The examples below use the vendor-documented endpoint and options; validate the rendered result against your target page before relying on it.
Make a basic PDF screenshot request
The v3 endpoint is https://shot.screenshotapi.net/v3/screenshot. A request needs your account token and the URL of the page to capture. Select PDF output with file_type=pdf.

Encode the destination URL as a query parameter; HTTP client libraries generally handle this when you pass parameters separately.

Choose the PDF’s page shape
Standard paper or one continuous page
Use a standard format when you want conventional paper dimensions. If you omit format but provide width and height, those dimensions are used instead. If you provide neither, the PDF is rendered as one long page without page breaks. Choose based on whether the output is meant to print as paginated pages or preserve a continuous webpage capture.
Orientation and print appearance
The PDF options support landscape orientation, print media, and print backgrounds. These are adjustments for the source page, not universal settings: a wide dashboard may need landscape, while a page designed with print styles may look better with print media enabled. Check both the page content and any background colors or images in the resulting PDF.

Limit output to a page interval
Use page_range as a string in start-end form, with positive page numbers and a start no greater than the end. For example, 2-6 retains pages 2 through 6. The range is useful when a longer paginated render contains a section you need to keep; confirm the generated document’s pagination before distributing it.

Example: request an A4 PDF with cURL
This example selects A4 paper and writes the response body directly to a local PDF file. The nested PDF option names are shown in the documented query-string pattern.

-o page.pdfUse your actual token locally, not in a published script. The -o option saves the returned document rather than printing binary response data in the terminal.
Use supplied HTML instead of fetching a URL
Set custom_html to render raw HTML in place of fetching a webpage. The documentation says this option overrides or ignores url, while remaining compatible with PDF options. For substantial markup, use POST rather than putting the HTML into a GET URL, which is constrained by URL length limits. See the PDF documentation for the request parameters and examples.

Prepare pages with dynamic content controls
PDF requests can also use delay, lazy loading, and injected custom JavaScript or CSS. These controls can give a page additional time or adjust its presentation before capture. They do not guarantee that a site will render correctly, bypass access restrictions, or make every dynamic element available; test the exact URL and settings you plan to use.

- The response is not a PDF: Check that the request uses the v3 screenshot endpoint and includes
file_type=pdf. Also inspect the response status and body before treating the output as a document. - The target URL fails or loads the wrong page: Confirm that the URL is encoded as a single query parameter and is reachable by the service. A page’s access controls or site-specific behavior may prevent a successful capture.
- The PDF is one very long page: That is the documented behavior when neither a standard
formatnor bothwidthandheightare supplied. Set a paper format or dimensions if you need a paginated layout. - Content is missing or appears before it finishes loading: Try an appropriate delay, lazy loading, or custom JavaScript/CSS preparation. Validate on the specific site; these options do not ensure every page element will render.
- HTML input is rejected or truncated: For long
custom_html, use POST as the PDF guide recommends instead of exceeding GET URL length limits. - The selected page range is invalid: Use positive page numbers in
start-endform and ensure the start is no greater than the end.
