Yes: you can keep a prepared Hindu prayer playlist live on YouTube while your personal computer is off by running an encoder on a cloud desktop or virtual machine. YouTube eligibility, rights clearance, a working cloud process, and monitoring are still essential; cloud hosting alone does not guarantee an uninterrupted stream.
Choose what you are streaming
Prepared devotional playlist
The simplest setup is a sequence of original or appropriately licensed audio and video files sent to YouTube by an encoder running in the cloud. Prepare a continuous playlist and, if needed, a restrained visual loop. This is prerecorded content being delivered as a live stream, not a live camera broadcast.

Live temple camera and sound
A real-time puja or temple feed needs a camera and audio capture setup in addition to the cloud encoder. Get authorization from the temple or venue and clear everything that can be heard or seen, including music, performers, images, and people. YouTube describes encoder-based production with equipment such as cameras, microphones, and preamps; the National Informatics Centre (NIC) also discusses venue webcast equipment. Neither source establishes permission for any particular temple or stream. YouTube’s live-streaming setup guidance and NIC webcast guidance cover these production considerations.
Check YouTube eligibility before setting up
YouTube says a channel must be verified and must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days. Minimum-age rules and other current platform requirements also apply. YouTube lists an encoder as one way to go live. Check its current instructions before creating an event because Studio labels and setup screens can change. Set up the cloud workflow
- Create or schedule the event: In YouTube Studio, create or schedule a live event and choose encoder ingestion. Follow the current Studio prompts rather than relying on older UI labels.
- Protect the stream key: Copy the event’s stream key into the encoder’s YouTube destination settings. Treat it like a password: do not publish it, share it broadly, or leave it in an exposed script. Limit who can retrieve or change it.
- Choose the cloud machine: If you specifically need the server located in India, select an India-region VM and verify its region with the provider. No particular provider, machine size, or current price is established here. Install OBS or FFmpeg only after choosing an operating system and workflow you can maintain.
- Make source files available: Store the playlist files on the VM or an allowed storage service, and configure the encoder to play them continuously in the required order. Plan for enough storage and test the complete sequence, including how it moves from the final item back to the first.
- Prepare recovery: Configure the encoder or its process manager to restart after a process failure or VM reboot. Write down how an authorized operator can check the incoming feed, restart the encoder, and respond to a YouTube warning.
- Test privately: Send a private or unlisted test feed before public launch. Confirm that YouTube receives it, the audio and video stay synchronized, and a forced interruption can be recovered. Do not publish until rights and monitoring are ready.
Choose resolution and encoder settings
For H.264, YouTube’s current encoder guidance recommends 10 Mbps for 1080p30 or 6 Mbps for 720p30. It recommends constant bitrate (CBR) and a 2-second keyframe frequency, supports RTMP and RTMPS, and recommends RTMPS for encrypted delivery. These are YouTube encoder recommendations, not the internet speed viewers need to watch. The guidance was accessed on October 3, 2026; the page does not display a publication year. - 1080p30: H.264, recommended 10 Mbps; use CBR and 2-second keyframes.
- 720p30: H.264, recommended 6 Mbps; use CBR and 2-second keyframes.
- Transport: Use RTMPS where your encoder supports it; YouTube recommends it for encrypted delivery.
Choose 1080p if the visual detail justifies it and the cloud machine can sustain the higher outbound rate. A mostly static prayer visual may not benefit much from the additional resolution; prioritize a stable feed. Allow headroom above the selected bitrate and keep a tested lower-resolution fallback. NIC lists 2–4 Mbps of dedicated network bandwidth per stream for its hired-agency government webcast scenario, but NIC’s service is limited to Central and State Government institutions. That figure is not a general YouTube bitrate recommendation for individual creators. NIC’s webcast guidance describes its context.

Clear every recording and visual
Devotional subject matter does not itself grant streaming rights. YouTube states: “All live streams are scanned for matches to third-party content, including copyrighted content in the form of another live broadcast.” It may interrupt or terminate a stream when a match is found. Even if you have a license, YouTube says the rights owner may need to add your channel to a Content ID allowlist to avoid interruption. Read YouTube’s copyright guidance for live streams before going live.

For each asset, keep a rights ledger that records:
- Title, composition and lyrics, including any arrangement;
- Performers and the owner of the specific recording;
- Owners and permissions for images or video;
- Written license or permission, covered countries, and term;
- Whether the permission covers YouTube livestreaming, archived playback, and monetization;
- Content ID status and, where relevant, confirmation that the channel has been allowlisted.
A traditional prayer or old lyric may still be embodied in a modern arrangement or recording with separate rights. Keep permission documents and use YouTube’s dispute process only when your documentation supports the claim. This is practical guidance, not a legal opinion about a particular Indian work. Monitor the stream and plan for interruptions
YouTube recommends testing before streaming and monitoring stream health while live. It does not promise always-on continuity. Use an external uptime or stream-health check, or arrange a human monitoring rotation, and keep a written recovery procedure. During the pilot, verify that the visual remains stable, audio does not drift, the encoder reconnects after a forced interruption, and YouTube Studio reports a healthy incoming feed.
- Alert an operator if the encoder process stops or the stream is no longer reaching YouTube.
- Document who can access the stream key and how to restart the encoder or VM.
- Decide who will handle a copyright warning or platform interruption, and what content to stop if rights are in question.
- Check YouTube’s current archive and retention guidance if you need to keep a recording; do not assume every long stream will be retained indefinitely.
Common problems and fixes
YouTube will not accept the stream
Check that the channel is verified, has no live-stream restriction in the previous 90 days, and meets YouTube’s current requirements. Confirm that the event is configured for encoder ingestion and that the encoder has the correct event’s stream key.

The feed starts, then drops
Check the cloud VM’s outbound connection, encoder logs, and YouTube Studio’s stream health. Reduce to the tested fallback resolution if the machine or network cannot sustain the selected bitrate. Verify that automatic restart is configured and that the encoder can reconnect after a process or VM restart.

Check the Content ID match and contact the relevant rights owner about allowlisting the channel. Keep the license and correspondence available; do not assume that a license automatically prevents automated matching.

Audio or video breaks during the loop
Test the whole playlist before launch, including its transition from the final file to the first. Check encoder logs and playback synchronization, then replace or re-encode problematic source files using a workflow you have tested.
