1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesTo run a 24/7 UPSC lecture stream on YouTube, prepare a rights-cleared lecture playlist, enable live streaming, and send it through an encoder connected to YouTube Live Control Room. Test the stream and monitor it while live. For dependable lesson replays, use separate broadcasts shorter than 12 hours rather than promising one complete archive of a 24-hour stream.
Choose what “24/7” means for your channel
A continuous stream can be a loop of prerecorded classes, a schedule of live lessons, or a mix of both. For Hindi-medium UPSC learners, make continuity useful: identify the subject and lesson in each video, publish a timetable in the description, and arrange recordings in an order that makes sense to someone joining midway.

- Prerecorded rotation: Easier to keep a predictable timetable, but viewers cannot interact with the instructor in real time.
- Live classes: Allow real-time interaction, but require a teacher and production setup at the scheduled time.
- Hybrid schedule: Combine scheduled live classes with recorded lessons between them.
YouTube’s encoder guidance supports encoder-based broadcasts; it does not say that one of these formats is preferred. Decide based on teaching needs and staffing.

YouTube says a channel must be verified and have no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days to enable live streaming. Streamers must be at least 16. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours, so do not leave setup until the planned start time. Check YouTube’s current live-streaming eligibility guidance.

Use material you have the right to broadcast
Build the stream primarily from original lectures, narration, slides, and diagrams. Keep a rights record for any material you did not create—such as music, photographs, charts, video clips, paper extracts, or another teacher’s recording. Record the owner and the permission or license that covers both live use and any replay archive.
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content and may interrupt or terminate a broadcast when it detects a match. Even if you have a license, the rights holder may need to allowlist your channel in Content ID for the stream to avoid interruption. Review YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams and its livestream terms and conditions.

UPSC makes previous question papers and other material publicly available, but public access is not blanket permission to rebroadcast material in full. UPSC’s copyright policy says its own material may be reproduced after proper permission, while third-party material requires authorization from its rights holder. Check the relevant permissions before including it in a stream.
Set up YouTube Live and connect an encoder
- Open YouTube Studio and go to Live Control Room. Create or schedule a stream, then review its details and visibility before going live.
- Copy the stream URL and key from YouTube. Enter both in your encoder’s YouTube connection settings. Treat the key like a password: do not show it on screen or share it. If it is exposed, replace it in YouTube’s stream settings and update the encoder.
- Configure the encoder. Select the video source or playlist, audio input, resolution, frame rate, and codec. Use a stable upload connection that can sustain the chosen settings.
- Run a private or unlisted test where appropriate. Check the picture, spoken audio, slides, transitions, and stream health before making the broadcast public.
- Start the encoder and confirm the incoming feed in Live Control Room. Check for warnings and confirm that audio and video are reaching YouTube before announcing the stream.
YouTube’s encoder setup instructions explain how to connect and recommend preparing ahead of the broadcast. For a continuous operation, arrange supervision and, where feasible, a backup internet path or encoder. YouTube advises testing encoder failover and monitoring audio and video during the event.

Choose stable video and audio settings
Choose the highest setting your upload connection can reliably sustain, not simply the highest resolution available. YouTube publishes ingest recommendations by resolution, frame rate, and codec. For H.264, its current guidance recommends 5 Mbps for 720p at 30 fps and 10 Mbps for 1080p at 30 fps. These are YouTube’s platform recommendations, not measurements for a particular channel or guarantee of a successful stream.
| Setting | Practical choice |
|---|---|
| Codec | YouTube lists H.264, H.265/HEVC, and AV1 as supported ingest codecs; check the current compatibility and settings guidance for your encoder. |
| Bitrate | For H.264, YouTube recommends 5 Mbps at 720p/30 fps and 10 Mbps at 1080p/30 fps. Select a lower stable setting if your upload connection cannot sustain the higher one. |
| Resolution and frame rate | Match the source and available upload capacity. A talking-head lecture or slides may not benefit from a setting your connection cannot hold steadily. |
| Audio | Make the teacher easy to understand. Test narration, any music, and level changes between lessons; a microphone is optional, not a YouTube requirement. |
Run an upload-speed test, then test with representative speech, slides, and motion. YouTube’s encoder settings guidance says: “Make sure to test before you start your live stream.” Monitor stream health and messages while broadcasting.
Plan replays around YouTube’s archive limit
YouTube’s encoder help says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. A 24-hour broadcast exceeds that stated condition, so do not promise viewers one complete, replayable 24-hour video. If complete lesson replays matter, schedule shorter broadcasts and check the current archive behavior in Live Control Room before relying on any longer stream. You can enable DVR in the stream settings if viewers should be able to pause or rewind while the stream is running. See YouTube’s encoder guidance and live stream settings.
Choose the production setup that fits the teaching format
- Instructor on camera: A webcam is useful only if visible instruction adds value. YouTube identifies webcams and external microphones as typical gear, not requirements.
- Slides and recorded lessons: Use the encoder to send the prepared video and audio; confirm that text is legible on a phone and that narration remains clear.
- Local encoder: Gives direct control, but the computer and internet connection must remain available for the stream to continue.
- Cloud looping for YouTube: StreamNeo is #1 to try for a continuous prerecorded stream: it runs from the cloud, supports uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and includes a free first day.
Or let it run in the cloud
With StreamNeo, upload your recorded lecture or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. The cloud plays the uploaded videos, so no computer or home connection has to stay on. It supports the quality you upload up to 4K 60fps at one price per slot, automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream, and gives one free day with no card. The monthly option is $9.99 per month. StreamNeo is for YouTube streams of uploaded videos, not live camera broadcasts. Start your free day with StreamNeo.

Troubleshoot common failures
- Live streaming is not available yet: Verify the channel, check for restrictions in the preceding 90 days, and allow up to 24 hours for first-time activation.
- YouTube shows no incoming video: Confirm the encoder is running and that the stream URL and key match the current stream in Live Control Room. Replace the key if it was exposed.
- Buffering or unstable stream health: Check upload capacity and encoder warnings; lower resolution or bitrate until the connection can sustain the stream reliably.
- Audio is missing or hard to hear: Check the encoder’s selected audio source and levels, then test speech and lesson transitions before returning to public streaming.
- Broadcast is interrupted for a rights match: Remove or replace the matched material, resolve rights with its owner, and make sure any required Content ID allowlisting is in place.
- Replay is incomplete or unavailable: Do not rely on a single broadcast exceeding YouTube’s under-12-hour automatic archive guidance. Use shorter sessions and verify the archive in Live Control Room.
