You can run Tamil music continuously on YouTube with an encoder that sends a prepared audio-and-visual feed, but the first requirement is not a piece of streaming gear: it is documented permission for every recording and composition in the broadcast. Clear the live-stream and archive rights, coordinate Content ID allowlisting with the relevant rights holders, prepare and verify the channel, then test the complete feed privately before launching.
1. Clear the music rights before building the station
A track being available online, or having a copy of it, does not establish permission to broadcast it continuously. YouTube’s livestream terms put responsibility on the content provider to have the rights needed for worldwide exploitation, including music licensing rights from artists, labels, publishers and other royalty participants. The agreements you need depend on the catalogue and territories involved; there is no one-size-fits-all Tamil music licence established here.
Inventory every track
Create a track-by-track rights register before adding songs to the playlist. Record the sound recording owner, composition and publishing contacts, territories covered, permission document, term or expiry, archive permission, and the agreed process for Content ID claims. A song may involve separate rights in the recording and the underlying composition, so identify both rather than assuming one permission covers everything.
Get permission for the actual broadcast
Ask rights holders to confirm in writing that the permission covers continuous YouTube live streaming, the countries where viewers may watch, the intended duration, any monetization, the visuals or promotional artwork used with the music, and whether YouTube may keep a replay. Confirm how the channel will be handled in Content ID, including who will arrange allowlisting for the relevant recordings.

YouTube for Artists recommends coordinating with a label or distributor when using copyright-protected music during a live stream. That coordination is useful, but it is not a substitute for securing the rights or for the rights holder completing the relevant allowlisting. YouTube says a live stream can still be interrupted when licensed music is not allowlisted.
Do not treat Creator Music as a live-radio licence
YouTube’s Creator Music usage details allow eligible tracks under its licensing or revenue-sharing options in long-form videos, not live streams. Do not rely on those options as permission for a 24/7 music broadcast.

2. Prepare and enable the YouTube channel
- Verify the channel. YouTube’s live-stream guidance requires a verified channel and no live-stream restrictions during the previous 90 days. YouTube also currently requires streamers to be at least 16.
- Enable live streaming in advance. First-time live access may take time to activate. YouTube for Artists advises enabling it at least 24 hours before the first stream.
- Use a private test event. Set up an unlisted test in YouTube Studio’s live control room before the public launch. Check the stream status and any warnings there.
- Protect the stream key. Add the stream key to the encoder privately. Do not post it, send it to viewers, or reuse a key that may have been exposed; anyone with access to it may be able to send a feed to the event.
3. Assemble the continuous programme and encoder feed
A 24/7 station needs a playback source that advances through the playlist and an encoder workflow that sends its audio and visual feed to YouTube. The exact menus and settings depend on the encoder and the ingestion method selected in YouTube Studio, so there is no single set of bitrate, resolution, or keyframe values that applies to every setup. Use the requirements shown for the chosen encoder and YouTube ingestion method; do not copy HLS-specific settings into a different workflow.
If you use HLS ingestion
YouTube’s HLS guidance is aimed at encoder vendors. For HLS, it specifies muxed audio and video in M2TS, H.264 or HEVC video, AAC audio, HTTPS, and media playlists. These requirements apply to HLS ingestion specifically, not to every YouTube live workflow. If your encoder does not explicitly support YouTube’s HLS requirements, choose a supported alternative rather than assuming it will work.

Build for uninterrupted playback
- Prepare a playlist from tracks whose live-use permissions and Content ID handling are documented.
- Set the playback source to continue through the programme, and check that it moves from one track to the next without silence, abrupt cuts, or a stalled item.
- Choose visuals you have permission to use. A static image or rotating artwork does not change the music rights needed for the audio.
- Listen to the audio feed and watch the outgoing video feed at the encoder, not just the local playlist player. Confirm that both are reaching the stream.
- Keep the source files, playlist order, rights register, permissions, and escalation contacts accessible to the person responsible for the station.
4. Run a private end-to-end test
Before announcing the station, test the same encoder, playlist, audio chain, visual feed, and YouTube event that you plan to use live. A local preview alone cannot confirm that YouTube receives the feed correctly or that the channel is allowlisted.
- Start an unlisted event and connect the encoder using the event’s stream key.
- Check YouTube Studio for ingestion status, warnings, restrictions, or other notices.
- Let the programme run long enough to verify several playlist transitions, steady audio, and a stable visual feed.
- Confirm with the relevant rights holders or their representatives that the channel is allowlisted for the music in the test playlist.
- Record who is monitoring the event and who to contact if YouTube interrupts it or a rights issue appears.
5. Monitor the broadcast and plan for interruption
A continuous stream still needs an owner. Assign someone to check YouTube Studio and the encoder, and write down the steps for stopping or removing a matched track, restarting the feed, and escalating a rights issue to the relevant owner. If YouTube interrupts the broadcast or replaces it with a placeholder, check Studio for the reason and any restrictions; remove or stop the matched material while the issue is investigated. Do not keep replaying a disputed track as a workaround.

Keep the playlist and permissions aligned. If you add a song, artwork, or other material, confirm that its rights and Content ID handling cover the same intended use before it enters the live rotation.

YouTube says Content ID claims may be applied after a live stream ends if the broadcast is archived. Archive only when the permissions cover the replay as well as the live transmission, and make sure the rights agreement addresses the duration and territories of that replay. If it does not, disable or avoid the archive rather than assuming live permission includes it.

7. Treat monetization as a separate decision
A continuous playlist does not guarantee acceptance into or continued eligibility for the YouTube Partner Program. In a policy clarification dated July 15, 2025, YouTube renamed “repetitious content” as “inauthentic content” to clarify that repetitive or mass-produced material is included; the policy applies to live streams. Consider whether the station offers original programming and viewer value, and do not promise that a rotating playlist, static artwork, or 24/7 availability will qualify for monetization.
