Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsTo stop future recurring debits in India, revoke the UPI AutoPay mandate in the UPI app or bank interface where it is listed. Open its AutoPay or mandate-management section, select the active mandate, choose revoke or cancel, complete any required UPI PIN check, and confirm the status has changed. If you also want to end the service, cancel its subscription separately with the merchant or subscription provider.
How do I cancel UPI AutoPay?
Use the UPI app or bank interface that shows the mandate. Labels and screen layouts vary, but NPCI says payer UPI apps and banks must offer mandate lifecycle management—including viewing, revoking, pausing, and modifying—under “Manage Bank Accounts” or a dedicated “UPI AutoPay” section. Payer-initiated mandate actions require UPI PIN authentication. See NPCI’s 7 October 2025 circular on UPI AutoPay.

- Open the UPI app or bank interface that holds the mandate.
- Find “AutoPay,” “Mandates,” or “Manage Bank Accounts,” then open the active or live mandate for the merchant.
- Choose “Revoke” or “Cancel” to end the authorization. Pausing is a different action and does not revoke the mandate.
- Authenticate as prompted, including with your UPI PIN where required, and check that the mandate’s status reflects the cancellation.
Do not assume that deleting the merchant’s app, removing a payment method, or cancelling a subscription has revoked an existing UPI mandate. The mandate is managed through the UPI app or bank interface that exposes it.

Google Pay’s documented route is: open the profile menu, select “AutoPay,” open “Live,” select the mandate, tap “Cancel autopay,” and enter the UPI PIN. Google says a revoked mandate can no longer be used by the merchant to debit the account under that mandate. Follow Google Pay’s instructions for managing recurring payments; these menu labels are specific to Google Pay and should not be treated as universal.

Will cancelling UPI AutoPay cancel my subscription?
No—not necessarily. Revoking the mandate stops future debits under that payment authorization; it does not, by itself, establish that the merchant has ended your service or subscription. Cancel the subscription with the app, merchant, or billing platform as well if you want the service to end. Google Payments directs users to “Subscriptions & services” to manage or cancel recurring subscriptions; if a cancellation option is not available there, follow the product-specific subscription management route. See Google Payments’ subscription guidance.
Google Play India lists UPI AutoPay as a payment method for eligible recurring subscriptions, including YouTube Premium and Google One. For a charge associated with Google Play, check both the subscription account and the UPI app’s mandate list. See Google Play’s accepted payment methods in India.

Which action should you take?
| What you need to stop | Where to act | What the action does |
|---|---|---|
| Future debits under a UPI AutoPay mandate | The UPI app or bank interface showing the mandate | Revoke the mandate; verify its resulting status. |
| The service or subscription | The merchant, app, or subscription platform | Cancel the subscription or service. This is separate from revoking the payment mandate. |
| A UPI debit already initiated | Your participating bank’s UPI app grievance route; contact the merchant about service cancellation or a refund | Raise a transaction grievance. NPCI says a stop-payment request cannot stop a UPI payment once initiated. |
What if the mandate is missing or cancellation fails?
- It does not appear: Update the app and check its dedicated AutoPay or Manage Bank Accounts section. Interfaces differ, even though NPCI specifies where mandate-management capability should be available.
- It is a loan-related mandate: Google Pay says these mandates cannot be cancelled inside Google Pay; contact the merchant for its cancellation process. Guidance is in Google Pay’s AutoPay help.
- The linked bank account is inactive: Google Pay says the account must be active to cancel a mandate there. Reactivate it before retrying, if applicable, or contact the bank or merchant for help.
- A debit has already been initiated: NPCI says, “No, once the payment is initiated, it cannot be stopped.” Submit a transaction grievance through the participating bank’s UPI app and contact the merchant about the service or a refund. See NPCI’s UPI FAQs.
