You can review coding-agent work from a phone, but treat the phone as a control and inspection surface—not proof that a change is safe. The code may be running on a connected computer or in a hosted GitHub workflow. Read the actual diff, check the available test and status information, and distinguish approving an agent’s command from submitting a pull-request review or merging under repository rules.
Choose the workflow that matches where the agent runs
There are two distinct patterns in the documented mobile workflows: controlling work on a connected development host with ChatGPT Remote, or tracking a GitHub-hosted Copilot coding-agent task in GitHub Mobile. They are not a performance comparison; they differ in where work runs and how it reaches review.

| Workflow | Where the code runs | What the phone is for | How work reaches review |
|---|---|---|---|
| ChatGPT Remote | A connected Mac, Windows machine, devbox, or other connected host. | Start, steer, review, and organize engineering work running on that host. | OpenAI’s guide describes control over the host and workspace, including using a separate worktree. It does not promise that every task will return as a draft pull request. |
| GitHub Mobile with Copilot coding agent | A hosted GitHub agent task. | Start or track work, interact with pull requests, and refine changes from the phone. | GitHub describes background work that can produce a draft pull request, which can then be inspected and reviewed. |
Before starting a Remote session
OpenAI’s Remote guide recommends choosing the intended host and workspace before asking the agent to work. For isolated changes, use a separate worktree and select the intended base branch; run environment setup before asking the agent to build or test. This helps keep the task’s starting point and environment clear while you control it remotely.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsBefore starting a GitHub Mobile task
GitHub announced mobile Copilot coding-agent use for Copilot Enterprise and Pro+ subscribers. Its Mobile announcement describes starting a task from Home or a repository, letting Copilot work in the background and create a draft pull request, and tracking tasks on an Agents page. A review tag and a push notification when the draft is ready are described; notifications depend on push notifications being enabled.

Use a repeatable review loop
The following is a practical workflow derived from OpenAI and GitHub product documentation. It is not a guarantee that every app version exposes the same screens or controls.
- Find the right work. In a Remote session, confirm the connected host, workspace, and task. In GitHub Mobile, locate the task or pull request and make sure it is the one you intended to review.
- Read the request and agent summary. Use them to understand the intended behavior and scope. Treat a summary as orientation, not evidence that every changed line is safe.
- Inspect the changed files and actual diff. Look for unexpected files, changes outside the requested scope, and edits whose behavior you do not understand. OpenAI’s guide frames “What changed, and do I agree with it?” as a decision for the user.
- Check tests and status information. Review the test results and status details available in the session or pull request. A passing check does not by itself establish that the change meets the task’s intent.
- Resolve uncertainties before approving. Ask the agent to explain a change, request a revision, or get more context when needed. If you apply a suggested change, inspect the resulting diff rather than assuming the suggestion is safe.
- Take the intended review action. Submit a pull-request review only after inspecting the changes. Merge only if you have authority and the repository’s required checks and approvals are satisfied.
“Approve” can mean three different things
Do not treat all approval controls as interchangeable. A command permission in a remote session, a pull-request review, and permission to merge govern different actions.

- 【Ultra-portable & Compact】Portable bluetooth keyboard, Roughly the size of an iPhone, it's designed for true on-the-go convenience. Perfectly easy to carry around while traveling or commuting
- Approving a command: This permits a command in a connected-host session. It is not a review of the pull request. OpenAI’s guide advises, for an unfamiliar command, a sensitive repository, or an unclear effect: “approve once—or deny it and ask Codex to explain or use a safer approach.”
- Submitting a pull-request review: This records a review action. GitHub says a standard Copilot code review leaves a “Comment” review by default, which does not count toward a pull request’s required approvals.
- Meeting merge requirements: Whether a pull request can merge depends on the repository’s rules and status checks. GitHub says a Copilot review overview’s approval assessment is not, by itself, an approval that satisfies merge requirements.
GitHub documents Copilot approvals as a public preview and says they are off by default. Administrators can configure them at enterprise, organization, and repository levels, including file-path controls. GitHub’s documentation states: “Copilot approvals are in public preview and subject to change.” Check the current repository rules and settings; do not infer merge eligibility from a green-looking status or an approval assessment.

Severity labels and suggestions
GitHub’s code-review documentation describes High, Medium, and Low severity labels on review comments, and suggested changes that can be applied. Use labels to prioritize investigation, not as a complete risk assessment. Inspect the resulting code whenever a suggestion is applied.

Review effort is not a substitute for your judgment
GitHub documents Lite and Balanced review effort. Lite targets glaring bugs, vulnerabilities, and style issues; Balanced is intended for deeper analysis of complex logic, security-sensitive code, and cross-service changes. Neither level establishes that a human can skip reviewing the actual changes.
Coverage has limits
GitHub notes that some categories are excluded from Copilot code review, including dependency-management files, logs, and SVG files. Inspect the full change set rather than assuming every changed file received the same review.

A new commit can make an earlier review stale
GitHub says an approval is dismissed if new commits arrive after Copilot approves. A push after a Copilot review does not necessarily trigger another review unless automatic re-review is configured, so request a fresh review when appropriate. GitHub also warns that a re-review may repeat comments previously resolved or downvoted.
Know what may affect availability and usage
GitHub’s published estimates for Copilot code review, accessed in 2026, are $0.05–$1 USD worth of AI credits at Lite effort and $0.25–$5 USD at Balanced effort. These are variable estimates, not fixed prices: GitHub says they vary with pull-request size and custom instructions, may change as models evolve, and exclude GitHub Actions minutes.
Availability and controls can depend on subscription eligibility and organization policy. GitHub says Copilot code review is available in GitHub Mobile, subject to organization policy when Copilot is provided by an organization. Confirm the current app capabilities, account eligibility, and repository settings before relying on a mobile workflow.
