Repair Titanfall 2 through the launcher that owns your installation, then test the standard game before reinstalling or enabling a VR mod. Steam and the EA app provide built-in repair tools; they restore or validate managed game files without requiring you to guess which unfamiliar files to delete.
Repair Titanfall 2 with its launcher
Use the client where your copy of Titanfall 2 is installed. The menu labels below follow the documented flows; they can shift as launcher interfaces change.

Steam
- Open Library and right-click Titanfall 2.
- Select Properties, then Installed Files.
- Choose Verify integrity of game files and let the check finish. Steam says verification may take several minutes. Steam Support: Verify Integrity of Game Files.
EA app
- Open My Collection.
- Open the three-dot menu on the Titanfall 2 tile and select Repair.
Origin
If your installation is still managed through Origin, open Titanfall 2’s game page, select the gear menu, then choose Repair. Northstar’s troubleshooting guide documents the EA app, Steam, and Origin repair routes: Northstar troubleshooting.
What to do when Steam reports files that failed verification
A failed-file message does not by itself mean the repair failed. Steam notes that one or more files may fail verification because they are local configuration files that should not be replaced. Let the process finish, then test the game rather than deleting files based only on that message. Steam Support’s explanation.

Test the standard game separately from Northstar
After repair, launch Titanfall 2 normally from its owning client. Northstar’s launch guide distinguishes the normal game from Northstar through launcher options. If you have set Northstar launch options, remove -northstar or use the documented -nonorthstardll option for the standard game, as applicable to your launcher. See Northstar’s launch instructions.
If the unmodded game launches successfully, the base installation is working. If you still want VR, reinstall or re-enable the mod using the installer’s current official instructions. The files and setup can differ between installers, so do not assume another installer’s folder layout applies to yours.

Locate the game folder if you need to check it
You generally do not need to find the folder to run launcher repair. If you do need its location, Northstar documents these paths:
- Steam: Library, right-click Titanfall 2, select Manage, then Browse local files.
- EA app: Open the game tile’s menu, select View Properties, and check Install location.
Northstar is a PC-only client that requires Titanfall 2 to be owned and installed. Its manual installation places Northstar files in the Titanfall2 folder, so not every added file in that folder is necessarily an original game asset. If repair does not fix the problem
- Stop running the VR installer while diagnosing the issue.
- Do not delete broad groups of files or unfamiliar files just because they appeared after mod installation. Launcher verification checks managed game files; Steam does not promise that it removes arbitrary third-party files.
- Record the exact error, the launcher that owns the game, the VR installer or mod name, and whether you want to keep the mod. Those details help identify a safe next step.
- If Northstar is the part that still fails, consult its troubleshooting guide. For example, its guide says a missing file such as
tier0.dllmay point to an incorrect launcher location or missing or corrupted game files; check the named folder and verify the game files first.
One separate issue is folder permissions: Northstar’s guide warns that the EA app’s default Titanfall 2 folder may not be writable by non-admin processes, which can affect mod managers and log writing. That is distinct from the launcher’s repair procedure; do not treat it as a reason to delete files.
