for the Coolify proxy. Sentry’s internal ports should not be opened to the internet.
- Choose the final hostname first. Use a real DNS name, such as a dedicated subdomain, and point its DNS record at the server before requesting the certificate in Coolify.
Coolify must continue managing its own proxy normally. The Sentry web port is consumed by the Sentry stack on the host; Coolify forwards external requests to it rather than trying to recreate the stack as a Coolify-managed application.

Install Sentry on the host
Sentry’s official self-hosted process is release-based. Always use the latest supported release tag identified by the current Sentry instructions instead of blindly following a command copied from an older tutorial.
- Clone the repository. From the server shell, clone the
getsentry/self-hostedrepository into a directory reserved for Sentry. - Check out the current release tag. The official instructions include a command that resolves the latest release tag from GitHub. Use that command from the current documentation; the correct tag changes over time.
- Run the installer. Change into the repository directory and execute:
./install.sh
The installer pulls the required images, creates the database schema, writes configuration files and prompts you to create an administrator account. Allow roughly 5–10 minutes on a reasonably provisioned host, with longer times possible when images must be downloaded over a slow connection.
- Read every installer error. Do not proceed to the proxy step if an image pull, migration or configuration action failed. An apparently running web container does not prove that workers and storage services initialized correctly.
- Start the stack. From the same repository directory, run:
docker compose up -d
If your installed Compose version supports the wait option and the Sentry release instructions recommend it, you can use:
docker compose up -d --wait
The exact service health checks vary by release. Treat a successful command as “containers were requested,” then inspect container status and logs before publishing the site.
Configure the public URL and reverse proxy
Add the domain to Sentry’s trusted origins
When Sentry is placed behind a reverse proxy, its security checks must recognize the public hostname. A reported Coolify setup required adding the public domain to the CSRF trusted origins in sentry.conf.py; without that adjustment, login requests can fail even though the page loads. The report does not establish that every proxy arrangement requires the same edit, so apply the setting using the syntax and configuration guidance for your installed Sentry release.

Make this change before troubleshooting browser login. Include the scheme and hostname format expected by the current Sentry configuration, and avoid adding broad wildcard origins unless Sentry’s documentation explicitly calls for them. Restart the affected service after changing configuration so the running web container reads the new value.
Create the Coolify proxy entry
Coolify’s exact screen labels can differ between versions, but the required values are stable:
- Destination: the server-local Sentry web service or host address reachable from Coolify.
- Port:
9000, Sentry’s default web port. - Domain: the real hostname you prepared in DNS.
- HTTPS: enabled, with Coolify issuing or managing the certificate for the domain.
Create a proxied service in Coolify rather than a second Compose deployment. Do not point the proxy at a worker, relay, PostgreSQL, Redis or Kafka-related container. If Coolify asks for a target URL, use the Sentry web endpoint that is reachable from the proxy on the same host; keep the target private and expose only the Coolify domain.
Validate the first request
- Resolve the hostname from an external network and confirm it points to the Coolify server.
- Open the HTTPS URL and verify that Sentry’s login page appears.
- Sign in with the administrator account created by
install.sh. - If the page loads but login returns a CSRF or origin error, re-check the trusted-origin configuration and restart the web service.
- If the proxy returns a gateway error, confirm that the Sentry web container is running and that port 9000 is reachable from the Coolify proxy.
Check health after the stack starts
Use Docker Compose from the Sentry repository directory for operational checks. The following command lists the project’s containers and their status:

Look for repeatedly restarting services, unhealthy health checks or containers that exited immediately after startup. Inspect logs for the specific service rather than restarting the entire stack without identifying the cause:

docker compose logs --tail=200 <service-name>
Replace <service-name> with the affected service name shown by docker compose ps. Keep the angle-bracket notation in your shell only as a placeholder for that real name; do not type the brackets literally.
Confirm background processing
A working login page proves only that the web service responds. Send a test event from one application and then verify in Sentry that it is accepted and processed. If events remain pending, inspect worker, queue and relay-related services in the Compose project. Do not “fix” a queue problem by exposing internal services through Coolify.
Watch memory and swap
Track host memory, swap and disk after the first day of real traffic. The reported 12 GB RAM and 6.5 GB swap usage occurred while 65 containers were idle on a 16 GB machine. Event bursts, symbol processing, migrations and log retention can push usage beyond that baseline. Configure host-level alerting before production traffic arrives.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Troubleshooting common Coolify and Sentry failures
Coolify rejects the Compose file
This is the expected limitation described by the third-party report: the file’s YAML anchors and size can exceed what Coolify’s parser accepts. Use the host-side repository and install.sh route instead of deleting anchors or splitting the file manually. Re-test native deployment only after confirming that your Coolify version explicitly supports the required Compose syntax.
The installer runs out of memory
Check available RAM and swap before repeating the installation. The official minimum already calls for 16 GB RAM plus 16 GB swap, and the measured test used most of that memory while idle. Stop nonessential workloads, add capacity or move Sentry to a larger host. Repeatedly adding swap on an undersized machine may prevent an immediate crash but will not provide predictable event-processing performance.
Best Value
Containers restart or remain unhealthy
- Run
docker compose psand identify the first service that became unhealthy. - Read that service’s recent logs with
docker compose logs --tail=200 <service-name>. - Check disk space, because database and event-storage failures can look like application errors.
- Confirm that all images and migrations completed during
install.sh. - Use the release’s own troubleshooting instructions rather than substituting commands from an older Compose version.
The login page loads, but login fails with CSRF errors
Verify that the exact public HTTPS hostname is present in Sentry’s trusted-origin configuration and that the web service was restarted after the edit. Also check that Coolify is not rewriting the host or scheme unexpectedly. This symptom was reported in one proxied setup; the precise configuration requirement can differ by Sentry release and proxy arrangement.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Coolify returns a 502 or gateway timeout
First confirm that Sentry’s web container is running and listening on port 9000. Then check that the Coolify proxy target uses the address and port reachable from the proxy, not an internal container name that is outside its network. A stopped web container, a host firewall rule or a port collision can all produce the same browser error.
The server fills its disk
The 20 GB figure is a free-space minimum, not a retention plan. Database files, event payloads, attachments, symbol files, Docker images and logs all grow over time. Establish a retention and backup policy, monitor the filesystem and expand storage before Docker or PostgreSQL reaches 100 percent usage.
Updates, backups and operational boundaries
Update through the Sentry repository
Keep the Sentry repository on a known release tag and follow that release’s upgrade instructions. Do not update by changing an arbitrary image tag in a Coolify form. Sentry upgrades can include schema migrations and changes to service definitions; the supported installer and Compose project are the source of truth.
Back up data, not just configuration
A copy of sentry.conf.py cannot restore event history or user accounts by itself. Back up the persistent database and other Sentry volumes according to the release documentation, and test restoration on a separate host. Store backups outside the same server so a disk failure or host loss does not destroy both production data and its backup.
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
Keep the public surface small
Publish only the Sentry web endpoint through Coolify. Internal databases, queues, workers and coordination services should remain on Docker’s private networks. Restrict shell and Docker access to administrators, and treat the Coolify host as a shared production system: a compromised host exposes every workload running there.
Is this deployment method right for you?
| Situation | Recommended approach | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| You need Sentry on an existing Ubuntu or Debian Coolify host and can administer Docker. | Install with install.sh, then proxy port 9000 through Coolify. |
This follows the reported working workaround without forcing the large Compose file through Coolify’s parser. |
| Your server has only 8 GB RAM. | Increase capacity before installation. | Older guides cite 8 GB, but current official minimums are 16 GB RAM plus 16 GB swap. |
| You need a one-click Coolify template. | Wait for a supported template or use another deployment method. | The reported Coolify catalog had no Sentry template. |
| You run a RHEL-family distribution. | Test on a disposable Ubuntu or Debian host, or resolve distribution-specific issues first. | Search-result summaries of the official guidance note known installation problems on CentOS, Rocky and Alma. |
| You cannot monitor or back up a 65-container stack. | Use a managed Sentry option or assign operations to a team that can. | Self-hosting transfers upgrades, storage, security and incident response to you. |
Bottom line
Run Sentry beside Coolify, not inside Coolify’s Compose importer: install the supported self-hosted release on the host with ./install.sh, start it with Docker Compose, configure the public hostname as a trusted origin when required, and have Coolify proxy HTTPS traffic to Sentry’s web port 9000. Budget for the official 4-core, 16-GB-RAM, 16-GB-swap and 20-GB-disk minimum, then add headroom because one 26.7.2 test consumed about 12 GB RAM and 6.5 GB swap while idle.
