Yes, ACT Fibernet can carry a 24/7 YouTube stream if the connection at your location can sustain the encoder’s upload bitrate, the plan’s terms permit your use, and you have a way to recover from interruptions. An advertised plan speed is not an upload guarantee or an uptime commitment. Check your city’s current ACT plan terms, measure sustained upload performance at the streaming location, and run a realistic test before relying on the connection.
Choose between streaming from home and using a cloud service
For a do-it-yourself setup, a computer running an encoder sends video to YouTube over ACT Fibernet. That requires the computer, router and connection to remain available. Check whether the connection and plan are suitable
Measure upload performance where the encoder will run
Upload speed—not download speed—is the limiting direction for sending a live stream. Test from the actual streaming computer and location, preferably at different times and while other household devices are using the network. YouTube recommends leaving 20% headroom above the total stream bitrate, and the stream must fit within the upload bandwidth actually available after other network use. A single speed test does not establish all-hours performance.

Look up the exact ACT plan and its terms
ACT’s published plans vary by city and list plan-specific speeds and post-FUP speeds. Its unlimited-plan terms describe a maximum data limit of 3,300 GB per month or above, depending on the subscribed tariff; after the applicable limit, FUP throttling applies until the next billing cycle. “Unlimited” therefore does not necessarily mean unlimited data at unchanged speed. Check the ACT broadband plans and terms for your city and plan before estimating whether a continuous stream will fit.
ACT’s published unlimited-plan terms describe residential plans for personal use and exclude commercial use. If the stream is commercial or business-critical, ask ACT about an appropriate enterprise service and obtain permitted-use and continuity terms in writing. Set up YouTube Live and the encoder
Confirm channel eligibility and schedule the test
YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days. Enable livestreaming in advance and choose an encoder as the streaming method. YouTube advises configuring the encoder at least two hours before the event and starting it at least 15 minutes beforehand so you can check the Live Control Room preview.
- Open YouTube Studio and enter the Live Control Room.
- Choose the encoder streaming method and configure the stream key and server URL shown there. Keep the stream key private; anyone who obtains it may be able to send a stream to your channel.
- Start the encoder, then confirm that the preview appears and review stream-health notices before making the stream public.
Use settings matched to the content and connection
YouTube currently lists RTMP/RTMPS ingestion, H.264, H.265 (HEVC) and AV1 video codecs, frame rates up to 60 fps, constant bitrate (CBR) encoding, and a recommended two-second keyframe interval (not more than four seconds). YouTube recommends RTMPS, which encrypts data in transit to Google’s servers. Use YouTube’s current live encoder settings, bitrates and resolutions for the exact codec and resolution; do not substitute video-upload bitrate recommendations.

These are YouTube’s recommended H.264 encoder bitrates for the listed settings, not guaranteed upload speeds or a promise that a particular ACT plan can sustain them. Select the stream quality that leaves YouTube’s recommended 20% bandwidth headroom after accounting for household traffic. YouTube’s settings table also lists minimums and values for other codecs; consult it if using a codec other than H.264.
Configure the long-running stream deliberately
In the Live Control Room, review the stream key and URL, latency, DVR, and auto-start/auto-stop options before enabling them. These settings affect how a stream starts and how viewers interact with it; do not enable a setting simply because it is available. YouTube explains the relevant options in its Live Control Room settings help.

Test under realistic conditions and monitor the stream
- Connect the streaming computer to the router by Ethernet where feasible, and pause avoidable downloads, backups and other heavy network use.
- Run an unlisted stream using the intended resolution, frame rate, audio and representative moving video. A static screen alone may not reveal problems that occur with the real content.
- Check the Live Control Room preview and stream-health messages. Watch for dropped frames, unstable bitrate, or critical errors before scheduling a public, continuous broadcast.
- Repeat the test at times when the household connection is likely to be busy. The aim is to confirm sustained upload headroom, not just a brief peak speed.
- If the setup supports a backup encoder, configure and test failover rather than assuming it will take over automatically.
YouTube notes that connectivity disruptions can break a live stream and recommends testing failover with a backup encoder where the setup supports one. Keep the Live Control Room available for stream-health notices; critical errors can prevent an event from starting or affect viewers.

A 24/7 stream depends on both the connection and the equipment running the encoder. A power cut, router restart, computer sleep, encoder crash, network disruption or post-FUP slowdown can interrupt the broadcast. ACT’s city-specific plan listing does not establish an always-on line guarantee, and the available figures do not establish a reliability percentage for a particular subscriber.
Use only video, music and other material you have rights to livestream. YouTube’s copyright rules apply to live broadcasts as well as uploads; a stream can be interrupted or restricted if content triggers a rights claim. Review YouTube’s copyright guidance and make sure a long-running playlist does not include material you are not permitted to use. Copyright permission and YouTube monetization eligibility are separate questions; meeting one does not guarantee the other.
