To check or change Claude’s permissions on Android, open Settings > Apps > Claude > Permissions. Tap a permission and choose an available option; select Don’t allow to revoke it. If Claude isn’t listed, open See all apps first. Menu names and permission choices vary by Android version and phone maker.
How do I check what permissions Claude has on Android?
- Open your phone’s Settings app.
- Tap Apps, then Claude. If you don’t see Claude, tap See all apps and find it in the list.
- Tap Permissions. Android shows permissions that are allowed or denied for the installed app.
This page shows the permissions on your device; the available entries can differ by app version, Android version, and device. The Google Play Data safety section is separate from Android’s runtime permission controls and is not a substitute for checking the app’s installed settings. How do I turn off Claude’s microphone or camera access?
On the app’s Permissions page, tap Camera or Microphone, if that permission is listed, then choose Don’t allow. Do the same for any other permission you want to revoke. The sources available do not establish which permissions Claude currently requests, so check the list on your own phone rather than assuming a particular permission is present.
Depending on your Android version and device, a permission may offer a more limited choice instead of a permanent denial. For camera, microphone, or location, options can include Allow only while using the app or Ask every time. These choices can limit access without setting it to Don’t allow. Google’s Android permissions guide describes the controls; the exact options vary.

Revoking a permission may make an app feature that relies on it unavailable until you grant access again. The effect depends on the permission and feature.
How can I audit permissions by category?
Use Permission manager when you want to check which apps have a particular type of access, rather than reviewing Claude permission by permission:

- Open Settings > Security & Privacy > Privacy > Permission manager. Labels and menu placement vary, so search Settings for Permissions if you can’t find it.
- Choose a permission type, such as camera or microphone.
- Find and tap Claude to review or change its access.
Android may show different category names or menu paths on different devices. For Claude’s full per-app view, return to Settings > Apps > Claude > Permissions.

How do I see whether an app recently used a permission?
Android’s Privacy dashboard shows recent permission activity. Google documents a history window of the previous 7 days on Android 13 and 24 hours on Android 12; dashboard availability and some steps depend on Android version. Open Settings > Security & Privacy > Privacy > Privacy dashboard, then choose a permission type to inspect recent access. Google Android Help describes the Privacy dashboard.

What if Claude is using the camera or microphone now?
On supported Android devices, a green indicator appears when an app uses the camera or microphone. Tap the indicator to see which app or service is using the sensor. Google’s instructions for camera and microphone indicators cover how to check sensor activity.
Android also provides system-wide camera and microphone controls in Settings and, on supported devices, Quick Settings. Turning one of these off affects sensor access more broadly than changing Claude’s individual permission. Availability and labels vary by device.

If the settings path doesn’t match your phone
- Search the Settings app for Claude or Permissions.
- Look under Apps and open the full installed-app list if needed.
- Use your device maker’s instructions if its settings use different labels or menu locations.
