You can run a prerecorded 24/7 YouTube stream from a mini PC by using OBS Studio to loop a local video or playlist and send it to YouTube. The PC, OBS, internet connection and power supply must remain available; no official OBS or YouTube guidance validates a particular low-cost mini PC for continuous encoding. Choose the machine only after checking its sustained encoding capability and testing your actual setup.
What you need—and what a mini PC must handle
The setup is a local streaming chain: the mini PC plays your video, OBS encodes and sends it, and YouTube receives the feed. A continuous broadcast depends on every part of that chain, including the PC’s cooling, network path and power.

- A mini PC running a version of OBS Studio supported by its operating system.
- Your video file or files, with enough local storage for the material you plan to loop.
- A YouTube channel with live streaming enabled and a stream key from YouTube Studio.
- A stable upload connection capable of sustaining the bitrate you select.
- Power and network arrangements suitable for unattended operation. Ethernet and a UPS may help in some installations, but neither is established as mandatory or a guarantee of uninterrupted streaming.
There is no official minimum mini PC specification in the cited OBS and YouTube guidance. When evaluating a model, check the exact CPU and integrated graphics generation, supported codecs, memory, storage, cooling under sustained load, power draw, ports and warranty. Confirm the current local price and test encoding at your intended settings before relying on it. No particular model, India price or 24/7 power consumption is established here.
Set up OBS to loop video to YouTube
- Install OBS Studio and run its Auto-Configuration Wizard. OBS says the wizard considers your intended use, computer hardware and network conditions. Treat its result as a starting point, not proof that a mini PC can run unattended indefinitely. See OBS’s quick-start guide.
- Add the video source. For one local video, add a Media Source in OBS and enable Loop. For several files, add a VLC Video Source and enable Loop Playlist. VLC must be installed; 64-bit OBS requires 64-bit VLC. See OBS’s media source guide.
- Set up audio and check the meters. Confirm that the intended source appears in the preview and that audio is present at a sensible level. Make a short test stream with representative video and sound before starting the long broadcast.
- Connect OBS to your YouTube stream. In YouTube Studio, create or schedule the live stream and copy its stream key. In OBS, open Settings > Stream, select YouTube as the service, and enter the key (or connect the account if that option is available). Keep the key private: anyone who obtains it may be able to send a feed to your channel. Start with a test rather than leaving the stream unattended immediately.
- Choose output settings and test the upload. Set resolution and frame rate in OBS, then select a bitrate suitable for the codec and YouTube’s recommendations below. YouTube recommends RTMPS for encrypted transmission. Test the connection while the PC is streaming representative content and monitor YouTube’s stream health.
- Enable reconnect behavior. In OBS, open Settings > Advanced and configure automatic reconnect. OBS documents this as a recovery aid if a connection drops; it cannot restore power, repair a failed PC or ISP, or guarantee that YouTube remains available. - Test before leaving it running. OBS recommends testing the scene and stream. A few minutes can reveal missing media, absent audio or basic encoder trouble, but does not establish 24/7 reliability. Check the broadcast from another device and confirm that the selected video and audio are actually reaching YouTube.
Encoder settings: resolution, bitrate and keyframes
YouTube’s current encoder guidance lists RTMP/RTMPS ingestion; H.264, H.265 (HEVC) or AV1 video; up to 60 fps; constant bitrate (CBR); a recommended two-second keyframe interval, which should not exceed four seconds; and AAC or MP3 audio. For H.264, YouTube’s encoder table gives these recommended bitrates (accessed 2026):

These are YouTube’s recommended encoder bitrates, not a guarantee that an Indian household connection can sustain them. Leave headroom for network variation and other devices sharing the connection. YouTube recommends testing your upload bitrate, using representative content and monitoring stream health; a speed-test result alone does not prove a stable all-day connection.

Keep the stream running—and understand what can fail
A 24/7 broadcast relies on the mini PC, OBS, the network route and power continuing to work. Automatic reconnect in OBS can help after a dropped connection, but it is not a power, hardware, internet-provider or platform uptime guarantee. Verify upload performance at the actual installation location rather than assuming a broadband plan will deliver a particular result everywhere.

For cost planning, measure the PC and router’s real power draw during streaming and apply your electricity tariff. Current India electricity rates, broadband prices, local outage statistics, mini PC prices and UPS runtimes have not been established here. If you consider a UPS, size it from measured load and the runtime you need; no universal sizing figure is supported.

A 24/7 live feed is not the same as a complete archive
YouTube says, “If your live stream is less than 12 hours long, YouTube can automatically archive it for you,” and warns, “If your stream exceeds 12 hours, it may not be captured at all.” A 24/7 broadcast should therefore not be assumed to produce a complete replay. Keep a local recording if retaining the full program matters, and consider shorter broadcasts if your channel’s schedule can accommodate them. See YouTube’s archive guidance.
Viewer rewind is also not assured for a full-day broadcast. YouTube says DVR may be limited or unavailable for streams longer than 12 hours; see YouTube’s DVR guidance.

Before you buy a mini PC
Compare candidate machines by exact processor and graphics generation, codec support, memory, storage, cooling under continuous load, idle and streaming power draw, ports, warranty and current local price. The official guidance does not establish that a particular inexpensive model can encode your chosen resolution continuously, so seek model-specific sustained-load evidence or test the exact machine before committing to an unattended channel.
